The story on how the story of a talented new singer turned into a question about A.I. and the future of music.

Thankfully there is still loads of real soul music to go at and I will only be buying stuff that is definitely real, what other than money for the creators is this any use for, when real artistry is what music is all about, all the ai creators seem to peddle the same crap "I wanted to see how it turned out" and then release it to the public.

this time around though the 'creators' peddled it as from a real artist, reads like it wasn't till they were 'confronted' that they came clean

Firstly let me own up I bought the first Riker record. more for the novelty of it being the first of its kind, not once considered buying any of their subsequent releases.

The explanation for this release has many worrying aspects. I think we have to face the fact like it or not AI generated music not going away and in time may well improve. I feel sorry in some way for buyers in the future. Much of my love for Soul Music has always been the feeling that the real person singing has gone through the emotions in the lyrics that sometimes match my own. Knowing that the singer does not actually exist they will never have the feeling and anticipation of seeing one of your heroes live, actually stood in front of you. Yes there may be holograms but surely it cannot be the same. I still remember to this day the tears in my eyes as the lights dimmed and Gladys Knight and the Pips were announced at the Manchester Odeon. I was 100% ready to walk in Gladys's shoes.

The fact that this was released with the intention to deceive and the subsequent explanation after being questioned makes me think the producer knew the pitfalls of being honest from the start. I've listened to the other tracks on the album and the seems little variation in phrasing, the tone of the voice is also reminiscent of the female voices on that YouTube channel full of AI tunes, seems like a generic soul voice to me.

Hopefully there will be in the future enough people who recognise the worth of real world artists, there is always going to be a desire to play musical instruments ,real music may in the future may have to fight a little harder.

I've been listening to a selection of Stax singles whilst replying, AI is going to have to try a lot harder to replicate the real thing.
