Well then Mr Keith, that Avataar brings back memories.

Record Bar at Wigan, about 1975, and if I'm not mistaken that's a youthful Johnny Mack, aka

Veepman front right !

Well, I know I'm the one in the blue Fred Perry - you know what, I dont know who the rest of this team are - Keith, Rich, need some direction here,,,,,

Record wise I've got a photographic memory - that 45 was a white label UK major 45 - either Rufus Lumley on Sateside or Alexander Patton on Capitol

Well John...........I see youv'e bought another shirt since 1974. Back then there's no chance you would have done that, the reason being you spent ALL your money on records (mostly from me & Steve Vickers) Remember the Mecca Sunday morning football team !!

Regards Ritchie.

Ritchie -

This is getting to be like a fairy tale - I bumped into Dicky Watts last year and all he could do was remind me about Sunday morning soccer games after the Mecca - we had some great times - didnt we ?

Wish I had 1% of the records that went thro my hands back in those days - Virginia Blackley, Delilah Moore, Jeannie Tracey, immediately spring to mind from the Mecca - I've had my collection raped too many times over the years however I'm still at it and have some great deep soul stuff that means more to me than most of the northern stuff. Guess I've always been a true soulie at heart.

When Dicky reminded me about those Sunday morning football games, he reminded me that if the ball was black and white I'd be more likely to neck it than kick it - was I really that bad in those days ?

Need to meet up some time ...................

John.........Virginia Blakly & Jeanie Tracy were both from me, You turned down Cody black (Slowly moulding) issue & Reo Lane (Give me your love). Regarding the Ball the exact words were " swallow it John its a giant Green & Clear" spoken by Jack Bollington from Derby. Happy days indeed just let me know when your back in the UK.

Regards Ritchie.

You know what, I actually had the Cody Black record on a yellow demo and the Reo Lane 45 - blue and yellow label, name of which escapes me at the moment ...Bren or someting like that- sold that one a couple of years back to Dicky from Leicester - only person I remember having another copy of that was Shelvo and Colin Curtis. Another Mecca last hour record that still needs to surface - what price nowadays ????

Still got a couple of records I bought from you - Duke & Leonard, Alaina Reed, Patti York

Take care

John

Yep - thats the one - sold it along with a pile of others (including The Empires on Chavis, Bernard Smith on Spectrum, Vanguards on Lamp, Choice of Color on Apt) for a fiver each to Ian Blackburn maybe 4 or five years ago ! I definitely made a huge mistake that day - had been off the scene for such a long time and had no idea of prices.

Nice to hear the Reo Lane 45 again - never turns up - grows on you after a few listens !!!

I still enjoy listening to Patti York - another record that is a hard one to turn up.

Talking about the old days at the Mecca - I bumped into Harry Sherlock from Chorley a couple of years ago - in a Bar in Baku, Azerbaijan of all places - weird = we were both gobsmacked - he's living in Thailand - told me that Bernie Golding had been out visiting him - he aint changed a bit - still as mad as a flippin hatter !!!!

Take care

John

Sorry to butt in guys, but does anyone remember Bernie Golding going around doing his impression of "The Flasher" wearing just an old mac & shoes at one Mecca alldayer in 1976? (I think it may have been the one when the Miracles were on live?)

Any ideas what the Patti York on UA is worth?
