I was doing a bit of catalogueing last night (What again!!! as the Mrs says!) and one of the records that i was doing was:

VIP 25019 Danny Day - this time last summer/ please don't turn the lights out.

Sod awful record but bought a good few years back as a label filler.

So onto my question:

My copy is on the old yellow/black VIP issue but in her Motown book Sharon Davies has it listed as unreleased. So was it? and who is/was Danny Day?

"Danny Day" was actually Hal Davis.

Both sides are written by Jimmy Webb.

I only know of it being released on VIP.

Both Brenda Holloway and Blinky also recorded "This Time Last Summer" but as far as I know neither of those recordings have ever been released.

We have/had promo and stock copies on various label designs, yellow with bars, or the plain yellow label of this 45. So it was certainly released, elusive but not rare.
