I made a sale on Ebay last week - £295.00

Got paid by Paypal, so sent the item in good faith (to Holland).

2 days later Paypal put the payment on hold and today it's been reverswed. Paypal can't tell me why other than "It's a fraudulent transaction" - ie the buyer used a nicked credit card or summat.

So now I'm out of pocket both for the item and the insured postage.

Any advice anyone?

I'm gonna put up a want list for the last few UK Motown albums I still need. Not necessarily rare ones but just need better copies of some numbers.

For starters, notify the police and Trading Standards, then put in a claim from PayPal and let them know you've reported it. It's not your fault if they accepted a crungy Cr. card. They're supposed to protect you against that kind of thing.

I've done that and I don't think it's going to do me much good. Apparently the buyer had an unconfirmed address so i have no protection.

So that's why so many sellers won't post to an unconfirmed address. Sounds like a copout to me. Whether the seller gives a dodgy address or not has nothing to do with the veracity of his or her credit card. Paypal are the go between, you got your part of the transaction right, they screwed up, but because you dealt with an unconfirmed address, and I for one never check that, they're saying it's your fault. In that case why do they allow people with unconfimed addresses to trade?

Get your paperwork together and contact 'Watchdog'.

I never checked before, but will definitely do so from now on. An unconfirmed address means NO seller protection.
