Just been playing the new Falcons cd, some superb sounds, and this got me searching for a audio tape I have had for some years, by the Falcons. Have not got a clue what album these tracks were taken from or if these are the same Falcons, who recorded 'good good feelin' etc.

The recordings seem early 60's or late 50's and are on LuPINE. Cannot find any info or discography relating to these. Any info appreciated

The Falcons were essentially two groups, the first breaking up '62 / '63 to be eventually be replaced by the Fabulous Playboys, this is the group the cd is concerned with. This group (The Fab Playboys/Falcons) recorded just once for Lupine, Lonely Nights/Has It Happened To You Yet. All earlier recordings, the ones you are talking about on Lupine were by the previous group which included Wilson Pickett, Mack Rice & Eddie Floyd.

Does anyone know if the 2nd falcons actually are the firestones as claimed in the soul harmony singles book, and if so, what evidence supports that? I think it's not mentioned in the marv goldberg thing and the records don't sound similar in any way.

It states in the sleeve notes of the cd that they went to Ollie McLaughlin and to be safe renamed themselves The Firestones. Sonny is quoted in the notes as saying "man that was a bad experience"............ "he was a real hustler, we couldn't understand where he was going at all. We backed out of there just as soon as we could". There is an unissued cut, You've Got The Power, on the cd from this period.

thanks. I got the "you've got the power" cut on some british single and that actually does sound like the falcons. The firestones cut sounds very different. If the group members were involved and agree with the story I believe it though. Thanks.

the LP could be the Volume 2 "i found a love" .8006...this is vol 1 "your so fine" FLICK 8005..
