hi all, looking for some info if any regards "square deal" us record label

can anyone shed any light on this one? any other soul releases, place of origin etc?

this is a chicago label, there are about 5-6 records on it, most commonly the one by larry dixon. Most of the other releases are gospel.

thanks for the info boba, wot label number is larry dixon? ive just picked up 504 which is a soul 45?

Also a couple of blues numbers on the label. Seems to be a budget label, i.e. you bring along a finished project and they will put it out for you.
yes dave that seems viable as the label is minimal plus the track im referring to sounds very raw.

so does that make it a rare label? ie a one off release?

i have the 504 number you mention, it's a funk instrumental, right? I can't remember it now, I will have to check when I get home (something like the "sounds of" something?). Nothing is really common on the label. The larry dixon "this time" is the only sort of valuable record on the label. I'm not sure it's a custom label as Dave mentions though, but it might be.

yes boba, sounds of soul combo, would say late sixties funkish instrumental which imo is bloody good full on raw

uptempo instro, especailly side 1 cant stop playing it. would sound awesome played out on a good system.

i think it must actually be early 70s because the larry dixon is like #501 and I think says 1971 on it (again this is all from my memory, I would have to go home to check). Either way, it's not common or known, I guess it could be valuable if people picked up on it.
