Are the light blue releases with black writing on ARCTIC 2nd press/ later releases?, compared with the light blue with blue writing first releases. Also did ARCTIC have styrene original presses?

In all the time I was collecting northern, I never saw a blue/black that wasn't a re-issue. Same goes for styrene.

I had most of the stuff worth having on Arctic and the rule of thumb I used was that the in demand stuff should be just like the "crap" that no one in thier right mind would have booted.

I did come across dj copies that were sus, but most seemed real.

For a long time the word on the Volcano's "The laws of love" was that the emo's that turned up couldn't be real, because the original said "The rules of love". I had both and other than the obvious misspelling and wear and tear they were identical.

not sure about that. some of the later ones from circa 1969/70 have blue labels with black writing. i.e the ambassadors storm warning has. ive had 4 copies of this including a white demo, all with black writing. also there are west coast copies like babs masons yes im ready and bobby is my baby on styrene blue issues with black writing. these are originals

Not claiming to be an expert chaps, just trying to help. I too have had a "Help wanted" that was blue/black. It just didn't feel right though.

All of the tracks like Kenny Gamble, Mike & Ike are blue/blue as well as all the Barbara Masons/Della Humphreys et al I have - always nice to hear of other people with "unusual" copies though. And of course there are always those West Coast Parkways to look to for guidance.

That's "Storm warning" blue/blue, "Help wanted" blue/black and "Your number one" white/black : that's label colour /writing respectively. "Laws.." and a few others are upstairs and pretty sure they're white/black.

There were "boots" of some of the Arctic but they're easy to tell.

Don't know why there's this sudden doubt being cast on Arctic 45s especially assertion that there were no Kenny Gamble's "Joke.." until it went big or whatever "Fingers" was trying to say.

As far as i know, some of the originals appeared with both blue and black script. Not to be confused with the boots, of whatever. Also have various issues with different scripts, from different pressing runs. Saw at least 3 Barbara Mason's "Yes i'm ready" with different scripts, that look legit.

Got a styrene copy of "Ain't got the love" The Ambassadors WDJ. It's got the Frankford-Wayne stamp in the runout grooves, and also a triangle (no circle in the middle). With the no's 75756 next to it. And has a raised cricle near the center hole on the label. "Music" has the same but with MR in a circle, Monarch? Again as far as i was aware it was authentic, anybody? Never seen another like this.

By the way. The vinyl boots of these and other Virtue stuff, rere legal reissues done by Frank Virtue with advice from John Anderson. Don't know who did the styrene ones though?

its easy really. the first 50 odd issues were blue with dark blue writing, virtue scratched etc. they all look the same. as i said the later ones have black writing. some of the better selling ones were pressed up on the west coast. these are styrene with delta stamps starting with a 5,6 or 7.the rarer pieces on styrene are boots (kenny gamble, billy floyd etc) i think some of these are delta stamped but start with a 9 or 10
