The Mystery of Junior McCants - Cincinnati Library Panel
An interesting article shows up online via the Cincinnati.com website, not just looking at the story behind Junior McCants but passing on news of a upcoming panel discussion at the library called “Listen to This: The Mystery of Soul Singer Junior McCants” A preview below of the article and the link to the full article follows.... Commercially, that was true. From 1965 until it closed Cincinnati operations in 1971, the Hardest Working Man in Showbiz kept King alive with Top 40 smashes like “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag.” Otherwise, the rest of King’s artists had records that rarely amounted to much, either because they were unfamiliar names or were veterans who had seen better days (and material). But one King R&B artist of that period — a Cincinnati native named Junior McCants — has turned out to have quite a following, especially in England, although he didn’t live to see it. In fact, he’s become important enough to merit a panel discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County, 800 Vine St. in Downtown. Called “Listen to This: The Mystery of Soul Singer Junior McCants,” the free presentation will play his music and have interviews, live or recorded, with family members and McCants’ producer and songwriter, Charles Spurling, who worked for King in the 1960s as a talent scout and recording artist. Northern Soul The Film - See It At The Cinema
no probs, thanks for reply on the thrust of this thread, I think myself having a more general approach is working ok at the moment, if we did start sectioning off different threads for different aspects of the discussion/news about the film, then we could end up with 3 or 4 or even more film related threads all running at the same time, which may be a bit ott too much caffeine here at moment

C4 Paul Mason Asks - Will Northern Soul The Movie Spark A
Will Northern Soul the movie spark a cultural revival? - It’s a week to go until Northern Soul, the movie about the 1970s British dance craze, hits the cinemas — and something unusual is happening. There is a mass social media based “thing” going on. Having started out planning to show the movie at a few selected cinemas, and for a short run, cinemas have been deluged with requests — indeed campaigns — to show it all over Britain. As things stand, when it comes out next Friday, the film will, say its backers, be the “widest-ever short-window feature film release”. Some 125 cinemas are set to screen the film — including one where the entire cinema has been booked out by a single person, and the tickets simply distributed among his friends. More are being added through “ourscreen” — crowd-funded showings organised by cinema goers... the other one mentioned is now online Northern Soul: Behind the scenes of the film the mentions of some of the problems faced makes it a more interesting read than some of the usual press stuff around imo https://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/11140553/Northern-Soul-Behind-the-scenes-of-the-film.html

malc and others , if want to suggest or comment on site stuff then its always best if use the support forum rather than tack it on posts, as we don't see every post/thread/suggestion on this from a site angle I don't think pinning is best suited pinning is usually used for more static site related type threads/posts active threads don't usually need pinning as with them being active they are already fairly visible thanks mike
