Lookback At Monkey Llandudno Sat 07th May
Lookback At Monkey Llandudno Sat 07th May 3 years since the very first monkey and could say things have changed a bit since those days! One slight change, that there is a slight chance some may have noticed, is that the main nights have moved. No more hanging out in the good old borderlands, instead have moved about 50 miles away to the North Wales coast in Llandudno Thanks to Chico's fine efforts a new venue has been sorted, well say new but as it is The Penrhyn Old Hall in Llandudno, some may say “revived” as was the home of the highly rated soul nights that were held there around 7 years ago. The venue is a large listed 16th century manor hall here, and while on the outside it looks just like that, once inside the building there is a bit of a tardis effect. The dance complex part is purpose made for such an event, dj booth, a unusual floor and layout, all a bit different from the usual but sort of tailor made if know what I mean, and have to say that apart from Chico having to do a bit of tomfoolery with the sound system, any night which after 10 mins of turning up the venue is ready to roll is a most welcome change! Crowd wise was great to have such a good turn out for the first one at a new location, and had many dmsc regulars showing up, which along with many new faces got this new series of events off to a flying start with a fresh vibe. Thanks to all the travelers who made the trip from all over- Chester , Kent, Hampshire, Wirrall, Manchester, Midlands, Yorkshire and so on and of course thanks to all those from North Wales. Sounds wise, guest for this one was Andy Dyson who did a great set, rest of the dj line up was as per the flyer/plays below and going by ears and eyes( as in floor reaction and feedback both on and after night ) did the business. Grabbed a mixed grab bag of sounds from all involved on night give idea of what was thrown out Andy Dyson Dennis Edwards- Johnny On The Spot- Int Soulville Rita+Tiaras - Suprise -C/Up 4 Dynamics-Things That A Lady Ain't Supposed To Do- Peachtree J.J .Jackson - Too Much Love-C/Up Jerry Williams -Ordinary Girl - C/Up Emory + Dynamics -Let's Take A Look -Peachtree Flirtations- Stronger Than Her Love- Festival Mark Speakman Prophets - One Gold Piece - SHRINE Margaret Little - Love Finds A Way - GREENBRO Billy Arnell - Tough Girl - HOLLY Jackie Day - Naughty Boy - PHELECTRON Fuzz - I'm So Glad - CALLA Paul Anka - I Can't Help Lovin' You - RCA Billy Arnell - Don't Stop The World - C/U Topics - Rose - Acetate Steve Thomas trey jays - i found a love in you dream girl -spiedels twinkle little star -parisans try my love- Tony & The Showmen delegates of soul cover up Phil Blacknell The Fabulous Apollo's-The One Alone-Val tone Ella woods-I need your love-Merging Annabelle Fox-Lonely Girl-Satin Johnny Truit-Just the other day-Abet The Topics-Booking up Baby-Mercury Minnie Jones-Shadow of a memory-Sugar Delegates of Soul-I'll be coming back -Uplook Moses Smith - Keep on Striving-Cotillion Flowers-For real-Laxpressio Bill Brandon- The streets got my lady-Piedmont Ritchie Andrew Frankie & the Damons Man from soul JCP. Anyway thanks to all who were there, djs, event staff, door team and of course all who come in thru door, all feedback have had is was a great nite, to me place had a great buzz, crowd was up for it and up amongst best monkeys have had. Next definite one at Old Hall is Friday 27 Aug (gap due to summer) and looks like going to be a big one as can be billed either as first time at monkey for Soul Sam (dj-ing not as a punter that is) or can be classed as a welcome return to the Old Hall for him! few words on nite from Janine and Dave and a few pics in Janines album Thanks to Colin and Jean for hospitality afterwards, think Dave and Janine were the furthest travellers, and was good to catch up again with loads

Northern Northern Soul V
Most members have took notice of the request to try and get the balance of off topic posts right, however its a pain to see one which was going well been damaged this way by a few members. "Interesting threads" are the lifeblood of this forum, to see one being choked by a few members, who for some reason think its ok to post up a constant stream of off topic/in-jokes/chat, is annoying and is unacceptable. These recent off topic posts are out of order to the topic starter, and to the members who have contributed or are following the thread and are out of order to the forum itself. Thread is now open, the three members involved in the last spate of off topic posts should be aware that if similar occurs action will be taken
