had to smile at the use of this term its used in a article on a sweet floral albion site TOY TOWN SOUL: Those tracks once played at the Wigan Casino in the second-half of the '70s but which fell out of favour with the Northern soul scene's snobbish reaction against white pop-stompers and a return to black-only US soul, often provide the richest vein for this magical sub-genre. The Northern Soul scene was always way ahead of psych collectors in unearthing those golden Brit-pop nuggets. It is also interesting to take note of the sounds on these pre-1967 pop-soul tracks and to recognise the influence of such material on the toy-town pop of 1967 and 1968. Other good examples of toytown soul/pop are, Sue Lynne - 'Don't Pity Me', Paula Parfitt - 'Love Is Wonderful', Five And A Penny - 'You Don't Know Where Your Interest Lies' and Adrienne Posta's version of 'Something Beautiful'. Adrienne takes a fine mid-tempo US soul original (by Margaret Mandolph) and transforms it into a twee and chirpy Brit-pop dancer. What it loses in genuine, serious soulfulness it more than makes up in happy tweety swinging poppiness. In fact, it is a genre distinction of toytown soul that it lacks overt seriousness, that the soul element be minimised in favour of out-and-out pop..... full article in which above is clipped can be found at the SWEET FLORAL ALBION SITE on this page https://homepage.ntlworld.com/marmaladeskies/sfa36.htm also pysch northern gets a mention on other page below *** IT'S ONLY A NORTHERN PSOUL, by Paul Hodges *** https://homepage.ntlworld.com/marmaladeskies/sfa22.htm

  9. Hey controversial wasn't the issue As said I thought that this thread was going down road of slagging off scenes Yeah sure bit of a windup/crack is good laugh, but can almost guarantee that some old northern/caister head on reading this thread would feel obliged to join in with similar posts. Then before know it, end up with a couple of pages of slagging down. Thats why comments posted If got any issues about moderation on here, works better if pm site rather than do it online

just so aware a post was posted regarded a event the post was felt to be by a member pasing on that someone is blaming someone for something however as due to the title and the way internet works it could be taken other ways the site thought best to remove it bit of a roundabout explanation but if you read post you know what we mean
  15. thought this may happen, got a email of your man, as of interest thought worth a pass on, however have to ask again, any future comments please post in the forum not email via site ta mike Please forward this message to the guy name Trouble, because he seems to be having trouble with the information regardng a bootleg record I am suppose to be distributing or selling on Ebay. Please inform him that I am willing to send him a copy of the first 45 rpm of the Mixed Emotions Record "Gold of my life" for him to compaire with the European boots that he may have or any of his frends may have, Their are violines on the original first copies pressed in 1975, I made more than one pressing of the records in 1975, the pirators were distributing the second pressings in Europe, no one have ever heard to my knowledge the first pressings. The First Pressings in fact does have the (Arrangers name on the label) and it also has strings on the record. If any DJ in the UK want to settle the question of me bootlegging my records or if this in fact is a different recording, have them to send me the postage so that they will not be feeding false information the their viewers. Once again I never authorized any of the Mixed Emotions recordings tobe sold to the General public, that is why all of the recordngs from 1975 until this day are BOOTLEGS, if they want the real deal check out Ebay.
