What a FANTASTIC prospect !! And one I would MOST DEFINATELY feel privileged to show 100% support to. Even if only for purely selfish reasons, I would want - No.. NEED, to be one of the first in the queue for each performance !! I, too, would welcome the earliest opportunity to arrange subscription to any potential membership list. Can I offer immediate remit of a realistic sum (but cheap at ANY price.. imo) as deposit for my tickets for the first THREE gigs NOW, please ?? Perhaps not such a 'flippant' statement, after all - as that also presents opportunity to reinforce, if not create, a potentially (and envious) strong position.. where the massive financial requirements, likely to be involved in this type of project, are concerned. Food for thought there, maybe ?? Prompted by this thread to reminisce about the live acts I'd witnessed (only during the mid-to late 70's..) I quickly remembered how 'special' each of those occasions were, and the unique memories created as a consequence. To have a chance to experience more of those totally magical moments leaves me salivating profusely !! I look forward to (hopefully) being a part of some 'future' Historic, iconic 'Soul Music' experience(s), and can forever proudly turn around and say "I was THERE.. " !! Can't wait !! Fingers..
  2. That is a MAJOR problem - if there are things in there that are One-Off's, for example.. they are also potentially lost to the world !! A piece of history GONE, KAPUT !! The entire world is denied any future benefit - derived when something is in existence, as opposed to just memories or pictures, for example !! That is potentially HOW GRAVE this thieving of records is. To reiterate Mr Dyson's sentiments - I don't think any soulie, that could help in these items safe retrieval, would be doing it for a reward.. rather, the common bond between members of our sub-culture is incentive enough. I wish you the best. Fingers
  3. You know me though, Ken, lad.. TALKING LOUD, and SAYING NOTHING Anyway.. I was refering to Vince being personal - not you !! You Wan**r !!
  4. You call Vince 'A Cock'.. but what's that I espy adorning the chair pictured in your avatar, Mark.. Completely agree with Vince's 'prerogative' thought process - 'if you don't ask..' 'n all that. BUT - at the same time, remembering we are ALL entitled our individual opinions, there is NO NEED to make things personal. Now - Kiss and make-up... There.. isn't that SOOOOO much better ?? you two tosspot mother fu**ers Fingers...
  5. I always believed the ORIGINAL version to be that of Archie Bell & The Drells 'Tighten Up' !! With the others just being takes of that ?? Or am I just plain stupid ?? (Answers NOT required.. ) Fingers..
  6. I used to play this at the East Anglian 'Niter & Dayer promotions circa 1978 - 1981/2.. on a yellow World Pacific 45 I believe. It was a fave 'floor RAMMER' - particularly with the mod/skinhead dominated Kings Lynn All Dayers (was it the Y.M.C.A. ??). The fact it was a vocal to an extremely popular instrumental of the era certainly helped elevate it to the level of success I enjoyed with it - I've always championed known songs with a 'twist'.. and STILL do. I would play it in most of my sets at the time - with it being a major spin for me. UNTIL it was replaced by the vocal of a future 'Top 500' record.. (Nev Wherry - who was responsible for turning it up.. two copies, one of which he sold to me for £20, which had the sleevenotes with it - would play the instrumental as they were very much 'En-Vogue' at the time..) Jimmy Fraser 'Of Hopes & Dreams..' on Columbia !! Not a lot of people know that !! Fingers..
  7. Killa, Karl Rhodes, Karl Heard, Dave Rivers & Stuart Cheetham..
  8. Someone ?? Anyone.. ?? PLEASE.. ??
  9. WANTED: Carole Waller 'This Love Of Mind' (USA) Please PM with details.. Fingers..
  10. Oh !! Errr.. Right !! Okay then.. Yes !! Got That.. (NOT !!) Thanx then, Rich. Sooo, from that, I can take it as being: 'Absotively, Posolutely' - UNDECIDED !! then ?? Fingers..
  11. "You learn sumfink new, everyday.." Could somebodypeeps please kindly confirm - that the 'B' side to 'This Diamond Ring' - Sammy Ambrose on Musicor.. namely: 'Bad Night' (and credited as 'Sammy Ambrose') is, in actual fact, the instrumental to the topside ?? Your immediate response is SOOOOOO urgently required !! (and is most graciously accepted, with eternal gratitude in return) to prevent further needless !! (and RAPID) deterioration - of one's remaining digits.. by way of biting one's 'Nails'(!?!) in anticipation.. Ta very much as like, Fingers..

Johnny Weston took my issue off me at the Marrs 'niter on Sunday - don't know if it was for himself, or re-sale.. but might be worth a shout ??
  13. Certainly seemed to be 'On One' there.. more a case, though, of 3rd Day Syndrome than the stubs in the ears John ('though I agree - it is about time I did something about them - surgery always scares the hell out of me though !! ) You are - of course, correct in your statement.. I can offer no explanation other than that above (or, perhaps, I was side-tracked by the KR issue - and I fell by the wayside somewhere ??). Your collection is, from memory, certainly one to be envied - and it is you, in fact, I offer my eternal thanks to.. for my Roy Hamilton RCA album !! So pleasurable to be amongst kindred spirits. Oh! - and where is it you are from again, now ?? Oh yes !! Of course.. EAST ANGLIA !! Now.. what is it I've been saying (for Years !!) about the 'Unsung' individuals based in our fair climes that have been responsible (and still are) for significant contributions to our much loved Soul Scene ?? Fingers..
  14. Isn't this on an LP, too.. ?? Sure I got it somewhere - will have a dig around..
  15. Those of you out there who are both 'Shrewd', and who appreciate 'Quality', but that don't know this 'Ultra Classy' piece - would do well to invest 25 notes !! A better 'Speculative Investment' you will be hard pushed to find. I KNOW !! 'Cos I just purchased a copy on 45 myself !! FORGET the Investment side of it, anyway - 'cos once you hear it.. you ain't gonna want to get rid of it !! Fingers..
  16. Hey John !! I put 'Alternative' as in (effectively - though not strictly) a 'Cover' - being more associated with the same record performed by a different artist. Some, though, being an alternative take on an earlier releases - as with the Silhouettes 1968 version of their '58 number 1 smash 'Get A Job'. It's exactly the same record, performed by the same artists - but with a completely different arrangement and production.. resulting in a seemingly completely different record altogether. The Temptations 'Who You Gonna Run To' was released as a 45 on VIP by Mickey McCullers (flip to 'Same Old Story' - which, itself, saw an earlier Tamla release, with a different flip). Kiki Dee is a cover of the Spiral Staircase classic, only. It was never put out on 45 by Kiki. The Jackie Wilson 'My Heart..' a version of the Magnificents 45 on Dee Gee - again, Jackie's take has never seen 'official' 45 release.. but Kev Roberts (I believe) is responsible for it's appearance on the back of a 45 'release' with 'Because Of You' !! If that's legit.. then all my missing digit's will return to their former selves just as soon as I simply instruct them to !! Yea.. Right !! And I don't suppose Salman Rushdie is 'Ex-Directory' ?? or, that the Pope is NOT a Catholic ?? - and that he does NOT have a balcony, either ?? Uh Huh.. But you get the giste.. As some of my 'Alt's' are, in fact, the 'original' versions it would be wholly inappropriate to refer to them as 'Covers' - hence the decision (in the absence of one, truly definitive, word) to put them forward as 'Alternative' in that sense only. I'm still currently only a third of the way through a fairly recent 'Job Lot' purchase of albums (nearly 400) - so still 'discovering' things not previously known to me. All good fun. Would relish an insight as to some of the content you describe - are they all lifted from personal collection pieces ?? or compiled from various medias ?? I have several copies of cd's to run off this week anyway, and will happily include a copy of this one for you. Let me have an addy for delivery at some point matey, and will sort it out this week. Nice One Fingers..
  17. WoW !! Thanx very much indeed for your positive comments, ajb - I wasn't expecting any real 'feedback', as such - rather, more like 'passing' comments on selected tracks maybe.. or a particular 'over all' personal favourite CD sort of thing - but.. your sentiments are truly most kind and further serve to act as fuel to stoke this furnace of enthusiasm, I'm obsessed by, for this beloved Soul music we all so much enjoy. Whilst hearing (as expected, I think) a fair proportion of 'known' tunes (with some too long unplayed - so it transpires.. !!), and a good size chunk of 'first timers' - some right up 'my alley' and some not. Some real 'class' pieces with some 'just okay'. More additions to the 'Look Out For' & 'Must Have' sections of the (seemingly endless) volumes of my personal 'Encyclopedia of Wants & Desirables' along with an odd few where it was (simply.. !!) a case of 'The computer says No !!' The benefits of being involved in this type of thing far outway the necessary time to create, produce and dispatch one's own personal contribution - the educational aspect being rapidly increased, pro-rata to the volume of individual tracks participants are pleasantly 'bombarded' with, over such a relatively short period of time. Excellent !! Would like to say to Mr Steele: Cliffe.. Mate - Exceptional, I think. 'Top CD Man' that you undoubtedly are.. Thanx to all (thus far) for the received discs of delights - and to the creators of the one's still to be dispatched/received.. C'mon you lot .. I'M GETTIN' HUNGRY!! My insatiable appetite requires CONSTANT sustenance.. Fingers..
  18. 12 received thus far Chris. I've still yet to check out Dave McRae's - it arrived day's ago.. SORRY DAVE !! and Emjay's arrived this morning. Probably put them on the deck for the drives to Burnley and Worcester this weekend (plus any that might arrive in the interim). My only comment thus far is to praise all the individuals for, seemingly, 'sticking to their guns' with play selections - certainly no displays of 'one-upmanship' which I'm very pleased about. Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y !! Fingers..
  19. After my CD recorder messing me about (twice - completely wiped out, first 7 then 16, tracks from my 'Master' disc) I am pleased to announce my offering is complete and is currently in mass copy mode !! So.. all my mailings will see arrival throughout next week. Made it something a bit 'different' in that all tracks are lifted ONLY from LP's. Some nice alternate versions of a few things, some are LP only.. plus it includes an educational aspect - in the form of information as to some of what is actually out there in LP format (& an idea as to some things available from 'other' countries). Have tried to cover a broad spectrum of tastes in the hope there is something for everyone. For the benefit of those reading this thread that aren't privvy to 'The Swap' I include details of my compilation below, Don't know if it's correct 'etiquette' for these swaps - but, if anyone NOT in the swap fancies a copy of my CD.. just let me know & I'll gladly run a copy off !! Ta.. Fingers
  20. Just to update peeps as to my CD - due to working away past week or so not even got my Master copy done!! BUT.. I have sorted which pieces are being included and I'm back home this evening.. so all will be copied and sent out by mid-end of w/c 12 May. Just hope it's worth waiting for !! Fingers
  21. Your last paragraph accentuates and embraces exactly, for me, the intention of the theme for this CD swap. It doesn't have to require a mortgage to purchase a superb record (of which there are hundreds, or thousands maybe ) but at the same time there are also hundreds of superb records that DO cost vast amounts of money !! Price attachment should be discounted, entirely, from the compiling process when assessing inclusion for final end product. I believe 'Quality' should take precedence over cost - any day of the week. But it doesn't mean that because big money discs are included (which is inevitable, really) they should be viewed in a context of the Composer trying to gain any type of 'One-Upmanship'. Instead - judged on the individual merits of the record. After all.. with some of these 'Rare' items, there simply aren't enough copies available to allow other people the benefit of hearing, on a regular basis, a class tune thay might adore. Should they be denied that opportunity ?? Of course not !! Nuff said.. On with The Swap !! Fingers..

'Tis the same 'myth' known to me - if it is, indeed, a picture of 'Judy' on the front of Ms. Mason's album 'Something Wonderful !' (with 'A good Kind Of Hurting' - LP only.. truly Awesome !!) and as Ali G might put it.. 'Ayye !! me 'JuDy' - she be Well Fit.. innit !!' A_Good_kind_Of_Hurting_Tina_Mason_Capitol_LP.mp3
  23. It's an LP Mossy - late 60's / early 70's poss ?? First time I'd ever come across this - and I 've been through 'A few' albums over the years.. Ain't found nothing on the label yet.. but still digging !! Fingers..
