A few there do, but sadly I'm unable to challenge your point in general. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated; I can't stand when someone sets themselves up as an authority on something and then gets it bass ackwards (maliciously, no less). Some weird vendetta, I'd guess; I can't find the previous comments in the site's history, so a refresher smackdown would be helpful if you've got a moment to do it. Thanks!

https://recordcollectorsguild.org/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=60818&highlight=&sid=2dd7a002215fb608ae0ac926bd4d1f71 I'd appreciate if you'd read the comments by "Global Dog Productions" at the link (it's not lengthy) and refute them - it's not the first time he's said this about Manship (or Pat Boone, for that matter). I'd love to see you register at that site and tear the comments apart right there, but if you CBA then I'd be happy to quote what you might reply here. In advance, thank you!

- unknown- - -unknown- - Identify from the soundclip, I mean (the label info isn't clear to me, somehow). Much appreciated!

How did you come to realise this? I must have missed the post accusing you of theft, all I saw was a question.
-
Ah, I see what you mean...maybe so! Yes, I've got one of those as well, thought this one might be interesting in that it seems less well-known.

Thanks, Ady. I'd thought that, too, about the small hole example (that the center had just not been knocked out), but the diameter of that center section is a bit smaller than the standard large-hole 45.

OK, I've set up a lottery system to sort through all the private message I've received from people who want my extra copy. Well, there's not been any inquiries, I'm kidding. Nor, obviously, any comments on the two sound clips above. Not even a "those tracks are dire, are you daft, man?". And I think I know why. It's because I'm a Yank, isn't it? I can handle the truth, don't hold back. I know that, in addition to all the negatives normally associated with Americans, we're now seen as endlessly excoriating Bri...uhh, BP Corporation. Well, I haven't done so! I'm an Anglophile, I believe in the "special relationship"! So, anyway....we don't think much of the songs, right?

Any good? What do you make, if anything, of the small-holed variety (still U.S., probably, right?). Feedback appreciated. Furys - Over You - Furys - So Tuff -

A couple of years ago there was an Ebay'er with just three or four feedbacks (all as a buyer) who listed an impossible Five Sharps "Stormy Weather" 78, a nearly impossible Stones "Street Fighter Man" pic sleeve, and a few others records, as well as some ultra-rare vase and whatnot; the buyer said his grand-dad had passed away and left him the stuff. All went into the thousands, and none were ever delivered (as I recall, the Five Sharps had been photoshopped from Tefteller's website). It's funny how far people will go when they hope that something is true.

Thank you! As for set sales, I'm not smart enough to know where to put the marker.

That's the way. Apply a few drops, let it sit there a bit, sop it up with some tissue, and repeat. Lighter fluid dries on contact and is good for loosening the sticker but not nearly as good at removing the residual stickiness. Lighter fluid should not, imo, ever come into contact with grooves.

The postage price from U.S. > U.K is the same from every American state. Prices rose just a bit recently. I mailed a few 45s today, and the weight of the packages (U.S. box, two pieces of cardboard, record sleeved and in plastic and wrapped in a sheet of newspaper) varied between 5.4 and 5.8 ounces - all other aspects being exactly the same, the difference is entirely in the weight of the records themselves. At these weights, the postage is $ 5.64. If someone eliminated all or most of the packing and shipped in cheaper cardboard, anything to get the weight below 5 ounces, then the cost to ship would fall to $ 4.80.

What If You Win It Cheap And They Won't Sell?
hrtshpdbox replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
I often get "seller's remorse" (always accompanied by "why didn't I use a starting price I could live with?"), but of course I always send them regardless. A recent buyer doubted it, though; in New York, just a couple hundred miles from me, they claimed they didn't get a record, I immediately refunded them in full (just 18 dollars, so not the end of the world), then they used my quick refund as "proof" that I hadn't sent the record - they denied my Final Value Fee refund on the grounds that I was dishonest and wanted to resell the record for a higher price! They also called me an assortment of names (I refused to respond, as it was immediately clear they weren't dealing with a full deck). So, after calling Ebay and demanding/getting my FVF back, I was out a record (and NYC is not at all a problem area to mail to), and waiting for bad feedback - fortunately that never happened (I'm sure they stumbled on the record under a pile of magazines in their foyer or something, and had a laugh at my expense). -

Grading is a difficult art, but the seller had better be conservative about it or he'll run into problems. With many, or even most, records there are two differeng grades, the visual and the audio, and the seller absolutely needs to quote the lesser of the two. There's obviously no point calling a pristine looking record that nonetheless crackles "NM" - it's just not. I've had records that visually grade VG and sound much better; in an auction (where the proof is in the sound clip pudding, and sound clips are mandatory) I'll mention that it "sounds better", and to please listen to the clip - but it's still a VG record. The British "EX" seems, to me, to cover too wide a swathe; I try hard to make distinctions between VG+, VG++ and NM actually mean something. VG+ had better sound good in the clip, or it's not right grading it even that highly.

I'd say to throw out popsike results completely, take the lowest price from a reputable gemm seller, subtract 30% from it, and there's your "value".

Every example I've seen has it the other way 'round, "Diane & Annita". Just wondering if anyone here has seen it like this, with Annita getting top billing. Please excuse the dodgy looking label, I've just removed masking tape that was over the "Wand" on each side, still need to get the residual glue off - the record plays nicely enough, though!
