  2. Excellent and thought provoking post Krissi. I admire your 'thirst' for the vibe. My son in law is 'new' to the scene and is experiencing that 'thirst' at the moment. As a few of the others have said you cant recreate what is was like back in the late 60's and 70's. What you are seeng/experiencing now is a completely different animal. Back in those days the atmosphere was key to it all--made by the music, the people(majority were in the early 20's and younger)and..probably the era we lived in. Now to the music--yes you're right it wasn't all Al Wilson, Dobie Gray etc--there were loads that are for want of a better phrase forgotten oldies. A lot of venues up and down profess to play these at their nights and some still sound as fresh as when they had 'their 15 mins of fame' in 197whatever. Now the trick is--and this is the 'Lost Ark'--to play the sounds AND have the atmosphere. Of course there will be loads of opinions on this --and this is mine--but not every 'do' at the mo can claim to have it. Possibly you ought to try the Kings Hall--I notice in your post you'd stopped going. I went on saturday gone and it was rammed--hot and sweaty. Yes they play some classics but also mixed in with a few forgotten oldies and also current biggies that have the 100mph vibe--and importantly are dancers. Me son in law was fcukin gobsmacked Also possibly try Blackpool Tower Weekender--probably not for the purists--but a pretty good atmosphere can be generated in there to similar type of music to Kings Hall. One of the problems you'll have(its probably a good un) is taking it all in. Backe then we didn't have that many records to learn and take on board in comparison to now. Theres another 35+ years of tunes to wade through ---but dont forget the acid test---proper northern soul kicks you in the proverbials 2 final points. Yes we were lucky and priviliged to have been a part of that era--and can look back with fond memories and yes thats a crackin idea am with you on that--------lets buy everyones stompers up for a quid each

......here is your moment of fame. Wonder what part this is for...... .Thought they had finished the filming ages ago .. Best not make a mess on saturday night at the nighter ..they are filming the next day Hi all, Firstly, apologies for the large group e-mail but as I'm sure you will appreciate it is often the best way to get a message out there. Back in August and September of last year you were involved (or showed an interest in being involved) as an extra on the production Souled Out. Since then we've been in the edit for the film and everyone is very happy with the way things are going thus far. As is customary with feature film production we're now at a stage where we're returning to Stoke on Trent to film some new scenes in order to complete the film. With this in mind we are again looking for eager and enthusiastic individuals to join us on set on the days outlined below. As before, the extra work is unpaid but we are able to provide food and drink during filming as well as cover up to £10 per day in travel expenses (on production of appropriate receipts). On the below dates we are looking for individuals under 30 to play 1970's Wigan casino goers. Sunday 31st May - King's Hall, Stoke 12pm-10pm*Monday 1st June - King's Hall, Stoke 5pm-10pm*Tuesday 2nd June - King's Hall, Stoke 12pm- 8pm*(*Times are approximate) In addition to the above dancing Casino goers we are also looking for a small select number of extras (age isn't as important) on: Saturday 30th MayMonday 1st June - 1 ELDERLY LADY (10:30am - 5pm) Wednesday 3rd June 3pm-8pm If you are available and interested (or know someone who may be) then please e-mail me at this address with your name, age, sex, availability, mobile phone number and a recent photograph. We may already have these on file but it will be useful to gather the information again for this specific period of filming. Thanks again, Ed -- Extras co-ordination Souled Out - The Film https://www.souledoutfilm
