  1. ..the boot circa '74..had it all the time..
  2. well a genuine dated M48/50 is hard to come by..dont forget tthe US made that style (fishtail) into the 70's..i have WW2 TYPE M43 combat jkt (made postwar for Nato troops) virtually identical in same OD sateen cotton or later M50/51 which is a longer jkt..almost parka length,,.if your interested..both ex stock unissed...
  3. great 45..bought one recently for £120..worth every penny..
  4. just remembered..i had a boot of this..was playin it to dave Rais..and we thought she was singing Dandruff ..at the begining..funny the things you remember...

  7. anyone remember a 45 that was maybe covered up as 'Moonrockin' by the Gamarons? or did it exist or a combination of either?..ive it written in a book as one to look out for..around 74/75 ish..puzzled....
  8. if its a demo..thinl it'll be white..issue is yellow/purple..
  9. thanks for the info...always loved it myself..prob correct in that it has little true soul..but bags of Northern...
  10. ..ALWAYS WONDERED HOW THIS CAME TO BE ONE OF THE BIGGEST INST OF THE EARLY NORTHERN SCENE..AS IT WAS AN LP ONLY TRACK (AT THE TIME) WHO FIRST CAME UPON IT..WHERE WAS IT PLAYED FIRST..I THINK I FIRST HEARD IT AT THE LEEDS QUEENS HALL IN '74..MIGHT HAVE BEEN SOMEWHERE EARLIER..
  11. pm's please..with price and condition..postage etc..
  12. ..my interpretation would be this..first issue or demo primarily US but also UK if a release or demo around the same time..also 60's UK TMG's..i would also include second issues from 60's very early 70's..a general attempt to restrict records to some kind or original or as near can be..trying to avoid the 70's onwards boots, and Uk issues/reissues that were available during Northern souls heyday..other discs acceptable would be unissued/unreleased from the archives like Kent ..also vintage acetates...Uk only first issues..or 2nd issues if reissued soon after..i means if its a boot or a commonly available UK issue to cater for northern demmand SHOULDN'T BE PLAYED AT AN OVO EVENT..this to me means trying to play something that has a certain vintage/credibility..
  13. ..first thing to remember.. Northern soul has never been exclusively black!..far from it..and trying to separate black from white is virtually impossible..if you go further down the line how many white people were involved with a Northern song? session men, writers, producers, arrangers etc..its always about the record..I still like keith & gary Lewis..more from a nostalgia view..but dont like Muriel Day, Peggy march..and its interesting to also recall those who tried to distance/slag off white northern after they'd been playing it for years..(Levine amongst others)..i stand alongside black and white..there are as many crap black records as white (soul) but 40 odd years after Northern soul became, the pot is drying out..so records never before considered are now accepted and sometimes raved about...i would say if you dont like Paul Anka or Michael & Raymond you are tone deaf! a snob..or have never been to a decent allnighter!
  14. TEN MILES HIGH..DAVID & GIANTS!
  15. never available on 7'' vinyl?
