I have only ever seen one demo and that wasn't for sale. I take it you see them all the time? Anyway, it is a £200 record.

£375 is a mad offer I think. Unless it's for a demo. If I didn't love it so much, or like you Paul, I would snap your hand off!
  3. Did you get a CD from me Cliff? Not that I think you particularly want one. Just that I don't remember you being on my list.
  4. Coming up to the decks is not a problem. It's when people hang around behind you that I don't like. It's ok if you know them. It's when you don't that I get a little nervous. Didn't Ian Cunliffe and someone else have records stolen out of their boxes while they were DJing?
  5. We could all descend on a certain shopping precinct this weekend?
  6. It can be intimidating for oldies like me, so I understand where you are coming from. That said, even the most accomplished mic users don't announce every single record they play. What do you do then? And anyway, you're not telling me you sit or stand there listening to every single word every DJ says?
  7. I said exactly that the last time I got slaughtered for not using the mic. Guess what? I got proper slaughtered for that!
  8. Probably the same way you learn new records when you can't understand a word the DJ says
  9. Hang all that do not orate Nothing to do with having guts. I've used the mic on many occasions. Was quite a chatterbox in the DDA room actually. Just don't see the point. But hey, that's just me and I'm no DJ anyway. Proper or otherwise.

No I didn't Paul. I paid £100 for my second copy. And it wasn't at Burnley. I would put this at £200. Was it you who said show me a copy for £200? I'd say show me a copy for £500! If someone had come on here selling it for that price I can just imagine what the reaction would have been. That said, anyone willing to pay that much for it could always pop along to the Ian Dewhurst thread
  11. No offence AlbertRoss, but now I know it's Groundhog Day
  12. That's not what you said a minute ago James
  13. I hate this too. Maybe talking on the mic takes it out of them
  14. Ha ha... was exactly that... ha ha. As in it made me chuckle. I thought it funny that you said it was a pre requisite that your DJ's talk. For no other reason than I think the music is more important. There was nothing more to it than that. So you can stand down Mr. Dyson.
  15. Ha ha.. we don't tell our DJ's what to play but we tell them they have to talk. Love it
  16. I understand what you are saying Jayne but I have never come away from a venue moaning because the 'talk' wasn't up to much The music yes. Frequently. As for 'someone who can cue a bunch of records' I have to say there is a little more to it than that. There is for me anyway.
  17. DJ's aren't collectors then?
  18. I disagree. I think they are extremely useful things to have. They at least give you an idea of the price of a tune. ie: whether they are a complete no no from the off. And if you read Bri's post properly, he did say not to pay the prices given in them. At the risk of being called a soul snob - I totally agree!
  19. Yes, and his 'Bootleg Guide' is a must have. Especially for folk just starting out!
  20. At the risk of sounding more stupid than usual.. couldn't he do that via his own site? I am sure once the word got out that Tim Brown was wanting to sell off some of his own personal collection, it would cause even more of a stir than this thread has. No disrespect to your thread Ian It just seems very odd that Tim Brown would do business this way. He's not usually this 'messy' when it comes to business is he?
  21. Have to say I usually avoid these threads as I am a cynical old fool and can't help thinking they are a wind up That said, I keep my records in record boxes, I only buy originals, I only buy US records (as a rule) and I don't bother with original covers. But that's just me. Record collecting is a minefield, even to the most seasoned collector. So proceed with caution and don't be afraid to ask for advice on here. We are a helpful bunch and for all our noise are always more than happy to help
  22. Is it me or is it getting like groundhog day on here? That said, I can't resist I for one couldn't care less whether a DJ talks or not. In fact a lot of the time I wish they'd shut the fcuk up! DJ stands for Disc Jockey doesn't it? Not talk as much as you can, as incoherently as you can Jockey. Granted, done well it can be good. But no amount of well delivered flannel is going to make bad records sound good. Like I said, I don't care either way. It's the music I go out for
  23. There are only 2 rules I reckon. Stick with them and you won't go wrong. 1. Buy what you like. 2. Buy originals.
  24. What a mad thread this is One thought has crossed my mind while reading it though... Perhaps Tim didn't want to sell his records via his site because he didn't want them to go through the books as it were. Just a stupid girls thoughts of course.
