Rarer? You sure? I've seen as many Fairmount as I have Hemisphere. I have both. Have to say they sound the same too. As far as I can recall anyway. Been a while since I've played either

Great record. But can I ask why Fairmount only? I'm nosey you see
  3. Lowton Soul Night Hits Its 13th Anniversary this Friday 13th Feb 2009! Friday 13th February 2009 sees LOWTON CIVIC HALL celebrating its 13th ANNIVERSARY. And in these days of a new soul night starting up every other minute, I’m sure you’ll agree 13 years is pretty good going! Originally the brainchild of longstanding local Northern Soul devotees Kev Murphy, Steve Connor and Bill Harrison, and ably assisted/promoted by Lynn (the Lowton Civic Hall Manageress) the birth of this new monthly soul night in February 1996 provided the ideal opportunity to promote a more diverse musical policy from the outset. With a two-room approach, one dedicated essentially to mainstream oldies and a smaller ‘Connoisseur’s’ room embracing different genres of quality soul from all eras (Northern, Crossover 70’s etc.), the venue was an instant success. With DJ’s such as Barry Maleady, Steve Plumb, Bob Hinsley, Soul Sam and top notch regular guests in the ‘Connoisseur’s’ room and Ginger, Andy Dyson, Mick H, Kenny Burrell, Pat Brady and Rob Thomas, to name but a few gracing the decks in the main room, Lowton was hailed in specialist soul magazines like Soul Renaissance as the ‘grass roots’ of the forthcoming Northern Soul Renaissance… little did we know. Today Lowton still delivers on all fronts, with top name DJ’s playing the very best quality soul music from all eras. The only difference being that since January 2007 the ‘Connoisseur’s’ room has been the home of the DDA (Dancing DJ’s Association) who offer you the choice of something a little different to the main room but with no loss of quality. If this has wet your appetite, why not give Lowton Civic Hall at try? Whether you’re into Northern Oldies, current all-nighter rarities or funky crossover, you will not be disappointed. Remember Friday February 13th Lowton celebrates it 13th Anniversary and believe me that will be a fabulous night with Ginger Taylor, Chris King and Dave Evison guesting in the main room along with residents Baz Maleady and Kev Murphy, together with the Dancing DJ’s Association in the back room with Paul Sadot, Karl Rhodes and Joan Livesey and special guests Kev Cane and Colin Denham. Lowton runs on the second Friday of every month between 9pm and 2am and features two great rooms both with large wooden dance floors, excellent sound systems, licensed bars till 1.30am, a record bar and a large car park. Everything to ensure a great night out!

  5. No one's played the vocal out yet though. At least not to my knowledge.
  6. Loads of people are playing it Steve. And they are all playing it as Doni Burdick.
  7. That's what I was saying. Why would anyone even think to cover it up?
  8. If the song wasn't bad enough already - here's the vocal https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYqlDKVKPHA
  9. And especially as more people have it than don't have it Could never get my head round why anyone would want to cover it up in the first place. Who did cover it up first?
  10. Wow. Well done you. That's cheap!
  11. Just read your post properly. No way is this a £150 record. Sorry. Still make Paul an offer. You won't get it for that though!
  12. Paul Sadot has one for sale here. Make him an offer... you never know /Richard...ity-t93159.html

Don't think I could limit myself to a top ten. But the one that would be at the top of the tree would be Eddie Parker 'I'm Gone'. Without doubt the most incredible soul record ever. Imagine being in the studio when they recorded it!
  14. No you're not alone Adam. It's pants

Look on the good side Bearsy... it would have quadrupled if it had been Butch that was playing it I did get my copy off him for £25 however, albeit a very long time ago.

Butch isn't playing Mel Wyn. Not yet anyway

It's nothing like Lee Fields Nev. Mel Wynn is a good record!
  18. But the film only has a Northern Soul 'backdrop'
  19. Come on... who did you think it was?
  20. There isn't a flake of snow here in Preston. In fact it's blue skies and bright sunshine. Albeit a little cold.
  21. I received one from him yesterday. Bit of strange track listing though Problem is I didn't send him one. Didn't see him on the list. Can someone send me his details please?
  22. Matt Brown? I don't believe it!
