Found this scan on Popsike. Don't know if its the same group. Listed as a Garage 45. Thought I would post it anyway.

I just wish Rob had still been around to see the dancefloor completely rammed to the stuff he championed and got slagged off for playing. Come to think of it... all this 'playing to the floor' stuff wasn't around back then was it? Thank God I say! If it had been records such as these may never have gone on to become the monster tunes they are today.

Believe me Bearsy... Rob Marriot had many an empty dance floor to records that pack the dance floor today. The Trannels was another. Thank God people like Rob had faith in records and the guts to continue playing them week after week, despite getting slagged off and clearing the floor. You only have to look at how huge records like the Trannels and the Hyperions went on to become to realise he was right.

Well I think Stevie Wonder is rubbish. You say you don't know how I can say that. I say I don't know how you can't say that. Motown's great though!

Hi Bearsy. I first remember the Hyperions being played around the late 80s early 90s. Rob Marriot's old Escorts cover up if my memory serves me correctly. Used to clear the floor. Can still hear Rob saying over the mic "I'm going to keep on playing it until you dance"

I never have the money to spend on records I do like - let alone records I don't! Not that I would spend it on records I didn't like if I did.
  12. Oooh... count me in!! Paul has got exceptional taste. As do you guys

Being firmly rooted in the 'playlists are a good thing' camp, I really don't get why some people are so against them. While I can understand the point of view that people should get off their arses and go and see for themselves what's being played at different venues - for some people that is just not an option. Personal, family and financial restraints do play a part on what venues people can and do attend these days. And anyway, I am not convinced that refusing to post up a playlist is going entice anyone to travel to a venue. Surely letting people know in advance what they are going to hear at your venue is far better than having people going round telling all their mates that your venue is rubbish because they found it wasn't their cup of tea when they got there. oops.. left an 'f' off my 'of'
  14. I first heard GIYJCW on the very first tape that Rob Marriot ever did me. Did have the LP and played it quite a lot until a radiator melted it

I've never rated Diana Ross either. Going to quote my old pal Robbo here... he once said "without Motown we'd be fcuked"...and he's not wrong.

Have to say I hate just about everything Stevie Wonder has ever done. There's only 'Nothing's Too Good For My Baby' that I can just about stomach. Anyway, as for Motown being any good? ABSOLUTELY. But boy did they turn out some dross in later years.
  17. Great! Unlike a lot of people on here - it doesn't bother me what a record looks like. As long as it plays, that's good enough for me! Well done you!
  18. Wow great find! Does it play despite the three cracks?
  19. Sure Dr. Pickles had one for sale on here earlier this week for £280 I think? Pretty sure it will have gone now though. Worth checking though.
  20. Careful Nev... your sounding a bit like Shep there mate
  21. I'd call his post out of order Nev. Jeez, what's with some people.
  22. I have the other version on Bang Bang. Jeez it's painful!

I'll hold my hands up and admit that I am a right Norman when it comes to what's being played, where and by whom. I think it's an important part of this scene and always have. I just wish the internet had been around right from the start and DJ's had posted their playlists from the beginning. Just think what a great source of reference that would be by now. I know that the main days of hearing brand new tunes are all but dead and gone, but I'd still like to see a section dedicated to playlists from various venues over the country. It will all be Northern Soul History one day.

Thing is though, unless you are Butch or the like, chances are the records you are playing are not your discoveries anyway. So what's wrong with other people playing them? I know it's a bit of a pisser when you play something only to have someone else play it. Believe it or not, it has even happened to me on occaision. But so what? Since when has it become about us? As for finding your own tunes and having faith in them. Yeah I'm all for that. But even you must agree Terry, that doesn't happen very much these days. Not even at Burnley.
  25. It was a HUGE Stafford sound Ezzie Monster! Great tune. Hi Sid
