Great book Sebastian, so many underrated singers from this genre. I've always loved George Soule, Dan Penn, eddie Hinton but there are so many more.

  13. Agreed Matt, David Ruffin still sounds as brilliant as it ever did.
  14. I'm fine mate, I remember a lot more about those times than others as I wasn't taking stuff It was funny though, it was like being in a political party. Don't forget that we were only about 19 when we first went, great days
  15. I remember him playing it at Stafford, he gave it a massive build up before playing it. I'm sure he used to play it a few times a night.
  16. Thanks for all the kind words. As usual I really enjoyed myself, It's just brilliant to finally be able to play all the slower records that deserve hearing. Particular thanks Shaun and to all the guys on the sweet and deep thread
  17. Thanks a lot mate much appreciated, just hope I can keep it going
  18. To be fair Shaun as a tag team I don't think we would have done very well against Giant Haystacks and Kendo Nagasaki Been ok against Larry Grayson and Liberace ! Looking forward to it as ever

Remember that one well Adey, the dj had to climb a set of ricketty stairs to dj and it was a very low ceiling. Rev Tony Clayton was kneeling down djing, mixed toilets, assorted trendies, 60s newies, uneven dance floor, someone going into a coma?

Funny as f*%k mate, I also remember the sensible soul allnighter at the warehouse where the floor was so slippery from condensation and talc that people were falling over all night ( it was like the grand national ) Remember Adey finding a tiny piece of non slippery floor which I tried to share with him Just enough room for two ( two not so little boys !) Still got my Sensible soul card, Cass club anyone?, Le Beat route (50p drinks before 10pm) Jon Pierres ( thursday night until 3am !) General Pickton, Scala allnighters, upstairs at the Astoria,
  22. Big Maybelle - 96 tears and Etta James - I got you babe, both pretty good
  23. Phylis Hyman still sounds fantastic, love the booming bass on it.

Welcome aboard Paul, what a fantastic body of work you've been involved with. I really love the Ebonys and the Rhyze song 'Bizaar' always gets me on the dancefloor
