You could give the prize to the record dealer that is the most organised? I hardly looked through any boxes last year. I bought 2 records i think for £15 off Ben Summers, but as I spent a lot of the weekend behind his boxes it was quite easy to look through, but only looked through about 100 of them. And a few of Rob Messrs records, and thats cos he was next to Ben and it was easy..... On late Sunday afternoon the panic set in that I hadnt looked through any boxes or bought much i walked upto a box arm out stretched and ready to start looking... but I got there and just couldnt be arsed...

Was an official limited quantity single issued, by Sony and Levine carried the number of the single on from the last Okeh single which was issued. Think 3 singles were done in total. Sony got rid (that is probably not the correct term!) of Ebony Alleyne and the album was as you say in the can.

I did not know the dealers name becuase I found it through another site who act as a 'shop front' for various dealers. Now that the name is mentioned I am sure i tried to order something from there a few years ago. Out of stock of course LOL I do not understand the guys philosphy of leaving stuff on his list that he hasnt had for years and by his own admission has a slim chance that he will have again. It clearly pisses him off and us off. I wont bother asking him again if he has a record. Waste of fackin time. And Pete - get your hair cut mate.

I am sure we have all stumbled across websites and thought "wow hit the jackpot here", then after a couple of milliseconds you think, "hang on this site must be really old" - but you still hope. So i came across one of these sites on Sunday night it had hundreds of 45s mainly not soul listed; each letter having one or two pages. I started at 'V' (dunno why) and came across both big Vanguards 45's and the Vellours on issue. All at $8 each. I stopped there deciding that this was too good to be true and decided to enquire before searching all the pages. Good job too. The dealers reply follows. LOL. He's one pissed off person. My reaction is to tell him to take the fackers off his list, stop wasting peoples time, revalue them, get a life or drop dead. Or a simple 'no i havent got them' will have done. Havent replied yet though. All suggestions welcome ////// Dear Sir, thank you for your interest in ordering 45s from our catalog. However i'm afraid that the items you are looking for are currently out of stock. Actually, they've been out of stock for quite a while. Were it up to me, i'd delete them from our files. Why? Simple. The items you are interested in are items that there is a LITERAL WORLD of demand for. That is, the many degrees of "soul". Northern soul, Southern soul, Carribean-beat soul, popvocalist soul, White soul, latin jazz soul, folk/jazz ballads, early funk, and pre-disco. To be frank, we prety much stink at this stuff. Hardly a day goes by where I don't get a big multi-page want list that has Jimmy Radcliffe, Adams Apples, 1619 BAB, Terry *&%$#@!!ing Callier, Teddy Randazzo, Betty Lavette, Bettye Swann, Apostles, Apollas, etc, etc, et al, ad nauseam. Whenever I get one of these lists, I just take out my red pen and mark out the items that, due to incessant demands for, I KNOW that they are OUT OF STOCK. I don't want to sound mean about it, it's just that the demand WAY outstrips the supply! We just don't have it! I would Love to delete most of these from our files, but since there's always a chance that they could show back up (a chance that gets slimmer and slimmer with every passing moment) we do NOT delete listings. Plus, quite a few of you out there are shoppers through the atrocity known as GEMM. GEMM will list all of our stock as being "in stock" and everything will be in "mint to m- condition". Which leads to a LOT of on-line panic buying. That is misleading. We do NOT keep a "running track" of our 45s inventory. If we did, we'd have a lot fewer orders. And i'd have a lot fewer complaints form customers as to "why do you have these listed if you don't have them in stock?" Well, that would make MY life a lot easier. But until then, if you must try from us please give us at LEAST 2 months between tries, as we are constantly getting stock in, but it takes a while to get it processed and up on the shelves. However, if you're still looking for that "soul" stuff, be prepared for a letdown, as I have NOT seen much of it returning to our business....If I EVER see any more requests for that Roy Hamilton ballads stuff, it'll be TOO soon. Sorry about all this, but I figure honesty is the best policy (unlike GEMM) and perhaps you may find a place where this soul stuff is predominant. Unfortunately, that place is not here. Oh yes, every month or so, we will add tuitles to our catalog. When we do that, GEMM will say that we've re-stocked. THAT DOES NOT MEAN EVERYTHING HAS COME BACK IN STOCK!!! Every time we restock and GEMM customers find out, whammo! More of the same. If Pavlov were alive today, he wouldn't need dogs. All he'd have to do is log on thru GEMM!!!!!!!!!!
