  1. Hi Pete, I was injecting a little irony. The scene today, such as it is, is far more open than it was when I first started. It could be a very scarey and intimidating place to be, until you had proved yourself.
  2. Actually, perhaps the time has arrived for us to return to ethics and morals of the early '70s scene. A time when any newcomer or unknown face turned up they were welcomed with the 1000 yard stare, and were lucky to go home in the clothes they stood up in....
  3. I concur.. We are all guilty of judging the book by it's cover, and I've seen the odd time when some of the uniformed faithful arrive and thinking "Whoops, they're not going to enjoy this" and being pleasantly surprised.... I have also seen the opposite...play summat we know..wade in the water ..anything......
  4. I am sure that many would be welcome at the "rarer" nights, but, would they be prepared to accept something different from their imprinted soundtrack.??
  5. I am very very sorry, but I can't resist..... Ahem, I see they have Loo Rolls on there
  6. Hi , got that and only just noticed the Tony Lamarr thing now you pointed it out... D'oh..
  7. Gee Zuss, How many pages would we be up to if it had been on a full hour
  8. Thought that the US issues were only the live version.

The Bible ??? Bugger, I thought it was Freddie Scott Actually the only thing getting my goat is the assumption that all soul nights are of a poor standard and that all Allniighters are brilliant, cos they're not and they're not...
  10. Anybody read Logan's Run ??
  11. The US don't have exclusive rights to flavour of the month tossers or badly written/ researched scripts. Paul O'Grady, anyone? or my own personal "fave" Stuart Maconie
  12. Yes, That was a good programme, probably being torn to shreds on Boxing Forums as we speak
  13. And its a good question Phil, that's been around since "This England" Thing is you don't get into it. IT gets into you... I have said before that I walked into The Pendulum as a young soul fan ( from hearing Motown and Club soul) and was completely blown apart by what I was hearing.. next mission.. hear more
  14. Same as that, but unfortunately, like a lot of things, some took it too far
  15. 3 or 4 of us, yeah. I wasn't there after 78
  16. I have said a million times that by and large baggies were the current fashion of the day, can't but an exact date on it, but 76/77 a lot of the Manchester lads went back to straight legs levis, loafers and fred perrys, very retro
  17. When we/I first started you were treated with caution until you'd been seen around a bit and tried to find out what was going on.. people soon suss if you are really into it or not.. When I came back in the early nineties I soon realised that I had missed a helluva lot, but didn't go around DEMANDING to hear Richard Searlings playlist from 1977.
  18. Surely it depends on the attitude of "the new blood" , if they come to take the p*ss or are not prepared to listen to something that wasn't played before they fell asleep on the night they went, what do you think.?? You gotta give respect to earn respect, we all learned somewhere and (mostly) kept our traps shut while we were doing it.

Jeez, I 've just realised I've been reading it all wrong KTF, thought it was Keep The Faith, however, judging by the amount of Anniversary do's on it now means Kop The Fiver...
  20. you can, of course, only speak for yourself...

Did anybody actually say it, without sounding a complete canute?? only ever saw it written down-Dave Godin of course. "Right On" "Keep the Faith, brother" makes much more sense coming from a Black Panther activist than from the gob of a spotty 17 year old yoof from the backstreets of Salford
  22. Only one problem with that.... These days she wouldn't look out of place
  23. Gave it a 3, At least it was presented by somebody who had an association with the music, could have done with it being a bit longer and talking about what happened since, good trailer for the film I guess. Not a bad effort..
  24. Yep, pitched a fair bit down, after checking the stamps
