2 LP tracks for your consideration "Money" & "Misery Makes Its Home In My Heart" Two crackers that are rarely played out, but then I loves Motown and will probably air them out at Heywood next week. (It's me birthday by the way ) Tony

  4. I trust you'll understand when I say, In the same way as when you're tucking into your Kentucky Fried Pizza you look across to what the guy on the next table is having and say " Fork me, I wish I'd had that". Then you look in your mates record box(es) and say.............. Tony

  7. Not seen the man since the 70's, well known face in Manchester, Sounds, the Douglas,Ducie Bridge back to Sounds then on the train for tthe old Wigwam, Carolines, Black Bird(Gaetano's) was in all these places, always skint!! but never mind who wasn't? Then he'd disappear for a few months. Next time you saw him would be at Rod Shards and Dave Withers place in the underground market or Tony Justs. Gawd knows where he'd been.Coupla months later he'd be gone again, ah well. Another one down, but we'll all meet again. Tony

  10. Without waving the red rag and getting the oldies versus newies going again, just wondering if you'd heard anything lately that struck you as the essence of NORTHERN. You know with same buzz as say,Bob Relf, Frankie Beverley, Van Dykes,Lou Pride,Tomangoes etc etc or have all the truly great tunes already been played??? Cry Havoc. Tony
  11. Really like Roddie Joy's version of Come Back Baby Ketty Lester--River of Salt Supremes--Misery made my heart its home Tony
  12. Being that most of our heroes came from pretty poor backgrounds and found that they had a talent for music that could lift them, did any of them ever make any real money?? Obviously I'm excluding the real rare stuff that sold 1 copy or less. I'm thinking more along the lines of The Dells , Jackie Wilson, Four Tops etc people that had some pretty sizable hits along the way. As its fairly well known that label owners and managers during the 60's and beyond were quite ,err, "shrewd" businessmen. Just curious Tony

I can remember this trend starting around about '75/76 at the good old Casino. Not half as stylish as the towelling tennis wrist bands (50p a pair from your local Hurleys) us young guns from Manchester wore. Tony
