  1. Last time I saw Shaun down the 100 was March 2001. Nice bloke, the Dorian Gray of the Northern scene; looked the same age as he did at the Fleet in the early eighties. Aside, what happened to the 'Enfield shitheads'?
  2. Try tapping up Mick H or Andy Rix. The last one I know sold, went for £2200 in cash
  3. Can't find it at the moment, but isn't it a MFP L.P. of the Isleys with 'My Love Is Your Love' on it?
  4. i found other copies in junk shops etc, I think every copy has spent some time in a junk or charity shop at some time in it's life all pretty knackered ! I think they all are; I wonder if anyone had still got one that they bought brand new from woolies?
  5. Ian Clark, think it was the 100 Club were I heard it

I think I must have had too much sun, agreeing with Pete twice in the same day / decade; Joannie Sommers is one of the finest 'Northern' tunes ever. The discussing of it's genre or authenticity of it, etc, is a futile, vacuus waste of time, 'like putting wheels on a tomato' . Listening to JS is like making love to a beautiful woman, her race shouldn't be an issue (sorry, came over a bit Swiss Tony there)
  9. Pete I've actually had the first problem a couple of times with you in the distant past - we solved it by me stating in emails 'if you've still got xxxxx, charge it to my CC card. I'll ring later to confirm the number' As you had a valid CC numbe, you replied saying that you'd charged it and the record was mine. This worked OK, and it gives the vendor 'written' (if you needed to print out the email) of confirmation of a non face-to-face CC transaction.
  10. You're right Pete, I'm getting them mixed up again; I have a list from the begining of this year with the Invitations @£75 & the Embers @£150!
  11. I always (used to) get mixed up with "watch out girl" The Embers & "watch out little girl" The Invitations because they are similar titles and both on MGM. "Watch out girl" the Embers was always dear, about £20, and out of my price range. At the time I did by The Invitations - "You're like a mystery" for about £3 fot that side and had it years before getting a sales tape of Dave Raistrick with "Watch out little girl"on which brought my atention to the fact that I owned one. Would say now Embers WOG is worth about £75 & Invitations WOLG about £35-40?

  13. Totally Agree, & great for a sing-a-long to after a half or two of shandy.
  14. Not a soul record, but I know some people on here collect/ deal other allied stuff (Mr Thorley?): 3 Times Dope – Funky Dividends – Arista 12” Be about 1988 or 9 Thanks
  15. UK Grapevine # 138, the other side of Lester Tipton - this won't change
  16. Although Columbia had their own pressing plants, maybe they outsourced some of the pressing to other plants, and they pressed vinyl, not styrene? Also, when you consider the size of the country, it might have been much more economically viable to transport a set of pressing plates & / or lacquers, than the pressed up records? Some (e.g. west coast) used styrene, others vinyl. I the A, B, C refer to the press run i.e. C= 3rd time it was pressed, that is the umber of occasions it’s appeared on vinyl, hence you can get one side of a record with A on it, and the other D; quite odd whatever it stands for.
  17. Strange record, never really gets going / goes anywhere. Anyone know why the label is a different design to other HoO releases? Was it his last outing? I know he died of a heart attack in 1984 aged 38.

  19. You’re seriously mistaken Simon, I don’t have one and never have, just pretended to have, to make myself popular on the scene. Don’t have any vinyl, never had.
  20. I don't think I've got any rare records. Just some that now I am selling up that I've sort of promised, but I acctualy a letting them go as a job lot, and wondered if anyone else had had to let their 'mate' down' or been let down by a mate who has sold up.. I've not heard of any of the above, could you put some sound files up of them please.
  21. If I ever sell up…………. Ever been in this situation either on the ‘promised’ side or ‘obligated’ side? 1) “If I ever sell up, the Frank Wilson’s yours, honest you’ve got first refusal, being my best mate” 2) “Sell it to me, being your best mate, and if I ever sell up, you can have first refusal on it, and for what I’m paying you for it now” Is all fair in love & war, & record collecting? Some I’ve been told: “Well that was 15 years ago when it was £100, sorry, I’ve been offered £1000 it now and I need the money”! “Sorry mate, I’ve let it go, didn’t think you would be able to afford it, and didn’t want to embarrass you by turning your offer down”. “Had to let it go as part of a job lot” “Sorry mate, thought you’d already got one, so let it go” Any one had any similar experiences?
