  1. Having just purchased (& watched) the DVD of Standing In The Shadows Of Motown. I have come to realise that two topics which we have discussed in the past are complete b*ll*cks! The two topics being are as follows: can instrumentals be soul and also whether the artist is of the right persuasion!?! Anyway what an excellent film, why didn't I buy it sooner?! :fool:
  2. Stuart, what about people who request you play Billy Butlers - Right Track?
  3. Miff, I'm similar to you in only been buying records again for the past year or so. I buy originals at between £5 & £25, the last CD I got was free on entry to Saracens back in March. I can tell you now the vast majority on this site will choose records everytime. One last thing, isn't it about time we all moved on from the CD's v Vinyl & Originals or Not, threads, please.
  4. I am making my opinion on hearing this (Pyramid - Soul Bros Inc) over the net, admittedly it may sound better out loud over a quality sound system. I still think it's not that special, but each to their own I suppose. I admit I may have been wrong in bringing the price into play, for that I apologise. However, I don't apologise for not liking it that much! Wouldn't it be more interesting if we were all As for an alternative slow tune, I prefer LV Johnson - Recipe.
  5. I can't see what all the fuss is about, I don't think it's all that. I wouldn't pay £50 for it, let alone £350.
  6. Seller: Collection of 100+ Soul records Means: Old Computer Monitor, Slippers & Dressing Gown!
  7. When I said the above, I meant value! I think eating all them Pork Pies, must of affected your hearing Mr. Dog!
  8. I believe the lads at Sheridans are having an Allnighter, where all records played are valued at under £50 (but for how long?). I think it's planned for Saturday 9th July 2005. >> Click Here For More Info <<

    And Very Big Turn Ups!
  10. Just had a listen on Soul Club, a nice tune. I actually played 'Recovery' the other day and that sounded better than I seemed to remember! Why did I, for so long assume that everything she'd done would sound like Rescue Me ??? It never seems to amaze me that some artists lesser known stuff, is better than their biggest hits IMO. Anyway, Lucky In Love, yet another record to add to the wants list (does it ever end?!).
  11. Got the house to myself for an hour or so, son's at nursery and the wifes at work. So I can play my records without anyone whinging about they'd rather watch telly! The Steelers - Get It From The Bottom - Date Shirley Brown - I Don't Play That - Soundtown (back of box for years, car boot purchase) Shirley Brown - Looking For The Real Thing - Soundtown Little Charles - Guess I'll Have To Take What's Left - Jewell The Chi-Lites - What Do I Wish For - Brunswick Jackie Lee - Let Your Conscience Be Your Guide - Mirwood Tommy Hunt - The Biggest Man - Columbia (Canadian) Linda Carr - Baby, Are You Puttin' Me On - DCP Carol & Geri - On You Heartaches Look Good - MGM (Blue Vinyl - Bootleg) The Intruders - Pray For Me - Gamble (back of box for years, car boot purchase) JJ Barnes - Baby, Please Come Back Home - Groovesville Nella Dodds - Finders Keepers, Loosers Weepers - Wand Chuck Jackson - Are You Lonely For Me - Motown Majestic - Send My Baby Back To Me - Equator Don Hart & James Shorter - All The Love I Got - La Beat Mask Man & The Agents - I Wouldn't Come Back - Loop Fontella Bass - I Can't Rest - Checker Debra Johnson - To Get Love You've Got To Bring Love - Kent 6T's  My Living Room - The only place where you can hear such a disjointed set! Something a bit odd going on? Definately same picture & info, I would say it's either of the following. 1. Someone happens to have an original (& seen how much it's gone for) and rather than scan it have just copied all the info. 2. Someone is hoping to make a lot of money out of someone for something that's going to get lost in the post.

  20. I can't believe that anybody would do such a thing! As for it being 15 years, I would've thought it was nearer 20+ years.

I'm a little surprised (disappointed?), that not more of you have responded to this thread? Perhaps, I should have started a thread about the playing of CD's (might have got a better reaction)!!
