  1. Just 2 for today, a couple of special ones though, offered up as usual due to sourcing a higher priority want. Graded conservatively, and I will be dismayed if they don’t sell for their condition alone. I have provided scans and sound files for these. Any questions or to reserve please PM. CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION Chandlers – Your love makes me lonely – Col-Soul 1152 M- £600 (Needs no introduction, simply CLASS. When I picked this up in Dec off Mr Dennison I thought it was the keeper, but the appearance of a completely unexpected long term want leads to a quick exit under my last in first out rule. I’ve had a couple, and would expect to land one again, but not in such lovely condition, it’s pristine label and vinyl, only a feint edge lift that does not affect play in any way. Defines clean as a whistle) Chandlers - Your love makes me lonely.mp3 Little Eddie Taylor – I had a good time – Peacock 1949 DJ M- £650 (Might I remind you this is a top quality Northern R&B dancer built on an effortless yet smouldering vocal with petite girly backing. Another difficult 45 to find, normally comes beaten up too. Whilst there is some mild wear on the top label and “DJ Not for Sale” has been blacked out, the vinyl is immaculate and plays near mint, can’t be many like that?) Little Eddie Taylor - I had a good time.mp3 PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £8.25 - Special Delivery up to 1000 Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  2. Completely missed this, absolutely shocked to hear Steve has gone. I thought his recent sales where to pay for an all time biggie, it appears he may have had another motive. An acquaintance for over 20 years of buying and selling between one another, in the early days when everyone picked up a phone rather than PM to crack a deal he was an absolute joy to talk to, knowledgeable, honest and funny, what a loss this is. Thinking of Steve's family, God bless you. Lee
  3. Here’s a mix of nice affordables to warm up a winters day, As ever, sound files available on request, PM to ask any questions or reserve. Exceptionals – Unlucky Girl – GRT 48 WD M- £30 (Glorious crossover) Sugar N’ Spice – Lucky we – Lira 777 M- £125 SOLD (Obscure Ohio dancer) Johnny Dynamite – The night the angels cried – Minaret 141 WD M- £125 HOLD (Vinyl format ORIGINAL, gorgeous) Dorothy Prince – Seek and you’ll find – M-Pac! 2098 DJ M- £25 (Classy vocals setting the standard for this superb label) Jimmy Helms - That’s the way it is – Oracle 1003 M- £30 SOLD (Upbeat 60’s dancer) Jimmy Helms – That’s the way it is – Oracle 1003 WD Ex £40 SOLD (Couple of light marks on an otherwise sparkling harder DEMO) Naturals – Don’t just stand there – Path 5563 M- £300 (May not be well known, this Rare philly dancer seems to be quite obscure, Xol)Naturals – Don’t just stand there – Path 5563 M- £250 SOLD (Philly dancer appears in JM’s rarest of the rare, Xol) Celestrals – Chain reaction / Keep your hands off my baby – RCA 9016 WD M- £30 HOLD (Minor ring wear on “Chain” label, super double sider) Darrell Banks – Somebody (somewhere) needs you – Revilot 203 WD M- £125 HOLD (A must have demo on this label) Show Stoppers – Ain’t nothin’ but a house party / What can a man do – Show Time 101 WD M- £15 HOLD (Minor ring wear on both labels, vinyl great) Richard Brown – Sweet and kind – Steeltown 686 M- £40 (Pure class) Chris Clark - Love's gone bad - VIP 25038 Promo M- £60 (Stunning coloured WEST COAST PROMO, Motown labels invariably rarer on the west coast variant) PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £1.25 - 1st Class regular £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  4. Here’s a handful to get my new year rolling. Thought long and hard about what I might need to let go to keep the wheel churning, so here goes... As ever, sound files available on request, PM to ask any questions or reserve. Grey Imprint – Do you get the message – Clear Hill 102 M- £2000 SOLD (Monster Northern with a funk edge built on great lyrics. Purchased in Nov 16 from a top UK DJ, only to pull a bigger want in the same week, one or the other has to go? so here it is. Looks and plays like a dream with the mildest edge lift on rotation, DNAP. Not messing with offers, what I paid is what I set the sale for) Rotations – (Put a dime) on D-9 – Frantic 200 Vg++ £700 dh HOLD (Fabulous Philly dancer, graded to accommodate a scuff on the vinyl, which plays through with 2-3 light pops in the early part of track. With this in mind I have graded conservatively. I saw a Vg++ copy from Germany went through Ebay last week at £1,070 and reading his description I would guess this is about the same condition) Majestics – (I love her so much) it hurts me – Linda 121 Ex £450 HOLD (Latin edged dancer, full of spectacular horns and high adrenaline vocals. Yellow demos priced all over at £400-500, this is the PLUM stock copy and much harder to source) Naturals – Don’t just stand there – Path 5563 M- £300 (May not be well known as this Rare Philly dancer seems to be quite obscure, Xol) Little Eddie Taylor – I had a good time – Peacock 1949 DJ M- £650 (Effortless Northern meets slick R&B, made even better by the fact he was a guitarist. Hard to find in top end condition and only notable blemishes are light wear on the label and “DJ not for Sale” blanked out by marker) Billie Kennedy – Sweet things – Thelma 109 WD M- £400 HOLD (The rarest format, a white demo with Billie printed, not Billy, that said the “IE” has been written over by a penned “Y” and there are 2 A’s on top label. “Groovy generation” on the flip of this household Detroit release of course. Condition, condition, condition) PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £7.25 - Special Delivery up to 500 £8.25 - Special Delivery up to 1000 Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  5. I was just checking in to see what other gems had sold today and see his whole inventory is down!
  6. I see another De-Lites sold, but hey good news the tiger baubles have gone too! Lot of 6 Matching Orange and Black Tiger striped Christmas Tree Ornaments $29.99 Buy It Now
  7. I was gonna draw attention to it as well, a copy of De-Lites - Cuppy listed and another SOLD, how many copies of that just lying around! Its a tell tale sign using a scan from popsike of previous sales. I contacted the seller and asked him to post actual photos, to be fair he replied straight away, His post said PLEASE LOOK AT THE PHOTO'S FOR A BETTER AND MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION! I said - How can that be done if the pictures aren't that of the actual item? Same for the Sam Williams and Willie Hutch (which is also sold along with Pepp). He told me he would do that after he went to the house at the lake to collect the 45's................................ if you ask me CAUTION KEEP CLEAR
  8. Have a pre-Christmas nibble from this platter of tasty Soul As ever, sound files available on request, PM to ask any questions or reserve. Kissi Jacobs – Let it be him – Blackjack 1404 M- £50 ON HOLD (Lilting mid-tempo vocals on this prestigious Philly label, an uplifting tune, which is referenced in my great “There’s that beat!” guide to The Philly Sound, both highly recommended) Johnny Dynamite – The night the angels cried – Minaret 141 WD M- £150 (One of my first encounters with Northern on a compilation tape, this oldie has remained hard to find in ORIGINAL vinyl format, gorgeous) Celestrals – Chain reaction / Keep your hands off my baby – RCA 9016 WD M- £40 (2 great sides, upbeat dancers, minor ring wear on “Chain” label) Richard Marks - Love is gone / Don't take it out on me - Shout 249 Promo M- £275 SOLD (2 fabulous crossover sides, both distinct in their own way, what appears to be the popular side “Love is gone” reminds me of Matt Brown’s - Sweet thing - JarVal, but my 60’s taste leans toward the excellent “Don’t take it out on me”) Cleveland Martin & Soul Sets - I don't want to slip away - Single B 120 M- £140 SOLD (Giving up my keep box copy of this superb mid-tempo Odell Bailey and Dave Hamilton produced crossover dancer, rarely seen for sale) Chris Clark - Love's gone bad - VIP 25038 Promo M- £75 (Ms Clark absolutely bosses this fantastic dancer. Stunning coloured WEST COAST PROMO, I literally had to toss a coin to decide whether this or my white promo that went, fantastic condition) PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  9. Sold a copy 7-8 years ago haven't seen another since...............!
  10. Hi Andy, With so much crap going on in the world I like to help where I can, as it's not a charity and there is no need to donate cash or blood..... 11. Strange choice that the title of the Blue Rock release is "Tea House" yet the 2 presses either side, this acetate and Mercury release use the full title. Didn't think the Blue Rock recording was noisy either, sounded great to me. Tea House.mp3
  12. Seven little tricksters up for grabs! As ever, sound files available on request. PM to ask any questions or reserve. VINYL - CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION Shirley Ellis – Soul time – Columbia 44021 WD M- £80 SOLD (Hard red print demo of this classic anthem, driving 2-4-6-8...22 beat, fantastic condition vinyl, just 2 spots of minor wear on label) Hesitations – Is this the way to treat a girl – GWP 504 M- £80 SOLD (High calibre crossover straight outta Lushville, feintest ring wear) Johnny Dynamite – The night the angels cried – Minaret 141 WD M- £150 (One of my first encounters with Northern on a compilation tape, this oldie has remained hard to find in original vinyl format, gorgeous) Ikettes – What’cha gonna do – Phi-Dan 5009 Promo M- £75 SOLD (Nothing Spectorish about this catchy femme group dancer, perfect dance floor filler) Don Ray – Born a loser – RCA 9438 M- £325 SOLD (Plenty of interest last week in my Michael & Raymond stocker and pound for pound this is just as hard to come by, but wait, it’s an absolutely spotless copy, even harder in this condition, it’s bound to be missing from many RCA stock collections) Sammy Ward – Bread winner – Soul 35004 WD M- £60 SOLD (Stunning bluesy vocals on this early Motown stable release, beautiful WEST COAST release, not the regular Soul logo output) J.J. Barnes – Got to get rid of you / Snow flakes – Volt 4027 WD M- £75 SOLD (2 stunning crossover sides from this Detroit stalwart) PayPal as friends or add 4% please, bank transfer on request Postage: £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  13. Spot on, was only gonna tell the buyer, but you're right its a smashing flip.
  14. A very big want has just come up for me, so I am letting some of my more recent buys go because I’m not emotionally attached yet and a couple that I’d earmarked for sales anyway. As ever, sound files available on request. PM to ask any questions or reserve. Jades – Hotter than fire – Cherry Red 144 M- £250 SOLD Much rarer than thought, pristine player. Fiestas – Think smart – Old Town 1178 WD M- £325 SOLD Fabulous copy of this group soul classic. Michael & Raymond – Man without a woman – RCA 9244 M- £350 SOLD Rare BLACK stock copy, more Pied Piper brilliance, a must for any stock collection. Ray Pollard – The Drifter – United Artists 916 M- £400 SOLD Picked up only 2 days ago, nowt wrong at all, just found myself needing to raise cash for a serious want, so last in first out! 15. Big want has just come up for me so sadly this beaut goes up for offers. Very rare monster oldie in its' rarest format - RED STOCK, this New Orleans masterpiece is in fabulous condition. Just a nearly invisible X on label. Willie Tee - Please don't go - Nola 737 M- I will let it run until Monday 28 Nov 16, ending at 8pm, unless of course I get an offer I can't refuse. Minimum £600. SOLD Sound file on request. Happy to accept paypal by friends or add 4% please, or I can send details for bank transfer? Postage: £7.25 for Special Delivery Overseas on request. Cheers, Lee
  16. Apologies I forgot to add to Soul Source earlier................ Up for Offers and closing tonight (Sunday 20 November at 8pm), but it’s fair to say I may accept an offer I can’t refuse in between! Please message any questions or offers, Fully insured next day delivery included, always well wrapped and labelled, PayPal by gift or add 4% please, bank transfer on request. Cheers, Lee Rita Doryse – Wait till then – Ru-Jac 1016 M- Min Offer £500 – Current Top is £550 (Rufus Mitchell’s vast Baltimore label was propped up by the likes of Winfield Parker, Gene & Eddie and Fred Martin’s Review, but filled in with some seriously hard to find releases, the Caressors, Sir Joe and the obscure Mask Man & the Cap-Tans, so why not after such a long-standing existence wouldn’t a label like this still throw up relatively unknown tracks to be championed. This is a 45 I have heard talked about for many years, but no one in the conversation ever owned a copy. Small edge fault, no effect on run in, light ring wear) Wait til then.mp3
  17. As ever I’m happy to send sound file. Please message any questions or to reserve. Fully insured next day delivery included, always well wrapped and labelled. PayPal by gift or add 4% please, bank transfer on request. Cheers, Lee Enjoyables – Shame – Shrine 118 M- £1250 (Gazing into any sky blue Shrine label with its epitaph to JFK is just a part of the hypnotic sensation that I associate with this short lived but enigmatic Thomas Circle set up. The job that Eddie and Miss Ray, Warren, Kidd and Bass amongst others did to create this magical collective of talent and musical output is inspiring, and against a backdrop of political, social and business pressure - remarkable. I gave up my pristine Les Chansonettes and first Cautions years ago, stupidly overlooked Eddie Daye several times, missed out on Shirley Edwards and DC Blossoms for a few dollars when the pound was strong. Might be letting this go, but still in that trance!)
  18. Just the one tonight Sound file on request Message to reserve or ask any questions Jay Traynor - Up and over - ABC 10845 WD Vg+ £300 (Talented vocalist with a trio of group's, but this 1966 solo recording is probably his most sought after Northern outing, Wigan was built for this type of oldie, clean lyrics, angelic girly backing and a horn laced arrangement that floats along on up and down emotions. Bell Sound stamped vinyl original, slightly grubby labels, and despite a bit of crackle on the intro it plays loud and clear) PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  19. Selling for a mate, more reductions, he wants to sell..... As ever, sound files available on request. PM to ask any questions or reserve. Jannie Williams - I'll be true - Golden Eagle 103 Ex+ £150 now £120 (Sultry sister R&B coaxed along by the pen of Johnny Copeland and only pierced by a superb sax break, recent John Manship auction item) Ronnie Walker - You're the one - Philips 40501 Ex £25 (Sticker residue on label) Ben Atkins & Nomads - Come on over - Youngstown 1001 Ex £80 now £60 (Sticker on label may not be great on the eye but it plays great, bargain, still seen about at 100+) P ayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £1.25 - Regular 1st Class £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  20. Nice touch Andy, another sad loss
  21. I wouldn't knock any track mentioned before, what an awesome outlet - Motown has gotta be the purest form of 60's soul in the world, don't think I saw listed so here's some from me; Chris Clark - Love's gone bad (So sassy) Spinners - Sweet thing Spinners - What more can a boy ask for Spinners - She's gonna love me at sundown Marvelettes - Destination anywhere Marvin & Tammi - California Soul (one for the camper on any road on a summers day) Edwin Starr - 25 Kilometers (Another stupid EU rule!) Marv Johnson - I miss you baby how I miss you Four Tops - Wonderful baby (Put onto this by one of the early Wigan DJ's, not sure how long lived his career was but he knows his stuff, Cheers - Alan Rhodes) And one that may not fill a dancefloor but when you want a breather, the purity of the vocal and lyrics on this is quite outstanding..... melancholy moments..... Eivets Rednow - Hey love I could go on, the catalogue of released and unreleased is endless
  22. Before I replenish the sales box here's some stragglers, As ever, sound files or missing label scans available on request. PM to ask any questions or reserve. Jannie Williams - I'll be true - Golden Eagle 103 Ex+ £150 (Sultry sister R&B coaxed along by the pen of Johnny Copeland and only pierced by a superb sax break) Dorothy Prince - Seek and you'll find - M-Pac! 7206 DJ M- £30 (Prime condition and a release that epitomises the labels output) Ronnie Walker - You're the one - Philips 40501 Ex £25 HOLD (Sticker residue on label) Jimmy Jones - Walkin' - Roulette 4608 M- £20 (Stonking condition) Ben Atkins & Nomads - Come on over - Youngstown 1001 Ex £80 (Sticker on label may not be great on the eye but it plays great) 3 Obscurer 45's Downbeats - Trying to get through - Kanwic 137 Ex £50 (May lack a bit of soulful edge but the hard driving beat and excellent vocal lead may swing some dance floor action) New Testament - Can't stand much more - Fun City 305 M- £25 (Top side has an R&B edge) Four Dimensions - You gotta have soul - Ramco 1980 DJ M- £40 (Not your normal source of group Soul, Arizona! Date on label) PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £1.25 - Regular 1st Class £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers,
  23. Some class acts here, and a couple reduced to the best I can do! Sound files of the actual 45's included. PM to ask any questions or reserve. Dee-Dee Sharp - Deep dark secret - Cameo 335 Ex+ £85 SOLD (Powerhouse dancer that’ll leave you gasping for breath, full of brass and sass. Vinyl plays M-, vinyl has a couple of pressing dimples that don’t affect play at all) Deep dark secret.mp3 Pretenders - I call it love / It's everything about you - Carnival 560 M- £200 SOLD (Doesn't get any better, 2 sublime crossover dancers on the same disc, class written all over it. I've seen more Joann Courcys' for sale this year than this elusive Carnival number. The tiny run in on "Everything" has a light pop before the intro, nothing to worry about easily lined up, just need to mention it) I call it love.mp3 Its everything about you.mp3 Joe Tex - Old time lover - Dial 3020 Promo Ex+ £75 SOLD (One of those big production oldies that should be in every box, superb vocals on classy arrangement, harder on the Demo) Old time lover.mp3 Exceptionals - Unlucky girl - GRT48 WD M- £40 (Exceptional mid-tempo crossover and in near mint condition as well, this cultured slab of cool soul comes in its rarest format on a Canadian demo) Unlucky girl.mp3 Neil Reed - Not as beautiful as you / Gonna find a way - Music Now 2879 M- £225 HOLD (Previous copies I had flew out, and a queue formed, understandable as this Detroit double sider with seriously unique vocals has been elevated to the point of it being a trophy piece amongst aspiring DJ's) Not as beautiful as you.mp3 Jimmy Helms - That's the way it is - Oracle 1003 M- £30 (Cracking up-tempo 60's style dancer, been a dark horse on several respected DJ's playlists. DJ stamp on label) Thats the way it is.mp3 PayPal as friends or add 4% please Postage: £2.50 - 1st Class Signed For £7.25 - Special Delivery Overseas on Request Cheers, Lee
  24. Continuing to clear down the sales boxes, so here's a combination of what's left from 5 listings on another site. I sold well over 30 45's from a larger stack this last week. It goes to show the cheapies can still command some interest. All cheaper end originals that are most likely valued above the asking price, but I don't have time to find the perfect price for me so here they are at £5 each.
