Burdett Records - Label Address?
Just had a look at Manship's site because he often puts the city/town of origin if known. It says New York right enough. Definite Detroit connections on that S.S.I disc though with Joe Hunter writing, arranging and conducting, and Brohun Music co-publishing (Fred Brown and Joe Hunter). Cheers Richard

Burdett Records - Label Address?
Hi Chalky - thanks for the link. The label mentioned there is Burdette with an 'e'. The Bernie Moore label is Burdett. Plus I can't see any links with the names/credits on Bernie Moore. The producer of the Bernie Moore 45 is Joe Davis - does this narrow it down? Cheers Richard

Burdett Records - Label Address?
Hi all Anyone know where the Burdett label was from please? I have always assumed Chicago, or maybe Cleveland Bernie Moore had at least a couple of releases on the Burdett label including the awesome "I Wanna Be Loved To Death". Presumably this is the same Bernie Moore as recorded on Lark and S.S.I? Both seem to be Detroit or Detroit-connected (Lark = Sound Inc. published and/or distributed; S.S.I. = Joe Hunter song writer and Brohun Music Publishing). Anyone shed any light please? Cheers Richard

Value Please-Mighty Lovers On Soul Hawk?
Is it in demand on the UK Northern Scene? Or is the demand driven by scenes in other countries? Who is featuring this in their DJ sets? That's what normally drives demand. Cheers Richard

Jackey Beavers I Need My Revilot
Hi Chalky Well I was thinking it's possibly going to be on a related label - and sure enough ZTSC 126202/126203 Benny Poole - Pearl Baby Pearl/Sorry 'Bout That (Solid Hit) came right before "Love That never Grows Old" (ZTSC 126204). Will see if I can find any others. Cheers Richard

Rose Batiste, I Miss My Baby
I've never been totally convinced by this story Bri. I know there was more than one version of "Hit And Run" but to my ears the version that came out on the Goldmine CD (Totally Solid Hitbound was it?) credited to the Debonaires was not the same cut as the one released on Revilot credited to Rose Batiste. Yes, the cuts sound very similar, bit they are not the same - at least to my ears Cheers Richard

Debonaires

Jackey Beavers - Bring Me All Your Heartaches (Grand Land 19000A) I rate this as one of my all time favourites. Jackie Beavers - Bring Me All Your Heartaches - Grand Land Cheers Richard

Jackey Beavers I Need My Revilot
For me Jackey's best two records are: 1. Love That Never Grows Old (Revilot) 2. Bring Me All Your Heartaches (Grandland) Cheers Richard

Jackey Beavers I Need My Revilot
Think that's right Bri if by 'recorded' you mean mastered When it's not clear which is the A and B side though, as is often the case because it doesn't specify this on a disc, I think we just naturally use the matrix/master as the default - taking the lowest number as the topside. Cheers Richard

Have most often seen this offered at £600 over the last year. Seems to be plenty of copies changing hands though. Cheers Richard

Jackey Beavers I Need My Revilot
I have a few of the multi-coloured Revilot promos including the Parliaments - "Don't Be Sore At Me". The Holidays DJ on #205 has "DJ COPY" and "NOT FOR SALE" on both sides ... but no mention of "PLUG SIDE". The Ronnie Taylor DJ on #212 only has "PLUG SIDE" printed on the "Without Love" side - that's all - and the flip is plain just like the issue. There are some sticker demos of course. Never seen or heard of a DJ copy of Jackey Beavers. If it does exist I think it is most likely to be a sticker demo. I'm sure someone said years ago that they knew someone who once had a grey labelled Jackey Beavers - pre-scanner days etc. Think it might have been Dave Flynn (Dave can you confirm please?). Would like to see that one as it otherwise doesn't make much sense because the last grey label was #204 and Jackey Beavers came out on #208. Cheers Richard

Roy Handy - Baby That's A Groove (Stephanye)

I have the Prophets on a demo Tony - looks lovely! Here's a scan - not my copy though Cheers Richard

Roy Handy - Baby That's A Groove (Stephanye)
Hi Tony Which one is recorded off centre please - the counterfeit vinyl version? Cheers Richard

Roy Handy - Baby That's A Groove (Stephanye)
Hi all Following on from my query about the Capreez on Sound I though I'd ask about another classic disc. How is this one rated on today's Northern Scene then? Most collectable on the WDJ I guess. But does it ever get played out? And does Roy really say he picked up some "Fish & Chips" at the beginning? Not very USA that - more Skeggy Roy Handy - Baby That's A Groove - Stephanye Cheers Richard

Sandra Richardson - Stay Here With Me
I have the green issue and the orange/black one I can check if it helps but I think both of mine are quiet recording levels to be honest Not sure it's as bad as it might otherwise appear though because the instrumentation at the start of the track is naturally quite quiet and just builds slowly - so it contrasts sharply with stomping 60s stuff. Just need to turn the volume up to 11 Cheers Richard
