Billy Prophet - What Can I Do?
Happy to look out my boot and check - but I'm sure the one I have is not white, but a very pale light blue(ish) colour - like the one in the original pic. Cheers Richard

Billy Prophet - What Can I Do?
I have one of these somewhere and always considered it a boot. Manships' old "Guide to Bootlegs..." has this one in, I'm pretty sure (I'm away from home just now so can't check for you myself I'm afraid). I guess the new hot-off-the-presses Price Guide will also have it in. Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

I don't like it either! Good price though and I know most people just love this record. Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

Dee & Joe - Who Is It Gonna Be
Cheers for the background John - very amusing! Interestingly, the Big Six release also appears in the Brown & Koppel guide with exactly the same details! I'm pretty sure it is credited as a Bix Six release on that Maple Street Detroit Dynamite CD too, rather than a Jubilee release. Your ploy obviously worked a treat! Nice one. Tonight's Manship Auction Results - 29 Oct
A fair price on the Masqueraders I reckon. It wouldn't have surprised me if it had gone higher than the £793 it finally sold for. The promo copy of the Fabulous Apollos is also seriously hard to pick up (again not bad at £373). When I got a chance at that one in decent condition I snapped it up . Now that one really is a double-sider! - although I must confess that I prefer Andre Williams on Ric-Tic out of the various vocal and instrumentals using the backing tune Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

This Made Me Smile
Just got a message from en Ebay seller which made me smile, so I thought I would share it: Jumpin' guacamole! You have persevered the raging battle 'o electrons and emerged as the victor in this most recent Ebay contest. That means you have earned the right to have a select item, a veritable collector's heirloom wing its way to your side to take its rightful place in the pantheon of cool and groovy things that festoon your humble abode. But first! We must arrange some mutually acceptable barter, some trade of common currency to grease the wheels of commerce. So, to that end, I bid you send me your Dollars, your money orders, your cashier's checks, chits, wonga, filthy lucre, spondulas, slummers, mazoolas, kale, tcush, o-day, cartwheels, long green, dead presidents, clams, f-olding money or cabbage. Inscribe and send the remuneration to ... Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

Ric-tic?
Hi Mick Yes, Edwin Starr's first releases were on the Detroit-based Ric-Tic label in the USA. As mentioned above, Motown bought out Ric-Tic and associated labels such as Golden World. Ric-Tic in particular was strong competition for Motown, and many of the Ric-Tic recordings actually used the same highly talented Detroit session musicians as Motown. All of Edwin's original Ric-Tic 45s are worth picking up and include some real soul classics. Some can be found for just a few pounds. Others are rarer and more expensive - notably Scott's On Swingers [a version of Stop Her On Sight] and You're My Mellow. Edwin's later work on Motown is also significant in it's own right - tracks such as 25 Miles and My Weakness Is You. Tracks which originally came out in the USA on Ric-Tic, such as Agent OO-Soul and Headline News, were also released later by Motown on the Tamla-Motown label in the UK. In the USA, "Motown" was actually a family of labels including Motown itself, Tamla, VIP, Gordy etc. Hope this helps. Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

Record Sleeves For 45s
Thanks everyone - some great tips Now I have to decide what to buy I can't decide which option would be best: paper inner sleeve inside a tougher outer card sleeve paper inner sleeve inside a Polyethylene outer sleeve paper inner sleeve inside an outer archival polyester (Mylar) sleeve (from Bags Unlimited) It's going to cost a bit to do the whole lot, so I want to get it right. Thoughts/advice anyone please? Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

Dee & Flo & Dee-ettes - "this Or That"
Is anyone able to tell me anything about this one please? I know Tim Brown featured it in Rare Soul Review issue 3. This Or That uses the backing track to Dee & Joe's Who Is It Gonna Be. The flip is a version of Al Green's Let's Stay Together. It's a strange one. I will scan and post up the other side if anyone is interested. Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com

Values Please
I would reckon about 40 quid for the red issue and a bit more for the pink promo on the Chalfontes. Cheers Richard premium_stuff@hotmail.com
