Big Boots
I have a one-sided white label 12" of Jackie Ross - Trust in me. Can't remember when or where I picked it up, but presume to be a boot. As its only a 2/3 minute song the record groove starts half way through. Why a 45 wasn't made I don't know?

Fluctuating Record Prices
Phew that's crazy. I wonder if the Sharon Jones version will ever reach those dizzy heights! Must say I like the Jerry Lee Lewis version best

The Wire On Bbc 2 ( Nightly )
It's a Tom Waits song from his Franks Wild Years album. I thought this series version was the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, but previous post suggests different. Great song Mike

John Manship Auction- Finishing Prices 11 March
Glad to hear it went for a good price as I recommended that it be sold through Manships auction. Two copies came from the estate of Eugene Davis, and the money will be winging its way back to his family. The other copy was given to somebody else to sell and I believe didn't unfortunately reach half of that.

Joe Bataan / Naatab - I'm Satisfied - Fania / Uptite
Subway Joe did appear on 45 (Fania 455) Young, Gifted & Brown is another cracker by him on Uptite (0021), with the added bonus of Unwed Mother (a nice lopping crossover type track) on the other side, rather than Salsa things that sometimes appear

Buddy Wilkins - Private Eye Always thought 'Harlem Rumble' has a police/sountrack feel to it? One of my faves of that ilk is an instrumental by Les Baxter - Boomada (from Teen Drums LP), & makes a great text ringtone. It appeared on one of those wavy gravy type comps called Swing for a Crime & I seem to remember appeared in the film Wild at Heart- Motown Night On Bbc4 Tonight Now Now Now
Yeah the first show was a bit pants apart from a couple of clips, but the 1st British tour doc was much better. Why they didn't show the Ready Steady Go episode instead?- Motown Night On Bbc4 Tonight Now Now Now
8 - 9 Motown at BBC 9 - 10 1st Motown UK tour, then 10 - 11.45 Standing in the Shadows film- Eddies All Sorts

Eddie How goes? Is this the one you mentioned to me a while back? Do you have a sound clip or might call you for a listen over weekend, ok? Mike- Radio Active Gold
Cheers, looks like a label nobody is particularly interested in! It's the songs only on 45 on this lable that started to intrigue me. Mike- Radio Active Gold
Just wondered if anyone knows much about the 'Radio Active Gold' label or a discography of releases. I have 3 Honey Cone & an Impressions (Inner City Blues) 45 on the label. I presume it was maybe a reissue arm of Buddah Records, however, some of the releases I know of were not released on 45 elsewhere (i.e The Impressions - Inner City Blues) or paired with different songs to the original. Just looked on ebay and found 3 other releases 5 Stairsteps - Ooh Child/Dear Prudence (RD-124) The politicians - Love Machine (RD-123) Steve Goodman - City of New Orleans (RD-66) It looks fairly prolific from the catalogue numbers, albeit, nothing rare from releases I know of. How do releases value if only released on 45 on this label? Any info appreciated Mike- Some Motown Pics On Guardian Website
31 pics, but they do get dodgy towards the end Copy & paste the below into your browser https://www.guardian.co.uk/music/gallery/20...cture=341061093- Richard Morehead On Aura/.soundfile On Jm.available
Ezzie I could only locate this soundfile - Richard Moorhead - Dont Try to use me - Aura - in refosoul. Is that it? Mike- What Is The Average Age Of Northern Fans
36. Got into it via 2-tone & mod when at school, however, when friends drifted away got lost & didn't know where to get tunes. Mt wilderness years!! When I became a mature student at 27 & ceased working in London I returned to a little local record shop (Carmel's in Southend), met some people who turned me onto stuff and began learning wuth a bad vinyl habit to boot, continuing to this day.- Africa L.p
'Widow' on the LP is a pretty good folk-funk type track. Is that the one you put on the comp John?- Some 45s In Lesser Condition

Adey Pearce used to sell the Ricky Allen's. Probably all gone now, but worth a try. My first copy came from him off ebay (£30ish) - sold it, then luckily got it back recently off a guy who's copy was also sourced via Adey. Good luck Mike- Duke Records
