Sold a copy for around £25 about a year ago. Wasn't too keen on it myself, and as usual saw it on a list for a ridiculous amount a few weeks later. Probably the same one mentioned above, Moerer's list I think. So still not sold May be hard but with good reason imho Bought it any a job lot off a Chicago collector. Keeping to the rap theme, another was Spoilers rap by The Spoilers on Lock, which was far better. Funky soul, which grew on me Mike

A selection of Cleveland Robinson 45's for sale All on NOSNIBOR RECORDS & at least EX condition (any major flaws noted in comments). Although some of the songs released were the same they are generally different arrangements, dependant on the arranger (Bert DeCoteaux or Gene Page mainly, when mentioned on label). UK P&P £1.50 Tracks / Cat. No. / Comments / Price LOVE IS A TRAP / A LOAF OF BREAD (1002) Fantastic & a reeeal nice copy. Plum colour label £800 WOMAN IN MOTION / MY PLACE IN THE WORLD (1003) £12 WORK SONG / A MAN GETS TIRED (1004) SOLD Noticed getting plays & stomping version. 'Youre the song I've always wanted to sing', or kill in my case, by Timmy Thomas. I'm sure my cat wailing vocal could destroy that one in an ironic way. Was once tempted by The Snake on a karaoke machine, but sobered up enough in time to do a runner before my name came up
-
Thirded, picked it up a few months ago from Mr Dyson, everyone played it too loves it. Reminds me of 'freddie Houston - If I had known' a little in feel. It's that good in my opinion. Mike

I knew you would not be able to resist getting Dick!!! You must be workin' from home today, ha ha Mike

Somebody, I think called eddie ?? left a message on Phil's mobile wanting this, but phil's deleted the number. If you can pm me or call 07952038834 can sort cheers Mike
-
Agree with Jamie about tempo, but there is something intriguing about it & most people have played too like it. My favourite version is by Jerry Lee Lewis on an LP I would say is late 60's & him covering Soul tunes (treat her right, Shotgun wedding). It is quite R&b'ish & if I can work out later will put up soundfile Mike

1011 (pink label)as far as I can tell is essentially the same as 106 (blue label), but with added harmonica. I don't have 106, but presume as so similar, is also arranged by Bert DeCoteaux. The other is 1012 (green label) arranged by Gene Page, which is a more 70's style, bits of wah wah & the like. Also has another version of 'Somebody to love' on other side, which is growing on me. May have it's day. My fave is 106,more punchy, obviously being the most expensive & the one I don't have. I seem to remember there being a Cleveland Robinson site, run by his son. Which always advertised a forthcoming CD that never materialised. But also remember reading somewhere of somebody being ripped off by the site. Don't know if still on net, but some nice info. Anybody have/seen the LP? - Is it any good Mike

Have recently picked up an LP by Bobby Jones on Toya records (logo is like a Chinese dragon) cat. no.T-LP2000, which has the title track, plus the following Lonely Man I got a habit Please bless our home Check me out Welcome bak a foolish man Goin' into my act I am so lonely (in my apartment) No Messin' around Lovin' hard, livin' good One bird You gotta have love (in your heart) So tracks from Expo, Kack & possibly other labels The front cover is a collage of newspaper type clippings, lot'sa people sitting & ambling around & drawn faces, which gives the impression of a more recent LP. But the reverse looks more sixties. Cover or label gives no indication of year or where pressed so just wondered if anyone had any info, is it a later issue than the recordings (70's possibly or even more recent)? Nice way to get some of his best stuff though. The guy it was from recently bought a large collection of mainly LP's, which had alot of rare Prog stuff, but also a few Soul bits (inc. Jean Wells - World! here comes...(Sonet) & Bobby Bland - A piece of gold (action), also purchased), all in virtually pristine condition, which has prompted the question & get people talkin' 'bout Jones! Grateful for any info if known Cheers Mike
