Are these two tracks the same song, or is it just the opening riff?
Okay so I have cloth in my ears because to me they barely sound similar. Paul Burton is the diamond.

Rest In Peace Helena Stromdahl
I never met Helena in person but over the years we traded, bought records from each other and chatted. She was a strong beautiful woman with great passion and taste. What a huge loss for her family and friends to have her leave so young. There are so few female DJ's and one best has gone way too soon. My deepest condolences to her nearest and dearest.

Music Career's Resurrected By The Northern Soul Scene
Thanks all. I was in a rush out the door when I posted this, I'd been pondering it all day. To articulate it a bit better, it was more about the artists who had left music and been found by people on the scene and started to perform again. Many had fleeting careers in the 60's and played as much if not more later for the soul scene Terry Callier started touring again after been found pumping gas I think?

Which artists have forged new careers as a direct result of the NS scene?

Any Rocksteady Experts Here ?
It's worth the money just to avoid those Studio One late 70's pressings with the awful Rhodes over dubbed on tracks.

Newbies And The Current Scene
No buffet at Lifeline but I think there were bacon butties, the 4am cup of tea was genius, I'd like to itroduce that over here. I was actually quite surprised and releaved to find the dancefloor full of varied dance styles so my shuffling didn't stand out too much.

Melbourne - Any Recommendations?
The Guardian article was and interesting one. The Northern soul scene is definitely growing in numbers, having just come back from the National held this year in Brisbane where 450/500 people probably attended and 10% where kids in their 20's shows pleasing shift as this has always been a 95% ex-pat scene. Within this scene 4 figure records are common, though not in the general Melbourne club nights like Cherry or Soul A Go Go which are 60's music with some northern played but these nights are populated by mostly younger kids in numbers of 400+ which is a great thing. I've worked as a dj for 20 years and there has never been more work. Melbourne loves soul and I regularly play 5-6 nights a week however only a couple of my gigs are for dancers, the bulk of of my work is in bars and restaurants which suits me fine as I collect a lot of slower stuff. My personal theory is that Australia has always had a high standard of living, essentially a middle class nation and that is why northern soul has never resonated with the larger population here like it has in many other countries.
