Vistone
Last bump, I can't believe there's only one Vistone single out there among all the vinyl nutters who buy anything with a big hole in it! PS I don't need Carmel Covered Popcorn

Selling Bootleg Cd's
So is this an official re-release thread or a bootleg version without your written permission?

Vistone
I really need to see/hear 2023 2021 2025 2019 but any half decent ones up to 2049 would be interesting. It then seemed to jump from 1962 to 1968 releases. Cheers Ady

No papers from me, it was scribble on the train, but the whole sad story can be re-run if you go to the link in post # 61 just above here. Ady

Toby Bullard On Flodavieur
I'm not sure you should be advertising bootlegs on here Mark!

Ezzie very kindly loaned it me and it's two very good 1961 mod/jazz vocal tracks and defo original pressing, i think the pink label just makes it look more recent, particularly as pink was so popular in the mid 60s in LA. It came out on LA's Vistone label first, I bet Sebastian knows a bit about it!? Ady

Yes, they've weathered the immediate threat, but still a long way to go, so get your fine self down there.

Millionaire-Billy Duke
I like Chuck's version and we've got an unreleased version bt Lee Thomas on a Scepter/Wand/Musicor CD out in January. I've not heard this one for yonks. There's also unissued by Ed Townsend, Jackie Moore, The Fabulous Dinos and a great Ashford Armstead Simpson number from the Shirelles as well as lots of big and intriguing actual releases.

Trade Martin isn't the same song is it? Chuck Jackson did the unreleased Wand version

Toby Bullard On Flodavieur
Yes, Ezzie, i'm very interested as I do research and licensing with Flodavieur herself (the label owner's daughter). It came out on Vistone and Billy did have a genuine Flodavieur release but it could conceivably have been done as a boot, the number's weird, the only one on the 700 series. Then again if you were gonna boot, you'd probably pick an unknown 600 #. Any chance of a loan to assess it all please? If it's a good mod jazzer we could use it and she'd earn a few more $s from her dad's legacy. Cheers Ady

Yes, if the publishers of the song are also paid, but not onto someone else's label that they had no right to do. And of course San Franisco TKOs is a boot, Ace own the label/tapes. It's available on a Kent 45 for £6 with Salt & Pepper on the flip! But it's not got a big hole so somebody might prefer to pay £20+ with no royalties going to the artists and songwriters

Yes you need the written consent of the recording's owner. This is totally a boot as it's even out on an illegal Flodavieur label, the presser could get sued for copyright stealing too! Ady

Rare Records and Raucous Nights: Investigating Northern Soul -Salford 04 Nov
https://interactivecu...f-northern-soul If you could stand 38 mins of me droning on about licensing and side matters like bootlegging, go to the above link and revel in my new-look, yellow sloppy jumper. I really should get to the gym. The whole event was very worthwhile and I must say validated by the turn out of Soul Sourcers who contributed to a lively and enlightening debate. I understood most of it and even had my thoughts provoked at different stages. I did find the closing presentation to be a few hundred yards over my head; there was a fair bit of philosophy and non Northern stuff in there, but i have been reliably informed that at most similar dos, it's like that for the majority of the talk, not the minority as in this case. If any points are brought up about licensing, I'd be happy to answer them, but maybe we should start a separate thread as it was only a part of this much bigger presentation. Ady
