Which is doubly weird as I've found a master tape of a single edit. Any chance of a good scan to use in the booklet, or is this one you found on t'net? Cheers Simon

Please, that would be awesome as the young folks say.

Was this played as a new release or a "discovery" and if so why in preference to the Detroit Emeralds, is it faster (I ain't got the DEs here to compare). Anyone remember its Northern History? Ta Ady

Thanks for that Richard, maybe it only got as far as demos like the Jimmy Scott 'Anna' seems to have been.
  5. Just like us Dave!
  6. Ace people were lucky enough to go out with her for a meal last night and she's a lovely and entertaining person as well as being a bit flirty; she had one of our directors in the palm of her hand (metaphorically speaking!). She regaled us with stories of touring with the Beatles and being the first LA artist to record in Detroit for Motown. The live show on Wednesday was excellent, I was particularly impressed with Mable John who I wasn't particularly looking out for, she's 79 and commanded the stage like a blues veteran. She did mainly Stax material sensibly as her Motown stuff was very early.

Has anyone got this, listed as 55413? I could use a scan or at least a timing please. Ady

I've got an unreleased (probably) Roy Smith crossover dancer called 'Stop Sign', it may have been destined for Delphi.

Check out her previously unreleased Miles grayson produced side on Kent CD Masterpieces Of Modern Soul Vol 2, and the sleeve note about her black rights activism and appearing at the White House in recent years.
  10. Probably not Sean, there are a few that got as far as label copy but there's no evidence that they ever came out. Thanks, we'll save it for the ballad CD
  11. Thanks Paul and Sean; above and beyond the call of duty!
  12. I'm not sure on this, I just saw it in our label copy listing. There are a few in there that may not have come out. Hopefully Sean will check his TP for the flip.
  13. Great, can you do me an audio copy please, don't need a dub just yet. I've got a few nice tracks for you so look out for the postie! Cheers Ady
  14. Anyone got or know of this one from 1976? Ady
  15. That's nice and thanks very much it's not the same as this master tape of Linda Lyndell that I'm listening to, different song. Cheers and have a good one on Saturday with Eddie, Tom and the boys
  16. Is it a very fast R&B/Soul number?
  17. Guess what, Tony's copy of this is a Jamaican issue which is a lower quality dub, Russ is in an ocean somewhere shipping water and we need a mintish copy for a dub as the master for this one never emerged. Can any of you help out please? You will be rewarded.

I'll check it out Kev, thanks. The one of his Dave Thorley used to play is a bit too electronic for this CD.

Thanks chaps, particularly the Cobblers Posse but they're all that little bit too Jazz Funk for this comp, perhaps we can do a follow up in that vein. It looks like the Bob & Harold, Joe Mathews and Eddie Hill might be unissued then despite having a label number.

Anyone got the Eddie Hill I Am So Thankful? Come on you Detroit collectors, that and the Joe Mathews are elusive, did they come out?

Nearly made it but as it's on the ols Westbound groups CD, I went for I Got To Have Your Love.
  22. That's very sad, he was a top quality singer. Sweetest Thing was the first "soppy" record I really liked, then came the Delfonics and Ronnie Dyson and gurls!

OOya! I'm afraid it's not made the cut, it must have sounded OK at Cleethorpes full of pills but like me it hasn't worn well!
