Sticker Removal
HI ALL .....STICKER REMOVAL WARNING! PLEASE DON'T USE MOST OF THE TIPS ALREADY GIVEN, AS THEY ARE A BAD JOKE, THAT I DON'T LIKE.... WHAT TO USE:- LIGHTER FLUID, METHS SPIRIT, MILD SOAPY SALOUTION, COTTON BUDS, LINT FREE CLOTH, ACTION:- APPLY FLUID TO THE STICKER, (FLUID WILL NO CAUSE ANY DAMMAGE). WHILE FLUID IS WET WIH YOU FINGER NAIL, GENTLEY TRY TO MAKE A GAP BY LIFTING THE STICKER FROM THE LABEL, ONCE YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THIS RE APPLY FLUID TO THE LABEL, MAKING SURE HAT IT PPENATRATES UNDER THE STICKER, AGAIN USING YOUR FINGER NAIL, SEPERATE THE STICKER FROM THE LABEL, AT ANY STAGE THE LABEL COULD BECOME FREE OR EASY, WHEN IT REACHES THIS STAGE, RE APPLY FLUID AND VERY GENLY PEEL HE STICKER, MOST LABEL TARES HAPPEN A THIS STAGE, MY TIP IS TO PEEL SO FAR, THEN PEEL FROM THE OPPERSIT SIDE, NEVER TUG, ONCE HE STICKER IS OF, THE RESIDUE LEFT ON HE LABLE WILL BE ACTIVE, SO THE NEXT STAGE IS DOWN TO THE PAPER USED FOR THE RECORD LABEL UK & US LABLES:- REMOVEING THE STICKER GOO OF A UK RECORD IS A PAIN! AS MOST UK LABELS ARE AT BEST BLAND, AND POURAS SO THE RULE IS TO DAB NOT RUB, i USE A COTTON BUD WITH FLUID ON, USE A GENTLE ROLLING ACTION, WHEN MOST OF THE GOO IS REMOVED, USE A CLOTH WITH MEHS AND DAB IT ON THE AREA, THE NEX STAGE IS DOWN TO THE PAPER USED, PYE &ATLANTIC 1st RED LABEL AND SIMULAR LABELS ARE EASY RUINED BY CHEMICLES AND THAT INCLUDES THE DAMAGE THE STICKER GLUE HAS LEFT AS IT WILL LEAVE A PATCH WERE IT HAS BEEN, MAKING A DARKER MARK ON THE LABEL, THIS IS WHY MOST DEALERS DONT BOTHER THESE DAYS IN ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE STICKERS, AS THE RECORDS VALUE IS REDUCED MORE, IF POOR RESTARATION WORK IS DONE, LEAVE IT TO AN EXPERT, i PURCHESSED A COPY OF THE 1st issue JOHNNY WYATS "THIS THING CALLED LOVE"PRESIDANT, FROM SOUL SAM AT LIFELINE ALL-NIGHTER, A VERY NICE COPY BU HAD SOME GREEN PEN MARKS ON IT, AFTER KNOCKING £20 OFF HIS ALREADY KNOCKED DOWN PRICE, i HAVE RESTORED IT BACK TO A PERFECT COPY AGAIN, THE QUESTION IS WHY DID MARIN NOT DO THIS? THE ANSWER IS I NO WHAT I AM DOING AND HAVE THE TIME AND PATIANTS, US RECORDS:- MOST US LABELS CAN BE RESTORED EASY IF YOU AKE YOUR TIME, THE PAPER USED IS VERY DIFFERANT THAN UK PAPER, BUT AGAIN, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHA YOU ARE DOING LEAVE ALONE, EVEN MORE SO IF THEY ARE RARE? ANY THING YOU DO IS AT YOUR RISK, SO I STAE AGAIN DON'T MESS UNLES YOU ARE SURE OF WHA YOU ARE DOING, TRUST ME, "NEVER PLAY WITH FIRE"?? AS ALWAYS I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR ACTIONS, ONLY MINE? One More Price Needed - Cavaliers - Rca Stock Copy
HI ALL...PETE As you are aware I don't sell many records these days & I collect UK. However I have a few US label records both easy and hard to find or in my case only buy if cheap? I have both CAVALERS Northern Soul records one RCA, "I HOLD TO MY BABY" is a true classic, and I actually got the bootleg of it, A few weeks ago in the SOULSOURCE FOR SALE, I got a black issue in VG+ and 2 other records maybe 3, from a DETROIT DEALER for $100, I think he wanted $30 for it, if you check the last week of July you should find out, I can't believe that it was so cheap as a black issue, as i looks & plays great, was this just LUCK? To be honest no never or the James Carr B&C DEMO yet as I say all the others have demo copies, so it may be alive, if He Out exists I would like it, but there's more chance in finding the Volumes on PAMA Which faced with all the evidence stating it does not, as I have written before, if you have seen it you believe it? Soulsource Record Of The Day, (Summer Holidays)Closed Don't Use Post Closed
HI ALL Well this is a Rare night, I was going to put up as my pick the MARCELLS BLUE MOON PYE INTERNATIONAL, No a SOUL RECORD but a fantastic record that opened the door, so to say, to allow more black music to be issued, however right next to this great UK label I have my PYE 45's so I have picked this non soul record, but 100% NORTHERN DANCE, & RARE UK ONLY. The 1st time I heard this record, was when MICK SMITH SMITH played it to me, he found it at one of his junk shops that he discovered while driving around London, this was in-fact found in Watford, now I can't say he discovered this one (he did). however it is still one of the top 10 UK only records to be played it's rare and I want a nice copy of it, if any one has it for sale, Well SUMMER IS OVER, as such the AUTUM FALL WILL BE STARTED AS A NEW THREAD SOON. Eddie Parker - Love You Baby Boot?
HI ALL The history of this great record and one of the true Northern Soul records of all time, even though you will have a problem following the beat if you are a dancer(true) The ARCHER stamp and the ASHFORD LABEL has been a talking point since I have been aware of the record back in 1972, so with all the collectors who have had this record, on paper you would think their would be a definite answer, as it does not seem to be a question for debate on for example EDWARD HAMLETONS MARY JANE releases?? In my TORCH & EARLY WIGAN COLLECTION, I have a copy that I believe is a legit 1st issue stamped with ARCHER (BIG LETTERS), I also have an identical copy with ARCHER (SMALL LETTERS) , As I am no expert, to me that is also legit, there are copies with the swamp ARCHER in a hi/low patten? I don't think this is a boot, and may not be on many peoples wants, surly it's no booby prize, In 1973 I traded a quantity of ALL-NIGHTER ATMOSPHERE! for a white label ASHFORD DEMO it had a red A stamped on it, along with a UK MGM PINK DEMO - FATHERS ANGELS. The DEMO was stamped in the way TED has mentioned ARCHER on the vocal side only, the red A has nothing to do with anything, some DJ must of have added it,s it's no on other copies, the DEMO in my opinion is a very rare, and worth much more than pills and caps, I hope this is of some use, to sum up, it is my opinion that with stamp or without, stamped are proper & some of the unstamped could be? Going To The Coast, Bank Holiday Monday 1969
HI and many thanks, for the input grest stuff, CHEIFYS commments may be correct? but I will stick to my version that it followed AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY, As Bt Yarmouth had the NEW BEACH smashed to bits, GREEBO got stuck on the tip of my umbrella recieved fatal wound, (good job I lost it?) following a savage attack on a GREEBO outside the OASIS, John Wilson the man who boiled his baby to death when his misses left him? single handed destroyed the man with head butts, the BIG FIGHT on REGENT ROAD near bowling ally. To me every town in HARTFORDSHIRE WS THERE, INCLUDING MANY FROM LUTON? However it was the fight on the GREEN, That I will always rember, about 15 of us were in the sights of about 70 GREEBO and they attacked I ran round to a mini van parked near the back off the OASIS, when I saw SNOWY (the albino) only feet away stick a garden rake into the boat of this GREEBO, and pulled his face off with a swift tug, he got QUEENS PLESURE DAVE

Going To The Coast, Bank Holiday Monday 1969
HI ALL Every Bank Holiday that comes & goes, it is those from 1969, for me are very much a part of me, 1869, was the very best year in the 60 years I have lived, every thing about that year was very much me, and all the kids who had rejected society, my story about this aspect of the most Violent Youth sub culture is not just about fashion, it.s about spirit, this was the last Bank Holiday of the 60's and is now known as the year of the SKINHEAD, however to most of the original BB we are proud to be the originals, Bank Holidays would soon be over, but the new 69-70 season was kicking of to the sound of OI! OI! OI! here are 2 draft pages from my book of facts, THE SPIRIT of 69, and it's meaning??? DAVE

HI Sometimes the saying "it's a small world" is very apt!, you will no who I sold it to and my son Taffy from Letchworth, in fact it was myself who introduced rare soul to all the well known faces, every Monday I did a soul disco at the LEYS YC, Talking about Andrew as I mentioned before, it was he, that I got the BLACK & RED SUE RECORDS OF? he is a good man, and putting the DOCTOR BIRD LABEL to rest their is a fantastic uptempo northern dancer on the label still to be discovered? and as for rare DOCTOR BIRD it's LP gas it is with COXONE / STUDIO 1 ISLAND, no one could afford them, 52/6 a Levi jacket was £3-17/6 in 1067 I only got £3-15s and had to give the old dear 30 Bob 1gal of 25-1 was 1s 10p to put in the LI 150 SERIES2? to get into the MECCA was 5/- and if you were stupid enough to buy a Sort a drink, they always said I will have a Brandy & Babycham with a cherry 6Bob on nothing no wonder I sold 5s & 10s in brown envelopes Somewhere I have a box of shop monthly pamphlets listing every LP issued from 64 - 71 with prices, I could easy compile a list of the LPs that were popular back then, before I go the GAYLADS "LADY IN A RED DRESS" DB, was a very big sound at the TWISTED WHEEL CLUB, makes you think? Sir KILLER, HERE ARE SOME PLATERS THAT MATTERS, FROM YOU HOST WITH THE MOST, SO GIDDY UP ROCK STEADY STYLE & CHUNE UP! YOU NO WHAT i MEAN BRUV AKA DAVE the CARL BRET is recomended by myself to you one and all. XX

HI ALL As I say lads, when I first started to buy JAMAICAN music, ERIC BARNET "THE HORSE" GAS100 Being the first one to last one RUPI EDWARDS of that era 68 - 71, I value every one, properly for the vast majority more than my soul collection, WINSTON GROOVY "GROOVIN" NU-BEAT, DERICK MORGAN "RETURN OF JACK SLADE" UNITY, LAURAL AIKEN "JESSIE JAMES" NU-BEAT, ROLAND ALPHONSO " ZAPATOO THE TIGER JACKPOT, BIG JOHN & LITTLE JOHN (DESMOND RILEY) "SKINHEAD A MESSAGE TO YOU" DOWNTOWN, HIPPY BOYS "Dr NO GO" HIGH NOTE JOE WHITE "THERES A TIME" BIG, LLYOD WILLIAMS "I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU" BAMBOO, and so many more I got at the time of release, what I am saying there are loads of collectors to-day who have more knowledge than myself but lack the full experience that I associate with back in 68 integrating with the JAMAICANS, As for the DOCTOR BIRD LABEL back then I had 4 PHOENIX CITY & WHIP were the best sellers amongst the Suits & Boot Boys, as the Pyramid & JJ took over, as for loads of GLEN MILLERS? YES back in the late 7t's when you could find shed loads, you prove to me that you find me a copy in excellent condition under £200 over the next 24 hours, and I will concede to you, Until then I will leave you with this quote "I don't give a f**k never have never will because I'm the DADDY more than skin deep DAVE the BLADE

HI ALL Am I having laugh, you will be calling me a *Pikey next? when it comes down to Rare UK releases that have been discovered since 1980 that have a value over £300 because of there rarity & quality, not because of demand most people would struggle at naming 10 there are 2 quality sides on this 45, as for putting a price on it, I think the price I sold Pete 1 of 4 copies reflects, my comments, also the dealer grades are strict, I am sure if I had a look at it, it would be in ex condition, it's also OK if you don't think its value for money or not your personal taste, by me! as for the £30 STAG copy that must be the copy I got from Andrew (Tradition Records) not was the 1st issue not the later repress, sold it for a few hundred, not bad. I even gave MICK £100, because he is a mate? To conclude, if you do like this record, forget what Pete is saying as I can only think of 2 rarer DOCTOR BIRD RECORDS not many? it's also a good job that I was not bedding the record up, so I could then sell a copy, that would make me upset, the actual record is worth it, although I would not pay more than £100 for a copy, but them days are well gone, that's why I kept my copy! as I collect Rare RECORDS, and don't collect stamps, in other words "cough if you want to get off" may the spirit of 69 be with you ..DAVE *(I am a Romany)

The All-Time Top 20 Soul Lp's On The Rare Soul Scene
HI ALL There are so many great VA LP's MOTOWN CHARTBUSTERS 3 being one of the very best, however to pick a compilation as good as this, Well in my opinion it's a must for inclusion into the top 20? early days though, RARE STAMPS is in, there are some great LP's listed so far, but are good for certain trax, I think they don't come close to for example MARVIN GAYES "WHATS GOING ON" if we need a bench mark, the TEMPEST LP is sure bet as is the HESITATIONS, But as I say early days to pick 20, to conclude I come across a copy of the UA LP with Pete Smiths name & address on it, I am sure I gave it back to him? DAVE
