HI ALL I ACTUALLY LIKE THE RECORD, HOWEVER! I have not got it in my collection for 1 reason it aint worth the price, for a non soul record £125 is the very top price! thats for a DEMO, in fact Murial Day PAGE ONE DEMO is far better and rarer? but it seems to have got tagged with the trash records of the 70s but in real terms it us a good record that never comes up for sale!

Possible To Tell If Original Pressing?
Hi All the best and easy way with RCA is to check the soul record, against ELVIS records as he released records 2/3 times a year in every year of the 60s you can marry any issue or DEMO, as tons of info on Elvis than on any other RCA VICTOR dave

What Issue Is This, Johnny Sayles
Hi All must say I agree with you, as the Butch Baker that was booted about the same time is completely different to the Johnny Sayles as the only differences are very small in comparison, in fact if I remember correctly the Johnny Sayles issue & Demo come from a different pressing plant altogether, as I have never seen a White Demo of it, only the same label and the same color, unlike Mamie Galore demos which are blue & white with skyline or white with St Lawrence on, as there are so many variations, I could only state that I am 100% that the Butch Baker that has off centre vocal is wrong for sure? I for one, would like to find out more about this record? it may have been done by the same person who did "my loves a monster on CHI-TOWN but that's just me guessing DAVE

Soulsource Record Club Record Of The Day 2012
HI KEV, Tgat is exactly why I started the thread, it has to be eclectic in form to make it enjoyable, for every one, it does not matter if it is woth 50p or £5000, if it turns you on and you want to share the tune, especialy if you feel "it's to good to be forgotten, what more can I say" It also allows you to recieve feedback from DJ & collectors alike, And if you want to be a DJ but will be seldom asked, your choice, for 1 day is just the same BUZZ! well I get emence enjoyment from the thread, thats why I dont post every day as even that sometimes may put others of posting, I would love to have a club to go to and here what brilliant records that have been picked by all members rather than have the same stuff being played all the while, thanks for your comments, DAVE

HI PETE DO YOU REALY THINK I READ THE POSTS, as I dont, reading and writing for me is a challange, and i lose the focus, many many times I write things, only to find out that i have left out bits, the brain moves on and you see a load of garbadge, plus I have broke my specks.? The good thing in my jouny ey of serendipity as fate dictates were we are going , you have to recognise the link, as you may know I was a BIG L FRA member in 64/5 and have a passion for Radio CAROLINE BRITONS 1st comercil RADIO Station, CAROLINE THE SOUND OF THE NATION on 259 metres. And now you have told me the record, indeed it was a ROGER CHAPMAN record who use to go to the Night Owl in Liecester, and the inventer of the stahe PA called a Foldback System the group Family were the very 1st group in the world to be able to hear what they were playing when I worked as a part time roadie the average group would use a WEM 5 channel mixer, the WHo was the loudest band to play the Marquee Club Kicking out an amazing 200 watt of power Yes 200 watt using a t100 watt wem amp and a slave amp of 100 watts wow, see the link, someone out there is thinking 200 watts most groups relied on inderviidual combos, I defenantley am going to start a new thread were it's ok to speak about the scene and here what others think or something like the did you know this fact on the soul source fact or to debate, have your daily interesting questions answerd by 2 WOLVERHAMPTON DO YOU KNOW WHY THINGS GO DARKER WHEN WET? i MISS THE OLD THREAD ON JA MUSIC, T RAS SLOW REGGAE?

Can Anyone Help With What This Instro Is?
HI FIRST of last night I got a bit angry with myself, about not knowing that DAVE had passed away, a special bloke in that he always made an effort to make me feel welcome at every All Nighter gopeng reet back as he would say, there used to be many people on the scene who went through this masonic greeting that has been part of the scene since the late 60s , not sure how to answer the question as the UK has 90% of the rare soul, as and they missed the boat, and have adopted the UK term Northern Soul a term that we all credited to DAVE GODIN now he has passed away some people seem to think it's outdated pass it sell by date,, I have a strong dislike to hypocrites liars & cowards also cheats, as I come from the baby boom black & white society, many of the things we got up to in our latent youth, back then was taking on the establishment and by the mid to late 60s when the MODS went soft, and got all yer man"" Far out! man, was a big shock for many of us who were turning 16 & 17 in 1967, down SOUTH being a MOD meant respect sharp a wedge of cash girl on the arm, as the mods become hippyfied it was hard to take in that a geezer who had a reputation of COOL but would bottle you if you started to screw his SORT, HAD TURNED INTO a drop out scruff and started to speak like a student, cool it man you are being heavy man, I could not believe it but what happened was we put the whole idea of lawless boot boys, in 1967 a dance hall fight was like this, to blokes saying watch what you are saying come on step outside, and the did and they would take there jackets of and have a fist fight the 1st one to drop to there knees lost in 1968 we changed that way of fighting and the first thing you did was join a firm, a firm is not a gang, a firm was made up from lots of crews , at the same time I was doing my thing the old Rockers of motorcycle clubs like the famous 69 club who would meet on CHELSEA BRIDGE, STARTED TO ADDOPT THE STYLE OF THE US HELLS ANGELS MC & THE OUTLAWS MC, this revolution of what was going on come to a violent year 2 years after the Summer of Love and 4 years after the high point of being a MOD 1965, you had the most violent gangs that I can remember in 1969 the BOOT BOYS RULED EVERY WERE, EVERY TIME YOU LEFT YOU HOUSE, YOU WERE READY FOR EVERYTHING, TOOLED UP & THIS WAS NOT JUST THE WHITE KIDS IT WAS THE JAMAICAN KIDS AS WELL WHO ADOPTEED A MORE MOD LOOK SUITED UP, if you had black mates you could go to there clubs, which were terraced houses with 3 or 4 cellars knocked into 1 these clubs were normally well run and you could not just walk into them typically the caller was open at 10 and shut at 5am the music was the new Jamaican sound named after a sexual hip thrusting dance from Jamaica with a emphasis on the BASS the sound man was the boss an adopted many flash titles to there name respect for the elders was paramount in the HOLE CLUBS, and all older men were called DADDY still a term used today I have even been called it and younger people like Ian Guy (TAFFY ) from Letchworth always calls me DAD, this multicultural world was a haven for me and I embraced every thing to do with THE JA SCENE even built my first sound system and went with the sound man when he got his records in various locations in London . I really should right a book about the term we use the Spirit Of 69 out of all the years n the 60s the amount of film taken is virtually non existing apart from picture of boot boys taking there laces from the boots on match days It's amazing how 1869 is remembered today with the VIET NAM WAR HIPPYS GETTING A GOOD KICKING BY THE OLD BILL AT THE US EMBASSY IN GROVENER SQARE, what do younger people say 1969 was about the name the media gave to us "skinheads" this was OK as such even though only a very small number of people had shaved heads a #2 was regular #1 meant you were looking for agro? why don't you here the phrase SKINHEAD SOUL? well it sounds stupid as there ain't non . so why is it used on early reggae to me it is exactly the same, vintage yes early yes 69 reggae yes please Jamaican reggae yes, London Heavy Bass Reggae ( this covers all the records by Laural Aiken) surely it better , when I think of the WORD I can see a goon with doctor Martins laced up to the knees a puffed out bomber jacket jeans to tight a nd a swastika on his his fore head, hurting you, or worse a group of balding 40 year old man with a Ben Sherman shirt not tucked in and not button up to leave just the top button open talking football remember the COCKNEY REDS? ANY MORE OF THIS TAKES THE PISS OUT OF THIS THREAD SO ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE THE CLUBS IN THE NORTH AND IN LONDON WILL GO INTO A NEW THREAD DAVE60

Can Anyone Help With What This Instro Is?
HI ALL THE RECORD IN QUESTION IS A WEST COST EARLY FUNK, AND IT SOUNDS LIKE HOLLYWOOD SESSIN MEN DOIN A JAM VERSION OF SWEET GRAPES. THE RECORD MATRIX MAY INDICATE IF WAS A PURE SOUL RECORDING OUT OF HOLLYWOOD, RANDY WOODS MUSISIONS WERE LIKE THOSE IN DETROIT CHICARRGO PHILLY, JUST GREAT MUSITIONS. NOTICE THE AFRO RYTHAM FUNK, THIS RECORD HAS AS MUCH TO DO WITH MODS AS A POKE IN THE EYE FROM ME WITH A SHARP STICK, THERE WERE NO MODS WHEN THIS WAS RECORDED IN 1969 . HOW SOME PEOPLE LIKE TO LABEL MUSIC WRONGLY. IRRATATES ME, LIKE THE TERM SKINHEAD REGGAE, THERE IS ONLY 6 RECORDS THAT HAVE THE WORD SKINHEAD IN, AND FOR THE RECORD APART FROM SKINHEAD MOONSTOMP I HAVE ONLY MET 1 WHITE BOY WHO HAD A COPY OF SKINHEAD A MESSAGE TO YOU, ON DOWNTOWN, ME ALL THE OTHER RECORDS AND MOST OF WHAT SOUNDS SO FAMILIAR NOW, WOULD BE UNKNOW TO 98% OF BOVVER BOYS IN 69 EARLY REGGAE YES, AGAIN WHAT DO YOU THINK MY MATES WHO COME FROM JAMAICA THINK, WHEN THEIR MUSIC IS TAKEN OFF THEM, RENAMED, AFTER WHAT IS RECKOGNISED THE WORLD OVER .AS A TERM FOR FACIST THUGS, MMMMM!! BET IT WILL BE HARD FOR YOU YOUNG ONES TO TAKE THIS IN with Oi! 2 TONE MAY DAY 79 THE JAM IT'S NOT THE REAL STUFF AGAIN? PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT ME USEING CAPITAS MY ISSUES ARE ABOUT UNDERSTANDING THE ROOTS OF BLACK MUSIC OUR MUSIC DAVE 69 GGRRR RANT & RAGE

Are Some Northern Fans More Into Collecting Than The Music?
HI STEVE If Pete has not stated this fact before, Back in the 50s & 60s the music publisher and the song writer soaked up all the Money, the singer got paid by session and the musicians got paid less than a Dustman and if they were sick they had a tuff way back, the world of showbiz is great if you start looking how it evolved over the 1st 40 years and notice how the pecking order works, i have the article you talk about, and it ideal for making my point. 1, at 1st glance we are swept away with the notation of the article half a century on, This classic recording that belongs to the longest sub youth culture without a break our scene the IN CROWD that has many similar secrets and codes to the GAY SCENE, We feel secure that we are on the scene, there's no dark corners to worry about, we are indeed a band of GIPSYS as no one dictates to us except for the top 20 names who have us all hooked on there iconic status and the control that they have exploited from our loyalty and weakness when we are in there company, (right wing politics are made from such people as us) Think about the work by Pavlov? and the Dogs?? 2, Once we analyze the article and similar articles in BILLBOARD, we can see something on many pages, in Evey add or picture the artist is glammed up for showbiz the 60s this is so noticeable, with the trend of white men with long hair, what the world of showbiz would make artist do, to secure a job?/ again to make a point, the record by SONNY & CHER "I GOT YOU BABE" ON ATLANTIC RECORDS, GREAT RECORD, I will get back to that later, you don't need a picture as your brain has every thing you have looked at in your life stored away that my trigger is going to allow you to look at a picture in real HD, just think what SONNY BONO looks like take a real good look at his cloths his face his features his hair, what did you see and did you take in everything and put aside the showbiz if you did you will see a real nerd but a clever middle class nerd far away from the underground scenes that started in the UK HE IS WAREING BRAND NEW CLOTHS WITH THE LATEST LOOK, almost like a hippie, but we all know he would not ever leave the safety of the middle class and DROP OUT, he is political in manner, and 100% fake, look at his grooming his stupid hair cut, and the garland around his neck, how many forgot to remember the garland? 3. Still with SONNY & CHER, let's look who they have a contract with?? ATLANTIC RECORDS again we can easy be swept up by just me stating this RECORD LABEL again if we can see hundreds of of different variations of the records label sleeves and the artists and many many hit records some of the best recordings that will still be popular and unequalled when we all have gone from the our bodies, WHY is SONNY BONO & his misses we call CHER? working for ATLAANTIC? surely they would have been more suited at CAPITAL or REPRISE RECORDS rubbing shoulders with the RAT PACK? 4, So lets remind ourselves where we are? I am talking about 1 hit record by SONNY & CHER on ATLANTIC, which was owned by ?? in the SOUTHERN STATES, below the MASON DIXON LINE what white AMERICAN call DIXIELAND, the home of REDKNECKS and NASCAR C&W MEMPHIS NEW ORLEANS. oh yes I was forgetting to state the white trailer trash, hillbillies and the low life NIGGER who would rape you wife children and your mother, and then call you Boss! there is not a good one, thank the LORD we have the KKK, who will string them up. Like a STRANGE FRUIT* 5, I remember the 60s and my early days on our scene and the reggae scene to quote a well known face on our scene, " I Hate Niggers but you have to admit no white person can sing like them" if that sounds like someone you know. please go away from me? Have a cuppa TEA, as I have planted a seed, you have to add liquid so it can grow, also if any thing I have written causes you offence, don't give me the Political correctness lecture just to be a goody goody as I like to associate with bad men? sorry I meant black men? soz! 6, RED & WHITE DEMOS and obscure records, as a 16 year old many off the people I associated with had a major impact on who I am today especially in fashion and music, REGGAE SOUL MOTOWN STAX ATLANTIC A WHITE UK PROGRESSIVE BLUES, Quality cloths that gave you the freedom to fight or Robb a chemist or nick a car or scooter just because I could , unlike today I use to get a kick out of lets say spending 30 minutes emptying a Cigarette machine at 3 in the morning? in fact I gave away little but took any thing i could get for nothing, I was not a bully far from it I Just did not give a Monkeys, places like SOHO and CLUBS like the Twisted WHEEL in MANCLAND, for many of you stands for the HOLY GRAIL if you attend the WHEEL now I bet you are wafting about with the showbiz razI am sure you have a great time, The Twisted Wheel was for me a 60s Club with great Music, but if you have a Cockney Accent and you went into the pub before the WHEEL what reaction do you think I got asking for a pint of light & bitter in a jug, i guarantee that no body got screwed by the pilled up 4 by 2s, 6, the Fluff article was in the trade mag for one reason he was representing the EMI company, a paying respect to our American cousins, HE could of said thanks for sending Ray Pollard over to the UK he enjoyed play to a UK audience? (USAF BASES) and he even cut a few tracks at ABBY ROAD for us and the session was so good I am thanking you by the way did you like Hermann's Version of the Earl Jean number so can you plug his version hard as the Dutch Have her signed up, BLAH BLAH BLAH. 7, the Drifter is a rare record because it was the Song that EMI wanted, and RAY is just to Black for the UK well Fluff Freeman said that it would be a good song for John Balladry, and we all no when he is called Long John, 8 , I do concede although the evidence is conjecture, Both singles Are UK recordings and that's why there are a few white cover versions released in the UK IN THE STATES who else did a cover , maybe there's a undiscovered Garnet Mimms on tape, but the record is to real for 60s SofA , just like Billie Holidays STRANGE FRUIT was??? WHO Made the most money from ATLANTIC a. the SOUL CLAN or b, SONNY BONE with his hit I got you babe, I do hope there was something in this scribble that makes you think and feel the GROOVE THANG! and these are just opinions from me, and not 100%factual?? mmmmm!!!! DAVE60 Has he finished yet

Worst Soul Numberplate Ever ?
The PLATE FAB1 was owned by a car dealler from Hitchin Herts (so does Scratchin?) he and anouther car man who run the posh Masons Corner Garage in Hitchim , they built a replica of the Thunderbird ROLLS ROYCE, it was a roller except the coach work, they put the FAB 1 plates on, but just like John Lennon ROLS, the company passed some info and for years the car was of the road, the owner was a geezer his name was DICK SHERRIF, So I am guessing the car you saw was not shocking pink? knowing DICK SHERRIF I bet the person payed a lot of £££££ for it? DAVE60
