  1. I know there are plenty of well known male duets but not to many female but I have just been listening to The Soul Sisters Think about the good times on Sue and these two have amazing voices that have an awesome blend on this record and work so well together. This is a female duet at its best IMO. Take a listen on this link. https://www.the44soulclub.co.uk/ss.mp3 Any other female duets that can rival this?
  2. On the subject of Mary Wells , picked up the motown-esque Cant you see (your'e losing me) on UK black Atlantic off the boot sale this morning along with others. Worth gettting up early for alone.
  3. Someone was selling a load of different car stickers at The Connaught last Friday Ted at £2.00 each , I'm pretty sure there was a keep the faith one there. Maybe Phil , Woody or Chalky knows who he was.
  4. Another superb overlooked and so underplayed Supremes uptempo track. Some things you never get used to. Play this loud and listen to the lyrics. It's the same routine of getting up every morning And putting on a smile But underneath there's another person Who can't find a reason to make living worthwhile Ah, another day to get through Without the love that once was mine Sometimes I think my heartaches come to an end And then something brings them all back again Like wanting you and like having you I'll never get used to I've gotten used to not listing For familiar sounds you used to make Now I'm trying to get out of the habit Of calling your name first thing when I awake Look here ! It's like a child's first step I have to learn to walk all, all over again 'Cause you were always there if I should fall And now there's nobody else that I can call It's like wanting you and not having you I'll never get used to Lost in a cloud I think I caught a glimpse of you Blindly I rush to touch your hand, huh! To discover it's my mind Playing tricks on me again Tricks on me again Some things you never get used to Sometimes I think my heartaches come to an end And then something brings them all back again Like wanting you and like having you I'll never get used to It's wanting you and like having you I'll never get used to Look here ! Like wanting you and like having you I'll never get used to
  5. Here's an album I picked up from the car boot sale the other day for 25p. Great cover design and containing a version of Sunny that is so soulful other versions just dont get anywhere near

  7. You're right. Dont know where I got that from. The official time on the label is 1 minute 47 seconds , but I've just played it and its actually 1 minute 40 seconds.
  8. John & The wierdest flip to Can't get over these memories "No time" is 1 minutes 24 seconds long! What a fantastic tune it is as well.
  9. I recently sold a Beverley Ann 45 (Yov've got your mind on other things fame) called We got trouble which was country music meeting northern soul head on. Strange record , anyone else ever heard it?
  10. Just playing Thats understanding by Tami Lynn on Mojo 2092-012 which weighs in at a mighty 5 minutes 4 seconds. Is this the longest playing 7 inch soul 45? Anyone beat that?

  12. You are right Jaine Welsh not Grant. Dont know where I got that from. Nice B side but let down by out of tune vocals IMO. I paid £4.00 for it but I think it goes for around a fiver.
  13. Heres 3 nice tunes I've just picked up cheaply which just goes to show you dont have to spend big money to get quality. I love all 3 of them anyway! bobby_reed___Ill_find_a_way.mp3 janie_grant___cant_stop_thinkin_.mp3 delores_lynn__the_big_search.mp3

  16. I dont think it was booted. Got my US Drew copy off Ebay for a tenner.
  17. Ebay is like a fiddlers elbow if you're selling at the moment but when you score you really score. Look at this what finished tonight. Whats the true value of this ? About £10.00? https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Northern-Soul-Origin...1QQcmdZViewItem

You only played it on my advice as you cued it up Ted . You were about to swap it with a played out oldie and I said leave it on they will love it BTW send me a soundfile of that track you played me over the earphones as I couldn't really hear it properly.
  22. Following the john Rhys thread I thought I'd put this radio show on that John did about his time spent in Detroit that I recorded a few years back.It is no longer available.I did'nt want to add it to the other thread as some people might miss out and I think this deserves a thread of its own. This is absolutely superb essential listening ! It is around a hour long and I will leave this on here for a very limited period. Click on the link below to listen. Enjoy! https://www.the44soulclub.co.uk/Soulfuldetr...roit%20-%20.mp3
  23. Its on a wonderful Fox promo. Just checked and I've run out of balloons so you'll have to have a Johnny instead.
