  1. Have to say that I prefer the look of the multi-coloured (and in my experience very rare) Atlas issue!
  2. I doubt that. I would like to see another 45 from 1978 which has got that kind of computerized type-setting on the label, a beveled edge and transparent vinyl (when held in front of bright lighting). It looks MUCH more like the Glenda McLeod second issue on HGEI (from 1984/1985 or so). Unless I see 100% proof I will consider the gold label issue to be an 80s or 90s pressing. In any case it's a second issue. If legally done (which it obviously is) or not makes no difference, it's still not the original release.
  3. The label looks exactly like the one on the "gold label with dark brown/black lettering" (but much paler!) which was pressed from the same stampers as the original 60s release, hence having superb sound quality and often being refered to as a legit 2nd issue. It might very well BE legit, but it's still a second issue and should be of marginal interest to anyone who collects first issue 45s in my opinion. The pale green one might be a bootleg made from the "gold label" reissue? Here's the gold label reissue, it would really surprise me if it is from the 70s:

No, that is incorrect. It was never issued at the time of release, and not during the 70s, but it did turn up on an official US Tamla 7" in 1995 and was given away for free at some kind of Motown conference or promotion event. Allegedly most copies were left behind by the atendees and the fact that is was pressed in limited quantities (somewhere around 300-500 probably) means that it is sadly quite hard to find these days. It has got catalogue number 42286-0288-7 and came with a nice looking picture sleeve. It has later turned up on a "Chris Kings Anniversary" 45 (which I have heard is legitimate) and also as a bootleg which turned up a couple of years ago. Check out the scans below. ORIGINAL CHRIS KINGS ANNIVERSARY BOOTLEG
  5. No, he was from New Orleans and many of his 45s are on New Orleans/Louisiana labels. Atlas was a New York label. Check out the Danny White CD on Kent for the full story. I have a very strong feeling that the original label for "Keep My Woman Home" was ATTERU and not ATLAS, but the liner notes to that CD tells a different story so perhaps Jeff Hannusch or Tony Rounce knows something that I don't. The sound quality on the Atteru release is much clearer than either the Atlas, Sue UK or Unity issues.
  6. There is about 2 days left on these auctions.

  9. Cal Brandon's "24 Hour Love Man" b/w "I Kept On Smilin" got a release on Bareback (as well as on Hitman) and I think both sides on that 45 are good.

This 45 definitely exists. I have it in my collection. Here is a label scan of the "If I Say Goodbye" side:
  11. There's a link to an MP3 of this great track in the following thread which I posted a couple of days back: /index.p...=0&p=692051 The LP in the above thread is by the way still for sale.

I agree, both versions are great, but Dan Penn's version is the one for me. Have a listen:

  19. I have a copy for sale of a swedish 60s soul compilation LP on the SONET label which includes Wilson Pickett's version of "Baby Don't You Weep". The same tune as Fred Bridges and the unissued Luther Ingram. Here is an MP3 taken directly from the LP: https://www.shingaling.com/WilsonPickett-BabyDontYouWeep.mp3 The sleeve is in EX+ condition. The vinyl is in lovely, shiny EX+ condition. It costs £40 including airmail shipping everywhere. PM me if you're intersted. PayPal payment only. By the way, there are lots of other great tunes on the LP as well such as "That's Enough" by Roscoe Robinson, "Just One More Time" by J.J. Barnes, "Human" by Tommy Hunt and classics from Chuck Jackson, Otis Redding etc.
  20. Just out of interest, how can the current value of this record be more than roughly £225 (i.e. $450) when there are 7(!) M- copies of this 45 available as set-sale out on the open market at that very price?
  21. Sebastian replied to a post in a topic in Record Wants
I would say something more like this: CS = £125-£175 Fir-Ya = £50-£75 Both of these are seriously in-demand.
  22. And he has still got 7 copies in stock.
  23. M- copy for $135 here: https://www.recordsbymail.com/artistPage.ph...=DUPREE&s=S
  24. Thanks for the comments! I'm really glad you like the tunes.
