Price Advice Please
Manship has had this on his site for quite some time at £75. Now when I went over there again to see if he still had it, he has lowered the price to £50. Not an easy 45 to find and seems to be unknown to most people so unless you supply a sound clip with your listing chances are you won't sell it at all. Great tune in my opinion and I've sold two copies less than a year ago for £40 each.

One From The Back Of The Box
Great tune! I'd really like to have a copy of the 45 if anyone's got a copy up for grabs (if so, please contact me on fonzeus@telia.com ).

Wants
Yes, a couple of times. For example I got Randy & The Soul Citizens "Meet Me At The Pool" on Barry after I put it up as a want on one of the soul forums. Had been looking for it for a good couple of years.

Clear This Up For Us
Have seen a whole bunch of different designs for the Amazers 45. Below is a scan of my copy. All of them are originals as far as I know (still a £5-£10 disc so why bootleg it?). Great storming dancer.

Soul As Deep As You Like
Sorry, don't know anything about the musicians... But you're absolutely right. That's an utterly brilliant tune. Can't believe how I forgot it in my list above. It's such a blasting and primitive track. Love it!

Soul Duos
All three? They released at least nine or ten 45s on Charay. Some of them shared the same tunes, but still. Many of their Smash and Blue Rock recordings are also fabulous ("Soul Of A Man", "Just A Tear", "Gonna Give It To You", "Don't Put Me Down", "Sad World Without You" etc.). Plus they sang back-up on Willie Hobbs "Action" on Soft/Mercury.

Soul Duos
Ooohhh... Very nice indeed! Wouldn't mind a copy myself.

What Was The Earliest Soul Record
It's from 1963. And although I don't have the 45 right here, I'm pretty sure that "There He Is" is on the flip on my Sue copy of "Heartaches".

Del Larks
That's a bit pricey in my opinion.

What Was The Earliest Soul Record
Big Joe Turner's 45s on the Bluesway label were released in 1968/1969. An early tune that definitely should be sorted in the soul category is "My Tears" by Andre Williams from 1956 (or is it 1957?). It's the flip to "Jail Bait".

Soulful Slowies
Seconded. That Nina Simone version is one of my all-time faves. Clarence Carter's version is very nice as well.

Soul Duos
Apart from Pic & Bill (whose material I love to bits), I really, really like the stuff from The Carbo Brothers a.k.a. Hank & Claude Carbo a.k.a. Claude & Hank Carbo on several different labels. Also Simtec & Wylie are nice.

Soul As Deep As You Like
Totally agreed. The "Screamin'" part of his name surely makes sense! The flipside, "She's My Baby", is the top tune for me though. Got myself a reasonably priced copy a while back. Well chuffed.

Soul As Deep As You Like
I get some of my deep soul from there as well. As you wrote, to each their own etc.

The Great - Not The Merely Mediocre
Not that strange really, I think that "I Saw The Light" would've fit nicely onto "Tapestry". Todd was extremely influenced by artists like Carole King and Laura Nyro at that time (check out some of Laura's early albums if you haven't, she's got a very "special" voice, but those melodies!!!). Have you heard Todd's "We Gotta Get You A Woman" (let me know if you haven't and I'll send you a copy)? It's eerily similar to Carole King's song writing style. Absolutely awesome stuff!
