Ian Levine Productions And Songs
Ian firstly thankyou for the night at the Ion Bar, although I had to leave early I had a very enjoyable night and it is always a pleasure to see The Flirtations (still a great act) not that they were the only ones dishing it out. Secondly and I'm not sure this should be posted in this thread or the other, but having listened to lots of your productions over the years I would be interested in this: Many times I think that if I had a time machine I'd like to travel back in time to Detroit around about 1965, maybe to have a night at The Phelps Lounge or The Twenty Twenty Grand, Hustle around the studios Terra Shirma, Golden World, Hitsville even. If you had the chance to do this...and I know it's hyperthetical.....where would you have gone...who would you have worked with and how would you have arranged the productions. This is a guenuine question and has crossed my mind for a long time. Kev

Dreaming Of Northern Soul
I dream of Northern 45's on a regular basis. I wake up and realize they don't exist. But when I'm asleep I can picture the title artist label and sound. Strange phenomenon! Been doing this for years. Once I was walking through Brixton singing a made up song and I swear I sounded like Smokey Robinson. Just for that moment. Couldn't recapture it though. Strange world indeed. Kev

Frank Wilson - Do I Love You
- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
Anyone got a sound clip?- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
You wouldn't want to know. They don't even have Holland's pies down here. Then again I remember the first time I asked for a Steak Pudding in a Leeds chippie and got some very strange looks! Kev- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
No mate after Leeds I moved back to Burnley for a couple of years then in the words of Thatcher-I got on my bike and came to London. Been here ever since. Loved my time in Leeds used to hang about with Dave Ball of Soft Cell just B4 Tainted Love and Judy Street were covered by them. Kev- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
used to check out the Rock n Roll nights they used to have there upstairs. Full on Finger tip Jackets n Blue Suede Shoes n Shoe lace ties-Bobby socks full circle skirts n pony tails. Reminded me of borrowing our Dave's blue suede shoes and shoe lace tie to go to Sandygate Youth club discos in Burnley as a young teenager. Kev- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
Know the feeling around Leeds at that time. Lived in Chapeltown for a couple of years. The Yorkshire ripper years. Not nice. I can still remember being chased round the streets with mobs of women carrying lengths of 2x4 and baseball bats trying to reclaim the streets. heady days indead! Saying that as an art student from 80-83 in Leeds. graeat time overall. The reggae blues pubs were fine but the modern soul clubs. Phew! Kev- What Turned You On To Soul Music?
We went to The Gaiety in Leeds at the bottom of Roundhay rd in the early 80's. Got loads of harassment and spat at. Shame as the music sounded great.- Here's As Good A Place To Ask As Any
Also reminds me of sitting in the front room as a youngster and playing 78's of Alexander's Rag time Band and High Noon. .....oh don't forsake me oh my darlin.........' Kev- Here's As Good A Place To Ask As Any
Hey Beeks If I'da been in that r'n'b room I'd have wet my pants listening to that. Ida thought me mam had come back to life clutching her Jim Reeves n such. Kev- Label Scan Needed

I'd have thought most trainspotters would be huddled on platforms or hanging over bridges at that time. How come they didn't play Don Thomas or Gladys Knight?- Radio 5 Live
Geoff Buckley was a trainspotter and he likes Jack Montgomery. Always getting his notebook out to add numbers to his list. Maybe.....? Kev- Futurebeat Radio
