I believe the Coal Board sold all the Welfares off en-block when they were privatised to a company who's name has slipped my memory . You have to understand this is now prime building land , and as Ian(Alfretonsoulclub) will verify they want to close them , knock them down and sooner or later build build build as in the case of Leabrooks Welfare in Derbyshire . A number of soulnights were held there. This company don't really give two shits about soul music or enterainment. To be honest most are shit tips anyway . Never mind the cigarettes or stale beer. Dave , Shobnal is excellent , Bentinck has two rooms .One is quality oldies with a smattering of 70's , and then there is the back room , a small (very small) packed out room playing brilliant array (s'cuse the pun Ray) of 70's . Sorry , just can't get my head round this , same old DJ'S playing same old music to the same old punters , who all meet up twice every weekend hugging , kissing and shaking hands like they have not seen each other for 20 yrs . It is so predictable and the EM is in danger of isolating it's self from the rest of the counrty. There are a lot of knowledgable DJ'S and punters in the EM , all you have to do is expand your mind and listen to what is being played elsewhere . There is no room for anymore venues and no room for ''promoters'' who think they can run a venue. I ask myself these questions quite often 1) Why do these venues NEVER publish playlists 2) Could these promoters jump in and do a ''spot'' if they got let down To put it in a nut shell NO more venues , there ain't anythig new to offer out there. It's all being played around the counrty . Even in Notts and Derbys if you only cared to look

To be honest , if you ever got skanked on here it would soon be out in the open , most sellers and buyer rely on there reputation so , like I say all it would take is a name and some proof . luckily I have not had to resort to such actions and Ihave bought items of various sellers , some old members some new members.
