  1. Fascinating read... as a punter, you never realised, or worried, who ran this or promoted that. Ken Cox had his finger in some pies during those days, straight in to Peterboro when St ives closed. i used to buy records off him, Casterton Rd, Stamford i seem to recall. Fleet, Cresset, Wirrina, we went to em all, never any bother , apart from a bomb scare (Eddie Holman & Jnr Walker)..... St Ives was another story
  2. it's like any venue from 40 years ago, big records were nationwide, after being 'broke' at one. st ives to me, has certain stand out records... Eddie Reagan, billy prophet, susan coleman etc... all wigan biggies im sure, but when you only ventured 'close go home' I suppose they evoke memories of certain venues ?
  3. Outsiders, JC Messina, Kelly St Claire , Gerri Thomas, Harry Betts, John Hendley, Barnaby Bye, Frankie Crocker, Three Degrees (Contact), The Apollas , Billy Purcell, Bobby Diamond, KIki Dee, + lots more, all massive records at T'palais .. love em or hate em, they were a part of the scene in those days, still very vivid to this day
  4. I still remember MK shouting from the steps and then whilst walking the queue checking us all out .. BIG and fond memories of the venue I cut my teeth in. never missed a soul do there, from feb 78, until 83 (then the bank hol sunday nights , late 90's)
  5. Bobby Goldsboro, , Aquamen, Helen Shapiro , Bobby Paris, all part of the 'scene' play a Soul record the world goes crazy 😐.... Give me Jimmy James anyday
  6. Adams Apples always reminds me of Nottingham. but you're right, a forgotten monster
  7. Will Collins, main room heaven.

  9. Blimey ! not heard this for 40 years
  10. I clearly remember Tim Tam Being played in Nottingham , early/mid 78. The DJ Actually announced it as ' Frankie Valli & the Beach Boys' 🤣. it had a revival a few years ago, North Notts/east mids area, a floor filler every time. I still have a UK ISLAND issue, but fear not, i dont play it out

  16. The Poet album wasnt released until 84, so i very much doubt it was a station rd spin.....
