  1. remember Sam playing this at Nottm Palais and hearing it at Stafford a bit later. Always sounded messy to me. to this day its not one of my faves. Vocals too overpowering , not enough of the backing track apart from the keyboard riff. having said that, i enjoyed the youtube link of them doing it live. very nice, probably better than the original recording in my opinion
  2. I remember another scary place Sitting outside in the car waiting to go into the Mousetrap all-nighter at Finsbury Park, we heard two gunshots & then saw a police van pull up next to us, then the police jumped out & ran into a store up the road & dragged some chap out onto the street floor Debbie x
  3. Found a couple of my old membership cards from London, when i was a young, i mean when i was a younger girl We used to get charged £20 to park in the car park for scenesville, but it was worth it, always a superb night with a cracking bunch of very good friends! Debbie x
  4. oh yes. The Orlons too. bloody hell my memory is shockin, it was only about 8 yrs ago too
  5. thanks for that. I do remember a lot of youngsters (nothing wrong with that of course) attending. was a huge place with a seperate room nearby for different moozik. i also saw some bloke/singer from the 5 stairsteps?? sing live one night. but the most memorable thing for me was actually being able to park right outside on the road (A1) and going in to an 'all night' shop next door . i'd never seen a shop open after 10pm before
  6. heres a couple of scans i just did. had a browse through a few boxes etc and come up with these. Casino membership card is at Debbies (on record player) so i cant include that what happened to the Rocket niters? also , anyone know where the 'all nighter club' cards were valid? Supertune, sorry for 'stealing' one of your photo's .... But i've spotted myself on it stage, just infront of backing singers mic stand, at 4 o'clock to the guy in the red vest (hands in air). I had a thin moustache and a lot more hair .

  20. The only thing i did think of................................... Perhaps like many other scenes or apprreciation societies, Northern Soul might be discovered & revived in 80 or more years time Thats what happened in the early 20s, they discovered chamber music & had Victorian evenings in vintage dress And even now with the 40s & 50s scene, they have 40s reanactment weekends & rock n roll weekenders. Sorry, im looking at this from a Historian's point of view as usual Debbie x
