tell ya what...... i persuaded my pop band to have a go at something different for a change, we came up with 'The Snake', had a couple of shots at it (2 guitars, drums , bass and 3 vocals).... worked a treat 2 weddings and 3 pub gigs later, without a doubt the most popular song of the evening!
  2. as a drummer myelf, i feel a little more sadness over this dreadful news. i watch 'standing in the shadows' quite often, to see Richard Allen and Uriel Jones play in unison is an absolute joy to watch. i hope he rests in peace, along with his fellow Brothers
  3. Damn I'm looking forward to this ...... gonna break out the retro clothing too!!
  4. ahhh, the 'Wigan at Cleethorpes' patch. my girlfriend has the very one on her addidas bag, along with the easter egg shaped wigan casino all dayer patch. also the pendulum printed patch.... she has some bloody rare ones. as for personal patches, i sold my casino ones last year, left me with just a few goodies from the midlands/east anglian scene

I've been asked to do a spot at a local night (soon). I have at my disposal some originals, some boots and a couple of 'carves', classics, underplayed and early transitional tunes . are you all telling me that i can only play the originals ?? idiots all of you that say i should !! if i play a CD i dont really think the punters will come up (as proven) and give me an ear holing because of it. Snobs is a fitting word, music first, format second . the thread title pretty much sums it up

  11. I do believe Roy Boogie still has that single, he bought it 30 yrs ago (roughly) off Andy Capes. I remember him giving the pricely sum of £100 for the whole collection!
  12. Little Anthony, Ruby Andrews, the Falcons ?? who cares? im going for the reunion, the music, the Dancing and the event. Little Anthony appeals to me over the others so as far as im concerned , its a bonus ! SEE YA THERE

  18. say hello to Webby (originally from my home town) for me. not seen him since skeg weekender 2 yrs ago. we miss him here, time he made the trip again!! as for the original subject, i made a comment about Nuneaton having some 'chavs/pissheads' etc and got kinda jumped on by other thread posters. there were literally dozens of them in there being a pain on the dancefloor. same at the right track, p'boro on friday, there was a gang of em. again, nothing done. lets hope things are sorted, Nuneaton was a great venue, keep it that way.
  19. very sad. i visited that place only once, in 1980. actually went upstairs to see the highland room but unfortunately there was nothing going on at that time. many tears will be shed im sure
  20. Run Run Run is still played in my car, great tune, fabulous vocals. anyway, going back to the thread, im sure the world will be watching
