  1. OK mate There's no PM come through as yet. I'll PM you so you can respond Andy
  2. Here's an obscure blue-eyed feel good tune out of Missouri on what looks like a private pressing. Seems a DIY job from label owner Joe Keene. JM has it listed at £75 (see blurb in YT clip) The copy I have is in Ex condition with only a small number '20' stamped on the label at ....£35 Post 2.00 UK first, 3.50 recorded and 5.00. Payment as F&F or add 4% if you prefer. PM for questions or to order Thanks Andy
  3. Deleted.
  4. All these 45's are old store stock and are very probably unplayed. These are the last copies I have. YT clips are for reference and all sales are 100% guaranteed with full refund if not happy. P&P is £2 first, £3.5 recorded and £5.00 worldwide airmail. Paypal by F&F please or add 4% Any questions or to order please PM. Thanks Andy ++++++++++ The Diplomats are one of those groups that we seem to forget despite recording for a number of labels including Wand, Minit, Arock, Fat Back etc. For me one of their best was cut for Dynamo and is fast becoming a want for group collectors with a copy going through Ebay at over £60 recently, but here its on offer as a mint unplayed copy at £30 The Diplomats – I got the kind of love – Dynamo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPflGGQJedA ++++++++++ If you were asked for a record which has a killer slowie on one side and a great NS track on the other, for under twenty quid is there anything better around than this Chicago goodie and a mint unplayed copy for £15 ( on JM's at £30) COD’s – I’m a good guy / Pretty baby – Kellmac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hVKp0DdZ6g https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u94oXkbc8S8 +++++++++++++++++++ Sticking with Chicago and another fine group is the Esquires and every one of their 45’s is a necessity. Here we have two different, but quality mid-tempo sides in unplayed condition. 'Why' gives us more of the harmony and 'Feelings' a catchy little ditty, again for the princely sum of £12. Esquires – Why can’t I stop / The feelings gone – Bunky https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apvXQKSi3yo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1uWvedaGn0 ++++++++++++++++++ The Impressions need no introduction. Everyone of their 45's should be the foundation of any collection. A couple of years ago their magic crossover outing 'Love Me' surfaced on Ebay via a store find, but these were the Promo copies. Amazingly the Promo's were a different mix and vocals to the issued copy, and dare I say it, a bit more earthy and better. I've got one more copy from the finder and once its gone its gone, grab it at... £30. Impressions - Love me - Curtom promo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OX0mfT_FL3c +++++++++++++++++++++++++ Philip Mitchell is an artist with many fine tunes to his name and this one is no different. A laid back slice of southern crossover, vocally effortless and in mint store stock condition at a bargain... £15. (£25 on JM's) Philip Mitchell - Oh how I love you - Hi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhP9bL9MkK0 ++++++++++++++ Johnny Bristol cut many a fine tune, and whilst the focus seems to be on his 'Handshake' outing many of his others slip under the radar. Most notably for me is this track cut for Atlantic which deserves a wider audience. His usual smooth silky vocals soar over a catchy mid-tempo groove is just right for today. Here's a lovely white promo for the princely sum of...£20 Johnny Bristol - Waiting on love - Atlantic WLP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-OiRHoPFQw ++++++++++++++ OK so this modern stepper is finally getting the recognition it deserves, and being spun by numerous name DJ's on the lock down scene including Mick H. There is one for sale on Discogs at £35 and prices continue to rise on Ebay, the last one I saw going up close to $50 (plus $15 post and 20% tax of course !!). A bonus is the nice crossover flavoured modern uptempo track on the flip. Here's a mint unplayed store stock copy.......£25 Delegation - Oh Honey / Take me to the sun - Shadybrook https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbMzoSVKp1Q +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
  5. I bought a couple of copies of this soulful reggae harmony tune and will pop one into the sales section later today. My copy is on the Impact label and a nice Ex condition. Anything by Noel Bailey floats my boat. Andy Mac
  6. I'm gonna go with one of his earlier efforts which I got around 18 months ago
  7. Another good day at the Chesterfield fair last Sunday. Around 40 or so dealers. Plenty of soul 45's and albums for sale. Lots of collectors there who are on SS. Sean Hampsey and Kevin Briscoe from the 'Diggin Deep' team had a stall with everything from reissues to 500 quid rarities and in demand tunes. Derek Pearson also there. Snatched a video off the AA record Fairs site, look out for a glimpse of the Diggin Deep stall at around 38 secs. https://www.facebook.com/aarecordfairs/videos/2979428285667793/ Next one is 18th July with an approx KO at 9.00am. Just fyi - I do not have any involvement in this event. Andy
  8. There's US grading and UK grading. Very different in my experience.
  9. I used to buy, sell and swap in his early days before the 'Carolina Soul' name and I can say that his 45's are very strictly graded. His VG would be NM for us. Not sure about consignment being open to abuse, but I guess people could bid up there own 45's if they wanted. I'm about to send him a couple of obscure synth boogie things as I haven't a clue where to sell them here and he obviously has collectors who look for different types of records, so probably the best route for me.
  10. A classic modern tune from Alicia Myers. The vinyl is nice and shiny with one feint radial surface mark which does not affect play at all. Labels are clean, sound quality excellent, in its company sleeve with jukebox tag thrown in. Overall grading would be Ex- (purely because of the feint mark) Alicia Myers - I wanna thank you - MCA £25 Paypal payment please as F&F or add 4% Post 2.00 first, 3.50 recorded and 5.00 worldwide. Any question or to order PM please ATB Andy

The flip has seen action in the crossover rooms, but the slowie is the best for me. I'll grade this at Ex+ The final Seconds - Lost on a highway - Boo Koo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7B1KfxXrgI +++++++++++++ Payment 2.00 first, 3.50 recorded, 5.00 worldwide Paypal as F&F or add 4 % Thanks Andy
  12. The above monthly event takes place this month on the Sunday 20th June at the open air market in Market Square. Market Square is right in the town center either side of the market hall, and there's plenty of parking around within 5 minutes walk. Normally 30-40 dealers with plenty of soul 45 and albums for sale. Usually very busy with collectors travelling from across the UK. Some video from the last event from AA Record Fairs Facebook site https://www.facebook.com/aarecordfairs/videos/vb.103349294451460/175524164465406/?type=2&theater https://www.facebook.com/aarecordfairs/videos/vb.103349294451460/778672736176802/?type=2&theater Its run by AA Record Fairs if sellers want to get a sales pitch - AA Record Fairs Andy 0758 7103047. I have no personal involvement with this company or event I'm just putting it up for those who may be interested in attending or selling.

  14. Hi Some old store stock in unplayed condition from the basement again for your interest. 1. If you were asked for a record which has a great up-tempo northern tune on one side and a killer slowie on the other, for under twenty quid is there anything better around than this Chicago goodie and a mint unplayed copy for £15 COD’s – I’m a good guy / Pretty baby – Kellmac https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u94oXkbc8S8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hVKp0DdZ6g 2. 15. There is no legal requirement to wear a mask outdoors in the UK and the chance of catching COVID outdoors is practically nil. Also we have administered close to 60 million shots of vaccine including first and second jabs.
  16. Here's some footage from the last Chesterfield event. This is not my footage but from the AA Record Fair Facebook site. Hopefully it gives a flavour. https://www.facebook.com/aarecordfairs/videos/vb.103349294451460/175524164465406/?type=2&theater https://www.facebook.com/aarecordfairs/videos/vb.103349294451460/778672736176802/?type=2&theater Next event is 20th June...I think Andy
  17. Really enjoying these sets Andy Mac
  18. Had one many years ago which I ordered from Craig Moorer. After 1 month no delivery so I contacted him and he checked everything and confirmed my address was correct etc. Fast forward 8 months and there is a knock at the door and the postie is holding the familiar brown cardboard box which he handed over. I had no idea what it was as I had no records on order at the time. On it was Craig's label but the box was absolutely covered in stamps and stickers from various countries which included US, Malaysia, Japan, Russia and a host of other countries between the UK and APAC. The box was fully in tact and all the 45's were in place and no damage. I thought they's gone forever.
  19. At previous ones there was myself, Mick Brown, Chalky, Mace, Derek Pearson, Parkypine (Wayne), Simon Hunt plus others that I know are on here but can't recall their ID's.
  20. Yep. There's usually a good few Soul-Source members at the Chesterfield fair, both selling and buying.
  21. The above monthly event takes place this month on the Sunday 25th April at the open air market in Market Square. Market Square is right in the town center either side of the market hall, and there's plenty of parking around within 5 minutes walk. Normally 30-40 dealers with plenty of soul 45 and albums for sale. Usually very busy with collectors travelling from across the UK. I'm told it will share the market place with the Asian food fair, so grab a 45 and a Ruby Murray at the same time. Its run by AA Record Fairs if sellers want to get a sales pitch - AA Record Fairs Andy 0758 7103047. 22. I think the story is that Numero pressed it for one of the promotional events (as they did with the Outa-Sights) something to do with Japan I read. Then Dave Thorley asked them for any spare copies and sold them over here. It does go for a tidy sum if you can get one. Bit of a tune tho'
  23. So, to round this up. I have been in email dialogue with Ebay's shipping dept. because its they who work with Ebay's shipping and tax collecting service. It outsourced to a company called Pitney Bowes or something like that. Anyway I asked why they added 28% tax on what should have been 20%. Apparently its to cover the fees charged by their outsourced service so its VAT + Fee's to Pitney Bowes, hence 28%. The surprising thing was at the end of each email, they said that I could, before paying the invoice, contact the seller and ask them to ship outside of Ebay's program and therefore they would not be able to collect tax. This took me back a little as they normally push people towards their services. Anyway, suggest if you intend to bid on a high value item ask the seller beforehand if they can work outside on any Ebay shipping or invoicing.
  24. It was clearly an Indian back office support operation who seemed to have no knowledge or authority to speak on behalf of Ebay, despite being Ebay's office / representatives.
  25. Another Ebay rip off I think.... I won an item yesterday and I expected the 20% VAT to be added. However when I went to pay the import tax figure was 28% of the combined value of item and shipping. Eh ? So I contacted Ebay this morning and asked what is going on and pointed out that UK VAT was 20%. I was passed from person to person and asked to wait for answers and on hold for 10 to 15 minutes each time, and finally after 45 minutes they told me they would have to raise it up to other people so I gave up. This current incarnation of Ebay is a far cry from the one I joined 20+ years ago.
