  2. As described by Mellorful: "Bootlegged twice ..first white/green label. then fake look a like counterfeit, complete with drillhole. Although its in 3 colours. Label print quality is poor. its light blue background as apposed to asea green background. But the counterfeiters got matrix wrong when they scratched a - in between 203 a. Original has no dash". Look for the absence of a dash..... From Dean: look a like boot has D203-B If your copy has the attributes in bold its same as mine and the look -a-like boot.
  3. Thanks all Confirmed its a light blue label D 203 - B boot. I though it was a wrong 'un on first viewing.
  4. A picture and the differences between the two would be helpful. I bought probably late 70's and its been in the storage box for 25 years. Its just that I'm going to sell it (not my thing) and didnt want to sell it as orig if it isnt. Ta
  5. Yep just as I thought. Found a copy in an old box on a Diamond issue, but it didnt quite look right against other Diamond label stuff I have. Label is a bit paler and the lettering is not as crisp as you would expect. Anything else definite which confirms its a looky likey ? Manship has a "repro" on a Diamond WD
  6. Can anyone confirm if "Once" was booted on a Diamond label issue ? I know it was booted on a Diamond WD. Ta
  7. There was a thread on this very same thing on Soulful Detroit many years ago. There are many groups called the Blenders and there were two or three incarnations in Chicago recording on Chicago labels. As I said on the 'Salvadors thread' a few months back, the 60's music scene, particularly in regards to small independant labels, was somewhat choatic with group members interchanging, producers, writers and engineers moving from label to label and studio to studio and band members "moonlighting" in other bands. As Dave stated above there are connections identified already. But my guess would also be that there are common members to each group (not necessarily at the same time), a splinter group, or that perhaps they were in some 'band competition', which were fairly common at the time and they made reference to another group which either they liked or they beat. I have another record which also mentions another group in the lyrics, but I'm buggered if I can remeber what it is.
  8. I think Soul Bowl took the entire quantity when released and sold them for a few quid.
  9. I have a Val Shively catalogue from 1974. Most of the rare soul stuff in the $1 to $2 dollar bracket. Now those prices would be nice
  10. Thats it Chalky. I knew he did an LP around that time but couldn't remember what he put on it. Now you say Motown it comes flooding back. I'm sure I bought one of the LP's and sold it shortly aftwards.....ggggrrrrr !! Drew
  11. I used to go to Rob's soul night in Mansfield and this was his standard playlist. From memory he (or someone around him) did some sort of LP with some of these tunes on. It was a plain label thing I'm sure. Perhaps someone can confirm ? Also I have a copy of Malcolm Dodds on Paramount from Robs tape if anyone is interested @ £5....bargin
  12. PM Franc on here as 'Cobbles' he used to have a few copies, as I got mine from him. Andy
  13. Billy Jo Jim Bob replied to a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
Its a very "low-fi" recording anyway. I sold mine as I couldn't be doing with that, but from memory there was no background noise. I've had mint looking records which did this and its usually down to something like poor storage where the vinyl has deteriorated.

  17. If you are after the " Something worthwhile" track from the album, its been released as a 45 by Daptone recently. There are some other nice tunes on the album also. Andy
  18. Thanks guys. I told you my memory was failing .....
  19. Chaps My dismally failing memory tells me that KW was booted in the 70's on a look-a-like boot. Anyone give me the quick differences with the orig. ? Ta Andy
  20. 'Mark Nine Music' Produced by Arvey Andrews, written by D Saunders and M Otis, arranged and conducted by Arthur Wright. 'A Vardan - Gate Production' I dont know if this links in ? Andy
  21. It was released on Gate 501 but its the Philips 45 i.e. the good slowie flip is missing.
  22. I think the Philips release doesn't have the nice flip if I recall. So if you want the slower group tune then the Vardan release is the one.
