Is This Bloke Gonna Ever Sell This Record
yep, I managed to locate Fried Chicken - Funky DJ after typing that, haven't come across any others, maybe I only have a couple of earnest Jacksons, the Otis Redding & Fried Chicken (thought I had 1 or 2 more though.... maybe not).

where did you get the March 1967 date from? That places it after the version on the "Wicked Pickett" LP which is from 1966. I'd love to know the absolute correct chronological lineage of the song.... is it something like this?? Billy Young mid 1966 (the original?) Barbara Lynn late 1966 Wilson Pickett late 1966 Otis Redding 1966 or 1967 James & Bobby Purify 1967 Maurice & Mac 1968 Sam & Dave 1969

I think the records in the book are a pretty vague list, James Brown on King, Elvis & Beatles fan club 45s, Sex Pistols. The ones in the movie are definitely US, which makes sense with the setting of the film.

The Gospel Truth - New Cd From Ace/bgp
yeah, that whole Sons Of Truth LP is a great gateway LP into the world of gospel from a soul/funk fans perspective. Still relatively cheap too, if it was on some small unknown label it would blow more minds for sure.

I can't see ebay links at work but from the High Fidelity reference I figure you're talking about the Otis Redding 45 on Stone? A few dealers I know in the US have/had unplayed stock of this. I got a couple from Bob Blalock in Georgia. I really like the 45 & it is definitely filed in my collection. I really like to have "You left The Water Running" on 45 & the Otis Jam is fun too. They made it out to be some sort of rarity in High Fidelity (which it clearly isn't), probably through reading Dave Marsh's book, but the other stuff he mentions in the book (& what is shown in that deleted scene from the movie) is similar in perceived rarity from memory. Interesting 45.

awesome, thanks

Soul/garage 45S From Greenville Mississippi
updated here: Lynn's Productions etc things just got a lot messier as I started with the earlier New Orleans connections, if anyone can add more titles please let me know.

Fort Worth Texas
You may have been a bit unlucky. But I'll agree that if you're narrowed to hunting just rare northern then you may not be getting the most out of ARC. I do very well hunting clean, quality funk, soul, gospel, blues, R&B, jazz & low/mid range northern 45s. Rare northern has probably gone to ebay though prior to the guys setting up at ARC. Plus a lot of heavy deals are made the night before the fair starts. A great fair, but not really the place to steal rare stuff for super cheap, more the convenience of lots of titles in one location instead of having to drive around the south.

Halo On Marshall (Ex To Nm)
yeah, but a couple days prior to that a mint one went unsold at $51 (albeit from a less reputable seller). Anyone's guess.

Fort Worth Texas
I'm a bit annoyed I can't make ARC this year, I'd planned it in loosely, but work doesn't match up, so I bought a new car instead maybe next year again......

Sound Exchange is really the only one of note in Houston. For a city of it's size it is weird that Houston doesn't have better record stores. The guy that runs Forever Young is a big Bob Dylan collector if you can rustle up any stuff to trade. Best store in Fort Worth is Doc's Records & Vintage at 2111 Montgomery St. Dallas has a couple of spots, I've done well out of the big main Half Price Books on the East Northwest Highway. Austin is the best city for stores in Texas, that place is sweet, but if you're an ARC regular you'll probably know all those

I believe these places are both gone now.

Boddie 3 X 7" Box
i like how the acetate version of "That New Girl" turns it into a slightly faster & bouncier dancer.
-
Boddie 3 X 7" Box
yes, the unknown (mistitled) Boddie Acetate & Village Callers are both covering "When You're Gone" by Brenda & the Tabulations as stated in the liner notes for the box. Great song.

James K-Nine "counting Tear Drops" On Hot Hit/federal
yeah, fixed the post to say what I really meant it to say in the first place, thanks

James K-Nine "counting Tear Drops" On Hot Hit/federal
Does anyone know if "Counting Tear Drops" is a cover of an earlier record? The songwriting/publishers credit relates it to the Reginald family of labels out of Greenville, MS & I'm interested to know if it was picked up for the Hot Hit/Federal 45 of a writers demo submission or covered from an existing 45 from the Reginald family of labels.

Boddie 3 X 7" Box
yes, this is great, it cam in the post a few weeks ago & like all Numero releases, this is top notch musical archaeology

Help Needed! Any Blue Note Jazz Experts Out There?
yeah probably something like that. I had some Blue Note LP a while back that had a 61st St Label on one side & a New York label on the other. Cool but not really changing the value.
-
Help Needed! Any Blue Note Jazz Experts Out There?
this is not out of the ordinary for this LP. it was released at the transition between 63rd/61st St adresses.
