Amy, Mala Bell
Was Bell always part of Columbia or did a buy out by "the man" occur sometime in the late 60s?

Bob And Earl - Harlem Shuffle
Does anyone have the White Whale 45? Is that fast or slow?

Bob And Earl - Harlem Shuffle
things got confusing when people started posting up about the original slow version & it's many releases

Bob And Earl - Harlem Shuffle
This thread has got pretty confusing. So is there a Ranwood 45 of the faster version of Harlem Shuffle or is the Trip 45 it?
-
Bob And Earl - Harlem Shuffle
I have never actually seen it on Trip before, good to know the uptempo version is available in 7" on both Trip & JayBoy though

Amy, Mala Bell
I have a bunch on these labels, this is a start, just the ones still lurking on my computer, I'd have to dig out & take pics of the rest, but that would take ages

Excello Pressings
you probably did, there are probably other boots of that record besides the one I'm thinking of (I think it was a white Ichiban label).

Excello Pressings
i didn't look at both sides, I'll have a look later & see if I have any without the "R" on the flip. I think the colours are just down to inks/pressing plants because I'm fairly sure later represses used whatever label design was current. I don't know what the bootleg status of the label is sorry, I know the Charles Sheffield was booted on a totally different looking label which is very obvious.

Record Shopping And Clubs/bars In New York
ok, don't waste your time on those other stores, seriously The Thing is horrible & you'll probably catch more respiratory diseases than actual good records there. Good luck with Bleeker Bob's too. Actually Infinity & Rhythm are ok, but a bit tricky to find/out of the way if you're touristy on Manhattan, the ones below are all relatively easy to hit in Manhattan & will yield good stuff. I really recommend both Good & Academy, good stuff can be found quickly at both these stores & you can get back on track with sightseeing asap. essentially the only record stores you need to get to are: Good Records Get Directions (212) 539-0208 * approximate times Subway: Get Directions (212) 477-8150 Store Hours: Mon.-Fri.: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday: 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday: 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Closest Subway Stops: 6: Astor Place or Bleecker N/R: 8th Street F/V: Broadway/Lafayette A-1 (212) 473-2870 439 E 6TH St New York, NY 10009 Also try to do this TOUR THE APOLLO Apollo historic tours connect the past, the present and to the future of our legendary venue, revealing the significant contributions of African-Americans and Latinos to the birth of global popular culture. Scratchy
i play this at soul, mod, rockabilly & funk gigs from time to time, it goes down pretty well everywhere. I love it, the drums are bananas. One of those records which can sit kind of well in a lot of scenes but not perfectly in any if that makes sense.

Excello Pressings
are you talking about the red "banner" label? All the ones I have on that have the "R". I know the red label comes before but then I'm not sure if the white with blue banner or white with arrows comes next, later on is the all blue label.

Is This Little Richard 45 An Australian Press?
thanks guys, just hadn't seen this label before, I have earlier local ones on London & thought this may have been some later anomaly after that deal ended. But now that you guys mention it, the label & press are pretty consistent with other UK things I have from the late 60s/early 70s (President etc)

- Benny Spellman - Fortune Teller - London - 45 Rpm
definitely not heard out so much at soul nights, but crops up at mod nights every now & then.- Singers Who Mention There Own Name In Their Song
for anyone who doesn't know it already, it's on youtube here: fun stuff- A Solid Vg++
The world became a lot less stressful when I decided to never buy another VG+ graded record again, ever. VG++, EX, EX+, NM-, NM, M- are all I'm after, makes things a lot more cut & dry. The fact is that that clip embodies VG+ to many out there.- Found Any 45's With Your Name On Them?
haven't found any with my name on them, but every now & then I'll google the name of a previous owner & flick them an email to see if it's the same person (has to be a pretty unique name of course, John Smith won't cut it). I've had a few replies back that were positive & managed to get stories about how records left their possession. Pretty cool when it works out.- Sue (U.k.)

watch out Mike, I got flung abuse at for pointing out the same thing earlier, some people don't like to be told - Benny Spellman - Fortune Teller - London - 45 Rpm
