  1. Genuinely rich people know no depression or recession.
  2. One of the early New Zealand Stateside released Motown 45s I have is by "Martha & the Vandells"
  3. OK, let's dead this part of the game because I really don't think it is possible. Let's move on to artists (which we couldn't agree on even that at the first place we did this game). Will anyone admit to owning no James Brown, Solomon Burke or Jerry Butler 45s?
  4. So after all that, it's back to Fontella Bass - Rescue Me...
  5. Mary Wells My guy Fontella Bass - Rescue Me Booker T - Time Is Tight (stax)
  6. Stevie Wonder Uptight Mary Wells My guy Fontella Bass - Rescue Me Booker T - Time Is Tight
  7. It's tough to remember what's been done. On the oldies tip, how about: Fontella Bass - Rescue Me Booker T - Time Is Tight
  8. I thought my real name might be a bit more personable.
  9. I'm pretty much 100% that the jackie Wilson & Edwin Starr were eliminated on the the first few pages. The Stevie Wonder is a longshot considering some people's aversion to Motown on 45, but see how it goes?
  10. Chess definitely had a fairly stable rhythm section pool of players who they used during the Billy Davis era (62 to 68), their horn sections however were more a case of whoever, there was little stability there. As far as I've been able to establish it is very hard to confirm exactly who plays on what, I can't find any written reference to the funk bros playing on any particular Chess 45s, but with the Billy Davis connection it's not impossible as they are known for sure to have played other Chicago sessions for Brunswick etc. Also they had a lot of stuff on Chess through their St Louis (Oliver Sain etc) & DC (Billy Stewart, Knight Bros) etc connections which were recorded out of town, not to mention the Muscle Shoals stuff too. With Tony Clarke's Detroit connection he may well have used funk bros, Valentinos may just be their road band, who knows for sure?
  11. Active at the moment: 1-2-3 Len Barry San Remo Golden Strings - Hungry For Love
  12. No Precisions here, so just down to Jr Walker "Shotgun"
  13. Shoot, I feel bad for creating this monster now. Do you reckon we'll find one? Or do you want to drop to common artists?
  14. No No No Crikey, what else is common but good enough to appeal to lots of people? It's getting tougher & tougher. We might have to stoop to a common artist soon OK, what about: Billy Stewart "Summertime" Johnnie Taylor "Who's making Love" Bobby Hebb "Sunny" I'll check back tomorrow, goodnight.
  15. Hey Ed, I've got you on this. I'll try to get this LP in the mail to you later this week. I'm listening to it now actually, damn good R&B vocal group LP. Take Care Kris
  16. I have none of these Back to the drawing board, I haven't been able to officiate because I was sleeping & now & am at work. It's going well though. Apart from the fact we can't find a common 45 yet You guys have definitely got the hang of the game. How about: Parliaments - I Wanna Testify Freda Payne - Band Of Gold Peoples Choice - I Likes To Do It
  17. if it is a gentle warp that doesn't affect play then it shouldn't affect value. IMO.
  18. You absolutely have to be thinking generic for it to work, ie. think of a 45 that should appeal to most regardless of it being northern or standard. From what I can work out, the still active ones are: Showstoppers - Houseparty Bettye Swann - Make Me Yours Contours - Misunderstanding how about Barbara Acklin - Am I The Same Girl?
  19. ok, to tidy things up, just reply to the ones you don't have & if someone else has already crossed it off, you don't have to. obviously you have to have a ok sized collection to play (whoever said they only own 1 45 is possibly not helping...). I'll have to go through the posts I missed today to try & decipher what 45s are still active & what is out. ps. I did go on ebay out of interest to search that Spyder Turner but couldn't find any....... maybe it isn't as common as it once was (or I screwed up the search)... :-)
  20. Edwin Starr - Time Impressions - You've been cheatin Impressions - Can't satisfy CODs - Michael Formations - At The Top Of The Stairs Willie Mitchell - The Champion Troy Dodds - Try My Love So at the moment we are waiting on: Jackie Wilson - The Sweetest Feeling Edwin Starr - Agent Double O Soul Edwin Starr - Stop Her On Sight/I Have Faith In You
  21. Yeah, it sounds like an easy task at first but I think it must be impossible, fun to try though, definite time-eater.
  22. So who doesn't own Jackie Wilson "Sweetest Feeling"?
