  2. I've just tried to buy a number off records off a 'member' on here and what a ball ache. ................. Best to stick to local dealers you know, trust and love then mate....!! Chris
  3. Shifty sold a record to Burt Bacharach a couple of years ago. Old Burt phoned him up to order it too...how cool is that! Chris
  4. We all make mistakes in pricing records, as a dealer you know when you have done this because you get 10 orders for the same record in the first half an hour! I do one almost every other list, the last one was Clousel on my last list at £50...but i have to smile because although I could have got more i`m still making money on it and that was the price i put it out at. To be honest making an error really doesn`t bother me too much...at least it means people will read my list thoroughly in the future rather than it being just a list of Manship price guide stuff you often see listed...keeps the list interesting too. Sometimes I have made a maistake when i think i have 2 copies and sell them both, only to find one is not in such good shape, this is just an honest mistake and i`m nothing less than apologetic to the buyer....agreed i should be more thorough but i admit it is a genuine error. However, such as in this case, when a deal is done, its done...and nothing , not even getting a better offer should change that. This dealer wont be in business long if he treats his customers with such disrespect. Chris
  5. Cheers Guys...Some new ones in there for me...as has been said I dont think James was involved in a poor record! Baz, thanks for doing the compilation mate, much appreciated. Must say i had forgotten all about "Goddess of love".....I think i have joint faves by James now! Chris
  6. I have put together a sales CD of LP tracks from LPs I have for sale. The CD contains 46 samples of tracks from original LPs, both 60s and 70s/crossover. There are no mega rarities, just some great tracks that are often overlooked by the 45 only mob! The LPs are mainly in the 10 to £30 price range I will send the Cds out free of charge to anyone who is interested in buying Lps...This stuff may be useful for DJs looking for something different to play, there are some wonderful tracks included. Please note, the CD has samples only, about 1.5 min of each track. Anyone who is interested please email me at chris.soul@btinternet.com and include your email address and your postal address. No PMs please. Cheers, Chris

  8. Was just playing "Love at first sight", not played it in ages but made me realise how much i love this guys voice. Love the bit at 1.33 when he sings "Love had taken me by suprise"! Just wonderd what were your faves either as a solo artist or as lead singer of the Fantastic Four? sweet james epps - love at first sight - Chris
  9. I found my copy in a place called Olympic which is in Washington state in the late 90s....a very unusual place to find a Chicago record. I payed $1.00 for it, had no idea of the value/rarity at the time, i just bought it because i had heard it on a tape the week before and i quite liked it! I did find another copy in Chicago in 2003, cracked but played ok. I gave this copy to my old mate John Weston as i knew he had been looking for a copy for years. Chris.
  10. Still got some available.... Just email me... Chris

  15. Great price for a great record Steve! Chris.
  16. The difference between something like that and this contentious, alleged 6 By 6 vocal is that your Eddie Holland exists and 6 By 6 probably does not, despite people's assertions that they know a man who knows a man who knows a man who walked by a man who bought a pint for a man who went to school with a man who cleans the windows for a man who ran over a man who did a favour for a man who may or may not own a legitimate acetate of 6 By 6. ............... Tony, exactly what is it about this 6x6 vocal track owned by John Pugh that makes you doubt its existance, even though loads of people on here have seen and heard it? Is it simply because you haven`t heard of it before or is there another specific reason you doubt its existance? Agree with you re the quality of the CD though, also i think you are right about people betting blase about new material, imagine how we would have felt about a CD of "new" motown stuff ten years ago! Chris

  18. I visited Odell Bailey a few years ago. We went into his basement where he kept saying "This is where i live, this is my domain"...he was a good guy, had a great chat with him. Also had a Emanual Laskey on DT and the Millage 45 off him...plus a few Cleveland Martins on Single B. Played this the other day actually and it sounded brill! Chris
  19. My copy came from Amazon too. Was bought for me as a Birthday pressie by my sister in law in New Zealand. Just checked with my missus and she says she even sent her a link from Amazon so she could order it. Cheers, Chris ps. You are a very untrusting man Tony. A couple of years ago i remember you telling me you did`nt believe me when i said there was a vocal of 6x6...then everyone confirmed John Pugh had an acetate. I would`nt make this stuff up mate...!

  21. I got my copy last week, have only played disc one, some standout tracks but also a lot of middle of the road average early stuff too....but well worth the money of course. I liked the Brenda Holloway -MY baby loves me on first play. Chris
  22. I have been to this guys place in Pittsburg (i think). He is well known. You cant actually look at anything but you can give him lists and he looks it up on the computer, if he has a spare he will let it go, usually at some well over the top price. Not everything is mint as he claims, i have had records out of there in vg condition. He is full of his own importance, loves showing you the press articles that have been done on him in the past. I dont know of anybody who has been allowed to look behind the desk. There must be good stuff in there but lets just say he is prone to a bit of exageration on the value of what he has. Chris.
