  6. I dunno why anyone would want to boot this 45 at any rate........average at best, and certainly not a club tune. More for the chin strokers and bedroom listeners, so a pretty bizarre tune to reissue.

FYI Kev - the Rolyak variant was the first pressing with different drums....small quantity. The Rolyat pressing has re-recorded drums and of course, the label corrected. Good luck with the sale, mate!
  8. Nope....that's a friend of mine selling that....he came up on it just last week, but he won't tell me where. He combs the various swap meets around Cali on a daily basis, so chances are he lucked out at one of those.

  11. A friend of mine bought the vinyl flat and he's tried it out on a few LP's and a coupla 45's....so far, he's had a 100% success rate. The key is to follow the instructions where you don't put the vinyl flat into the oven. You can buy a bag which can be plugged into the mains, and heats up much more gradually....more like an electric blanket. It's maximum temperature is less and nowhere near as direct as an oven. So his recommendation is, yes it works........don't follow the oven instructions.....purchase the thermal heating bag and leave it pretty much over night. Then allow it to cool to room temperature before you remove the disc from the vinyl flat. It's a fairly heavy piece of kit, but it seems to do the trick.
  12. I can account for 4 of those copies mate.....2 in the US, at least 1 in the UK, not sure where the auction copy went. So can you elaborate a little on the other 2......please PM if you'd rather.
  13. Cheers for pointing that out....great spot that completely passed me by! The flip is a great ballad which kinda hints at a gospel tune......there's lyrics towards the end of the cut 'callin' on Jesus'. It's only mentioned once, so I wasn't sure if it was thinly veiled gospel. The Jim Stanton connection might just join the dots a little more.....thanks!

So I ended up pulling 60 minutes worth of rip snortin' club bangers all on OG 45....and this is what it sounded like; https://www.jesterwild.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=77:jester-wild-show-volume-51brigreg-belsoni&catid=10:shows-2012&Itemid=71 Check it out when you get a few. 17. Deep Gospel soul - a rich treasure chest of beautiful harmonies, vocal performances and heartfelt musicianship. Pure gold for the lover of music from the soul. Here's a mix of 10 original 45's from the genre...... https://www.mixcloud.com/gregbelson/45s-x-10-deep-gospel-soul-vol-2/ Included is arguably soul legend Roscoe Robinson's rareist recording as frontman for The New Heavenly Wonders. Plus possibly my favorite 45 of the genre by Little Shadows....pretty much unsurpassable in my book. Plus, included is a sublime offering from Fidelia McCowin out of Detroit, as well as a Carolina rarity from the Quadralaires of Fayetteville....a disc that has a little bit of everything, from deep soulful harmonies, to a touch of funk accompaniment....plus it's very tricky to source a copy! And we finish with the freshly discovered melter by James Bynum........sublime from top to tail. Personally, I think they're all winners, so get yourself comfy for 30 minutes or so of incredible music! Thanks for lending your ears!
  18. Shouts could be in order at any rate.....'sides, the Little Caesar was a spin for George long before I got my hands on it.....so he gets first dibs, if it's in his playbox on Thursday
  19. A definite spin for the Divine Chord Gospel Show hour.....Dwain Vinyard And pretty sure this'll get a play on the 45's of Fury Sweet Soul Edition broadcast.....Little Caesar & the Euterpians

I'll be playing a few of the gospel records that Aaron hipped me to, plus playing some new discoveries I know he would have loved to hear. Rest in power, my friend....in the meantime, here's pt. 15 to check out! https://www.mixcloud....pel-show-pt-15/ For the 2nd hour, it's the next session of the 45's of Fury, featuring this months very special guest DJ George Miller Jr. Set your dials to tune in for the Sweet Soul Rollers session....a one hour show dedicated to soulful harmonies and sweet, sweet soulful ballads.
