Can anybody give me a bit more info on this track? I understand the original 45 is on Joker and there's been at least one repress/boot of it that I know. How rare is the Joker piece and does anybody have an idea of whether I'll have to go deep in the pockets to fork out for one? Thanks alot for any help.

Not my kinda tune at all - I think it's dreadful - but the Valentin went on the bay for about £150 or something close.

I hear everything that you're both saying, but the fault in this case isn't Andy's. The door price is set by the venue, not by the DJ - at least, that seems to be the case whenever I've played there. As a venue, I've seen their prices slowly escalate, just recently a ticket to see Raphael Saadiq was in the region of £20+. Andy is an excellent DJ who plays records in his own style - which is different for the kids. He mixes, scratches, beat matches and all that kind of stuff. Now I know that's not everybody's cup of char, but it's something different, and it appeals to the kids. The price is steep IMO, but I think I'm right in saying it's not his fault.

The album was booted a few years back. They also released another single not a patch on 'New Day' - Al's razor blade.

If I had to choose a 45, I'ld go with Priscilla Price 'Rockerfella Jones' - a record that has absolutely everything in just under 3 minutes of gorgeousness. Yep, would never part with that one. Album would be Jean Dushon with 'Make way for Jean Dushon' on 1964 Argo. Just a superb album from start to finish - Hitchhike, Baia, Early one morning.......bootiful!

He's also had a few copies of the funk cut by OFS Limited 'Mister Kidneys'. I spoke to him on a deal with that particular 45 and he appears to be genuine, but kinda keeps his cards to his chest ie doesn't disclose the quantity in stock he has. It would seem from the growing number of Prix sides for sale at the moment, that there has been a good find direct with the label, distro house etc.

I've given this a spin too in recent months. Nice track for the early doors - strong mid tempo back beat and a powerful vocal performance.

As far as the line-up is concerned, it's a one off (at least, up until now!) The HF&S gig itself run by Nick Cope is on every Thursday and Nick does a great job of bringing together DJ's and live acts down there, each and every week. On the live front, he's had the likes of New Mastersounds, Lefties Soul Connection, Speedometer, Little Barrie, Baker Brothers, Boogaloo Investigators and such like. As far as replicating the line-up JT and Ian, it's my birthday on 9th September down there if you fancy it!! ; ) ***JT....just read your post up mate. The library stuff and such like is usually on the monthly meeting held there - swapping, finding out new tunes and such like. The Thursday is actually a very respectable funk oriented night, with some dabs of soul thrown in. For example, a few bits from your tracklisting have been played there on the regular. Also, you'll find next to no reissues played there. I think you'll find a lot of the DJ's that play are made from the same egg and play OG 45's 99%, if not 100% of the time.
