  5. Micksmix reviewed Eddiefoster's review on an event in Soul Nights

With so many events and the Mediterranean weather at the moment, we did think it would be a quieter night, not a bit of it, a busy turnout and yet again more new faces joining The Ashton Faithful, to find out what we're all about!! Got to say the music was a real eclectic mix of all that keeps us coming back for more!! I enjoyed warming the night up, playing a few from "the back of the box" as they say. I'll post a playlist later! Nice to see Steve Skopek back behind the decks, playing a nice Eulogy for our good friend Ted Massey Larry Wright "it's ok with me" sounded the business, as did the Philly Classic John Leach "put that woman down" Another Returnee DJ to Ashton John Hilell played for me the highlight of the night for me, some stone classics Calvin Grayson "love just began" Arin Demain "silent treatment" and some class 70s dancers Mixed Feelings "Sha La La" Second Resurrection and many more!! Si "The Fixer" Ingham followed and WOWSER Honey Bees "let's get back together" Hopkin Brothers, Celebrities "I choose you baby" Paris "sleepless nights" and the sublime Henry Boatwright Flip!! Then when you thought it couldn't get any better, it did, take a bow Chic Mullineux 2 plus 2 "look around" The Delites "lover" and Dave Evison was back with us, after a really nice review last time. The dancing DJ never changes treading the boards to Pure Quality like The Nurons "all of my life" respect mate!! Chris Churm finishing "a night to remember" Ascots "a few feet from the gutter" Bottom + Company Jackey Beavers "a love that never grows cold" and many more !! We have an amazing line up for our Mid Summer Madness event on Saturday June 21st flyer attached !! Once again many, many thanks for your continued support, it really is appreciated !! Another Soul Spectacular is on the cards for our Saturday May 17th event at Ashton Ukrainian Club. Phenomenal interest already in the event , as we approach the date!! Chic Mullineux is really looking forward to his return behind the decks, always a top quality playlist from Shropshire's finest!! A couple of North West returnee DJs, been a minute for John Hillel and Steve Skopek two guys with Top Notch collections, should be worth the wait !! Team Ukrainian Fixer# taste maker# tech maestro and non too shabby DJ Si Ingham has a few new additions to an already quality DJ box !! That just leaves Phil Dunn to open the night for the Ashton Faithful and the vastly under rated Ashton OG Chris Churm who always knows just what's needed to round off the night, please check back regularly via the link to our Soul-Source event page thread as our vinyl portfolio develops, in the lead up to the event !! A busy Bank Holiday has delayed our Monday Morning Banger, let's put that right from The Fixer's playbox DOUBLE WHOOOSH!!

A very busy and enjoyable night at The Grumpy takeover, top tuneage throughout. We arrived just after opening time, to an already busy room. Great early sets from Joan and Phil, have to say Carl Fortnum nailed it for me, that happy knack of playing the right record and tempo that captured the imagination of the dancefloor talking of which, record of the night for me, assume c/u Doc + The Interns "the love that you give" Any info, such a great record, complete with guitar breaks. Had a brief time in the Modern Room and Soul Sam was "rockin' da house" as you would expect. Great to catch up with our good Friends Ann Mundey and Tony Mundey. C'mon Mike Roche let's have a detailed review and playlist. Culcheth deffo on the up, look forward to next month !!
